Garner Post Office

Today is the third time in 6 weeks that I have tried to mail something or buy postal supplies at the Garner Post Office and the whole place is shut down during normal hours. I was there before 4PM today (hours posted on the window say they are open until 5PM) but the whole inside was closed off/locked up and the vending machine in the lobby wouldn’t sell stamps. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just having terrible post office luck lately?

I regularly see this kid on an e-scooter with headphones on almost everyday and was curious to know if anyone else has seen him? Very random post to make honestly.

Looking for Andrew

Hi everyone. So I am trying to find a man named Andrew. I was driving to the gym around midnight 2 nights ago, on timber drive when I saw a man (Andrew) laying in the middle of the road. I immediately stopped and put my flashers on so no one would hit us and called 911. Looks like he may have hit that cement median and flipped off his moped. I sat with him and held his hand while we waited for EMS. Once they got there they told me to leave. I’m trying to find him though because his moped is still on the side of the road and it now has a sticker for tow on it. I just wanted to give him a heads up and tell him if he needed me to bring him his moped I am more than happy to do it. I know times are tough for everyone and transportation is very important. So if anyone knows him please let him know. I would really hate for his moped to be impounded after all he’s been through already.

Flock Cameras at White Oak

Hey yall— I noticed they have flock cameras at white oak. I called and complained to the people who manage the space (I left a message) but does anyone else have any other idea who I should call? This is unacceptable.

Moving to Raleigh area; help me tour the local towns

Looking to get a good feel for the areas around Raleigh and get a sense of where we want to settle down. We’ve done a tour of some of the areas but didn’t really get a feel for them as much as become a little familiar with the overall region. Where should one one drive to get a sense of what daily living is gonna be like in Garner, Angier, Fuquay Varina, Wake Forest, Rolesville, Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, Clayton, Youngsville? They each have their pros/cons so are acceptable, but outside of work/school as homebodies who like daily convenience I wanna see what each has got. Would prefer advice from those familiar rather than just pick some busy-looking spots on a map and drive from A to B without really having a sense of each as its own locale

Thanks!

Flying Tiger Martial Arts: safe for women?

Title says it all! I really want to join a martial arts program (tae kwon do or karate specifically) but upon investigation, it looks like now I have to worry about picking a location not known for sexual assault and/or discrimination towards women and children. Anyone have a good experience at Flying Tiger in Garner? I’m a 33yo woman. Thx!

Fireworks

Whoever is shooting off exceptionally loud illegal fireworks off NC50 near Atchison Street, you just disoriented my early onset dementia wife. I will spend the rest of the night calming her back down, so no sleep for me due to your selfishness.

Thanks for being an inconsiderate neighbor, douchbag.

Wheelchair donation

I’m looking for somewhere to donate a nearly brand new wheelchair. I have tried Disabled American Veterans - called three different times and no one calls me back. I tried the local VFW and they don’t take wheelchair donations. I don’t want to donate to a thrift store or a for-profit org - I’d like to get this into the hands of an org that serves disadvantaged folks. Any suggestions or ideas? Thanks!

Made more in 2 hours than a10 hour shift gotta put the pedal down on this

Worked 50 hours this week at Amazon during Prime Week… then clocked out Friday and went straight to work on my own business.

I had already worked 10 hours at my day job that day, and this one evening job brought in more than that shift.

I’m grateful for the benefits, the opportunity, and the stability Amazon has given me. It has helped me provide for my family, and I don’t take that lightly.

But deep down, I know this can be bigger.

This job took a little longer than I expected. I did it solo. About 2.5 hours total between driving, loading, hauling, and getting it to the landfill.

Customer approved it at $300.

Landfill fee was $22, plus gas, wear and tear.

It’s not always glamorous. It’s not always easy. But this is what building something on the side really looks like.

Grateful for where I am.

Working for where I’m going.

One load at a time. 🐇💪#roofsrubbishrescue #junkremoval #ratrace #pov #RaleighNC

Office Building DIY Show

Listen… I know it’s a longshot, but the idea of playing a show in a big room with a bunch of empty cubicles sounds sick. The office building could be abandoned, or still in use, doesn’t matter. Anyone have any ideas/leads on how to make it happen or who I could ask? Thanks in advance

Garner Tax Increase

I am not opposed to paying property taxes. I moved to Garner and thought to myself "theres no way they could raise the taxes even higher". Of course i am an idiot for thinking that. Garner has almost the highest tax rate in Wake County by a large margin and they are increasing it again. I honestly don't see what Garner is doing with the money. The parks are absolutely mediocre in comparison to other Wake County cities, the facilities are below average, city programming is mediocre, business development is stagnant. They stated the population has grown substantially, but where is all the money going?

Municipality in Wake County Municipal rate Combined Wake + municipal rate
Angier 0.4900 1.0071
Apex 0.3560 0.8731
Cary 0.3400 0.8571
Clayton 0.4900 1.0071
Durham 0.4371 0.9542
Fuquay-Varina 0.3580 0.8751
Garner 0.5200 1.0371

Knightdale 0.4400 0.9571

A spot for operating a food trailer

Does anyone know a good spot in Garner, NC to operate my food trailer out of? I'm looking for a ground to lease to put my food trailer semi permanently. I'm going to be selling authentic and amazing chicken shawarma wraps. Similar to that crazy place in LA. If you know a guy who knows a guy, let me know! I'll pay rent obviously and sign a lease.

Edit: Thank you everyone for the ideas and the encouragement. After talking to these places we decided to set up by Lowe's at 1575 US-70, Garner, NC 27529. We are very close to launch. I would say by mid July.
