My family was on a road trip a few weeks ago and caught a Cards game. We're not from St. Louis (first time ever visiting, actually), but we like to grab these "stadium exclusive" balls for our kid to collect when we go to a new stadium.
I recognize everything on here:
The Arch
The Fleur de Lis (thanks, King Louis)
The Mississippi River
The tavern-style pizza
The ZOO statue (took a while to figure that one out as I thought it said NOOI for the longest time...)
But what the hell is in the bowl? Ice cream? Yogurt? Rice? Frozen Budweiser?
We were only in the city for one day (really want to go back some time and spend more time there as it looks like there's a lot of awesome stuff to do), so I didn't really get enough into the culture to figure out what in the world that is and it's driving us crazy.
So please, help us out so I can stop staring at this thing and telling my 2 year old that I don't know what it is but if he believes it's ice cream then that's what we'll roll with until we know better.
Cheers!
EDIT: Answered! It's Ted Drewes frozen custard! A coworker of mine told us to check that place out but it didn't fit into our schedule, unfortunately. Will definitely have to get some next time we're in the The Lou. Thanks everyone!
EDIT 2: Thanks also for the clarification of the pizza likely being specifically IMO's. Which is not "tavern style" but "St. Louis Style" which may or may not be a subgenre of "Chicago style" which is the originator of the more generic "tavern style" term. Or something.
Also, it really sounds like I screwed the pooch missing out on Ted Drewes. Womp womp
