Long post. We broke up, but I still want to try again. I feel like a serious misunderstanding made things worse, and I want to explain the situation.
I have posted here before about my relationship. My girlfriend and I were together for almost a year, and recently we went through a very difficult time.
Eventually, she told me that she didn’t love me anymore and that she wasn’t attracted to me the same way. We talked about everything, and we decided to stay as friends because I still love her and I didn’t want to completely lose her from my life.
However, after we became friends, something happened that made things even worse.
She saw my TikTok reposts and became upset because she felt like there were too many girls in my reposts. She told me that she felt like I was pretending to love her, and eventually she blocked me.
Since she blocked my main account, I am currently trying to contact her through a secondary account because I just want the chance to properly explain myself
I understand why some reposts could have looked bad from her perspective, especially because we already had problems before this. But I feel like there was a serious misunderstanding that I never got the chance to properly explain.
One of the reposts was a girl who went to the same middle school as me. We knew each other, but I never had feelings for her. Her boyfriend is someone I used to work out with, and he is actually a well-known student fitness creator in Korea. They were both TikTok creators, and many people from my school knew them as a couple.
I reposted her video because I wanted to support someone I knew, not because I was attracted to her or because I wanted her attention.
The worst part was when I tried to explain this to my girlfriend. I wanted to say two separate things:
“She is not a Sydney Sweeney.”
and
“She is my friend.”
But I was typing too quickly and accidentally combined the two sentences, which resulted in me saying:
“She is my Sydney Sweeney.”
I completely understand why that looked terrible, especially because she already disliked Sydney Sweeney. But I swear that was not what I meant. I would never intentionally say something like that to hurt her, especially when I was trying to save our relationship.
I also want to clarify another repost, Olivia Rodrigo. I reposted her because I like her music. It was not because of her appearance or because I was attracted to her. She is simply an artist I enjoy, and even my mom and younger sister like her music.
I know our breakup was not only because of reposts. We had other problems, and I understand that relationships are complicated. I am not trying to say that one misunderstanding is the only reason everything happened.
But it hurts knowing that someone I loved so much might believe that my love was fake or that I didn’t respect her, because that is not true.
I still love her, and I still want to try to fix things if there is any chance. I know I cannot force her feelings, and I respect her choice. But I don’t want to give up while there is still a misunderstanding that I never got the chance to explain.
I just want her to know the truth about what I meant.
