What exhaust are yall running on your nb Miata? I want something with a good tone and also some sound. Nothing too unbearable like an isr, but also don’t want it to be barely noticeable if I’m not on it.

2000 Miata 1.8L engine with standard components. 64000 miles.

So OEM Fuel damper had a moderate fuel leak. My original one has a rubber dangly bit that hangs downward. Not sure what the specific name for that piece is. And many of the after market replacements do not have it. What’s the difference? The oem ones have it and are twice as expensive.

Example:
Beck/Arnley Fuel injection pulsation damper has no rubber dangly bit.

While OEM part (BP4W-20-180) from Mazda has the same rubber bit.

Is the Beck going to perform different? Have higher risk of failure? Not work correctly?

The new problem is getting a deferral until it becomes a bigger problem. Right now, it's just oil in the coolant. I'm not gonna concern myself with it until it's coolant in the oil.

I have a manual Mazda mx5 from 2000

A few days ago I posted in this Reddit about a noise in my engine bay after a rebuild, I was told to check the leads and have since replaced them with kv85s and changed the old plugs to iridium ones. I also found a part of my belt that had frayed, my friend cut the frayed bit off and the noise remains. However at one point I put in about 200ml or 2 quarts of 5w40, unplugged the leads reseated them and the engine was good for about 10 seconds before the noise came back. On a separate occasion same thing and when I revved it then the engine started popping, it turned off and back on but the popping came back. Next day I turned it on and original noise.

When I first posted the engine and exhaust manifold were really hot but now are better. I tested the old leads and the resistance seemed okay for them but replaced anyway just in case. The old leads came out easily and the new ones have much more strength.

I recently bought OEM big Tupperware skirts for my NB2, and I am ready to install them. From what I have seen online, some rails drill in right under the doors to support the skirt. I don't have the paper stencil that comes with most kits to figure out where to put that rail. Any ideas on where I could download one?

I recently had issues with my clutch. About a month ago, I heard squealing noises every time I pushed in the clutch pedal, and assumed it was the throwout bearing. After leaving the car sitting for a while, I decided to go ahead and switch out the entire clutch system. As I was taking out the transmission from the engine, I smelled this horrible burnt metal smell, and noticed the entire bell housing was black with a carbon-like dust. The clutch disc was completely worn, and quite literally everything was covered with this dust. The throwout bearing was disintegrated, but I don't know if this was the cause for the dust. I've since cleaned it all out, but I'm stuck wondering where this dust could have come from.

I recently got a 2002 miata nb special edition. Sometimes the camshaft position sensor p0012 CEL comes on, but the car otherwise seems fine.

I noticed this noise a while ago and can’t pin it down to what it is. It randomly happens often in short bursts maybe a few times a minute on average. It’s really subtle but it almost sounds like crickets chirping. It doesn’t really change sound with revs but seems to happen a lot when i hover around 3.5 revs, maybe it’s resonating or something. It happens in neutral too, but not as consistently. I did notice once that moving the steering wheel made it activate and was able to get it on tape since i’m not actually driving.

Anyone have any clue what this could be? I attached some video clips for reference.

I guess I’m glad it seems to be just the one panel. No one ever sees these small cars when changing lanes.

As a gear head, I’ve owned several sports cars, including multiple high end ones (458,911s) but my ND RF Miata gets the most compliments by far, especially from older women (grannies) and kids.

What surprises me most is how often people come over just to chat about it. That almost never happened with my other cars.

What is it about the Miata that makes it so approachable? Anyone else with similar experience across multiple brands and models?
