[Phillies Radio and TV Broadcasts] "NO!!!! NOOOOO!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!!" Dodgers win 2-1 with a rare 5-2-6-4 double play as JT Realmuto runs the bases drunk to end the game.

You'd rather both guys on 3rd and let the umpire decide. Don't think I've ever seen a game end like that.

Injury Update Dodgers' Edwin Diaz: Likely to return next week

A return for Diaz this weekend hasn't been totally ruled out, but rather than activate the closer for one series on the east coast this weekend versus the Mets, the Dodgers will likely wait until they begin a homestand next Tuesday. Out since late April following surgery to remove loose bodies in his right elbow, Diaz has tossed four scoreless innings with a 7:1 K:BB in four rehab outings.

Last night wasn't even the craziest ending to a 2-1 Dodgers Win against the Phillies in the last 12 months!

Who else remembers this moment from the 2025 playoff run? What a great series... and ironic that Andy Pages who had struggled so hard at the plate the entire post series was the at-bat that clinched the NLDS for the Dodgers!

I would be absolutely comfortable with Justin Wrobleski starting a playoff game. What an absolute gem that he's turning into 🙏

I cannot believe how this game ended. Dodgers win 2 to 1 in whacky fashion. Unreal

Happy Wednesday! Eric Lauer starts on the mound today.

The Dodgers will try to get another win after last night's dramatic finish. Hoping for another solid start for Lauer as we march on for October.

Let's go!

Why is Pages/3B Coach not signalling Alfonzo to speed up running to home? Ohtani and Dodgers lose an RBI as the Dodgers Catcher doesn't touch home plate before Ohtani is tagged out at 2nd.

Why is Alfonzo not legging it out for home, instead of jogging? Especially on a ball that Ohtani might stretch into a Double. Moreover, Pages with full view of the play developing should be windmilling Alfonzo into home (as should the 3rd base coach right)

Current Dodgers Rank on All-time Dodgers HR List

With Max Muncy hitting his 19th HR last night, he is now tied with Ron Cey with 228 career Homerun as a Dodgers making them both #5 on the All-Time list. As I like to look at stats, I looked up the entire Dodgers HR list and put together the Top 5 players on the list. Then I wrote down where all the current active Dodgers are on the list, how many HRs they have, and who they are chasing.

It is interesting to see with many HR hitters, there seems to be no one really who may actually take the #1 spot from Duke Snider until Ohtani perhaps decides to give up pitching and focus purely on hitting as he had to do the previous 1 and half seasons.

Here is the list below. Enjoy.

Not gonna lie when he looked right at me I kinda froze.

Super happy to see Freddie and Alex Vesia and our beloved Mookie. As a Red Sox fan his loss hurt the most.

Lots of Dodgers fans there. Whole third base side.

Gave a Dodgers fan a game ball that we got since we got an extra one that Judge signed. Pretty wild day.

Dodgers pitching legacy

Upvotes

What is that the Dodgers do differently than other ball clubs? The Dodgers will get reclamation projects like this year with Eric Lauer and they will perform incredible with the Dodgers. Tyler Anderson comes to mind too who was incredible for the Dodgers.

Is it an analytics approach or something that the development personnel sees in the pitchers mechanics?

Thoughts about the CBA and the three peat

Upvotes

Asking this here, because I thought it would get a little more dispassionate analysis here than on the baseball subreddit.

So, it's fairly obvious that the owners are milking the crap out of the Dodgers winning consecutive World Series to push for a salary cap for competitive balance purposes, even though it is fairly obvious that the salary cap is really intended to more accurately estimate the cost of a franchise for owners.

However, the commercials from MLB in support of the salary cap for competitive balance made me think of the following hypothetical scenario. If the Dodgers did not win the National League pennant this year, could that event completely destroy the "competitive balance" argument for a salary cap and guarantee baseball to start on time in 2027?

It's an interesting scenario, because it ties the salary cap to the Dodgers winning another World Series.
