Maxum X3 Mutant Arms Replacement

For anyone who bought the X3 with the original trolley arms and replaced them with the new Mutant Arms; what are you doing with the old trolleys? Are they compatible with other racks? Wondering if anyone would buy these on OfferUp.

Advice Needed

I have an ethos foldable squat rack. Originally purchased during COVID with the intention of mainly doing CrossFit style workouts. Currently the knees don’t agree with this style of workout so I need to strengthen them through either body building lifts or might do TB.

My question is, does anyone else have this rack and found any hacks to add a functional trainer cable set to this? Or is it better to just get rid of it and look at Facebook marketplace for a power rack with a functional trainer built in? Also is a picture of my smaller space, thinking of addding a leg extension/curl machine. Im thinking that’ll basically give me everything I need.

Thoughts?

Any watch movies while they lift?

I like having the TV on in the garage while I'm lifting. Looking for good action movie suggestions. Already made it through all of the undisputed, rocky, creed, kickboxer, blade and Rambo movies. What else y'all got.

Question on Rogue HR-2 Half Rack - Can a car safely drive over the feet?

I've been researching rack options for my garage and thinking this rack would be a good fit. My 2 car garage only has 1 car in it. About 95% of the time, there is no other car in the garage. They only time there would be one is when we have guests and there isn't available parking in the community. Parking spots are scarce in this particular HOA.

I was researching both a stand alone rack and a folding rack, and I would really rather not go with a folding rack. During my research quest and using AI, it was pretty adamant about getting the HR-2 over a folding rack, telling me that if you need to park in the other spot, just drive over the feet of the HR-2 for those few times of year when you need to park there. But that really concerns me ... I think it's hallucinating. It tries to reference garage gym reviews, but when you look at those references, nothing about driving over the feet exist.

Anyway, would anyone dare do that? The rack will be along a wall perpendicular to the parked car. Given the length of about 4 feet for the rack, any other car that comes in would have to drive over the feet, unless I move it to the back yard.

Thanks in advance for helping me answer a silly question.

Get RXd Viper Question

I was considering adding one of these to my home gym and wanted to know if anyone has made an instructional assembly video? I’m not great with directions and was looking at the manual online which seems a bit confusing and was looking for some feedback and suggestions. Thanks

What's the one attachment you'd actually buy again?

Of all the attachments you've added to your rack or cable system, which one actually felt worth it and would you buy again?

My current pulleys are fine for everyday stuff, but for chest fly, rear delt and single arm press the angles always feel a bit limited. I'm on the fence about adding something and don't want to waste money on gear that just collects dust, so I'd love to hear what's been most worth it for you.

My dream home gym built (almost) entirely from FB Marketplace šŸ”„

After being a member of the sub for years and dreaming about the day, I would finally have my own piece of iron paradise, it is finally complete.
To anyone who doesn’t already know, Facebook marketplace is THE BEST way to get the equipment that you want at a discounted price. You just have to be patient!
Here is everything I have in the Dungeon and what I paid ā¬‡ļø
\-Rep PR-5000 with ARES 1.0 : $2800. yes, I know the Ares. 2.0 is an updated machine, but I could not pass up on this steal. šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

\-Bolt Outlaw Leg Press/Hack Squat : $1200. This thing is a beast. I’m able to get Ass to grass on both movements and I’ve loaded up 7 plates on either side with zero issues. Highly recommend! šŸ”„

\-Gronk Leg extension/Leg curl : $500. honestly, this thing is OK. It gets the job done, but suffers from the same issues that every plate loaded machine that’s designed like this will have. I will probably upgrade this in the future!

\-Powerblock PRO 100 EXP : $800. Let me tell you I was a little bit wary about these dumbbells because everyone talks about the Reppins as the gold standard of adjustable but I LOVE these things! They are great if you’d like to do drop sets/super sets, and the best part is you don’t have to return them to a cradle to change the weight. If you’re in the market for an adjustable, I cannot recommend these enough!

\-Schwinn Airdyne AD7 : $300 this was probably one of the craziest deals I found. This thing is over $1000 new, and the guy I got it from was only willing to sell it to me so cheap because he literally had a heart attack while using it last year and can’t stand to look at it now lmao

\-Rouge Pritchett Pad : $150

\-750 pounds of weight plates and a beater bar that I paid $600 for at an estate sale.

\-Rep Nighthawk bench : $500 (retail)

\-Double Black Diamond Powerbar : $300 (retail)

All in all, including some attachments I bought and stall mats from tractor supply, I paid about $7800 for everything. It was an investment, but I will have it for Life! I’m happy to answer any questions about anything in the comments below

Barbell back squat replacement?

My current programming is
3x20-30 calf raises
2x5 barbell back squat
4x6-12 RDLs
2x6-12 sissy squats
2x6-12 quad-focused Bulgarian split squats

This is my programming as I only have a barbell, dumbbells, a bench, and a power cage. I’m starting to really fear the barbell back squats as I’m starting to feel more lower back strain as I increase the weight. I have relatively long femurs and my squats become good mornings as I approach failure. I’m unfortunately unable to switch to a gym at the moment. Any advice on how to improve this routine?

Anyone use the Goimu DP01?

Just curious about your thoughts on it. My wife wants to do some weight training but doesn't particularly care for free weights. She does like the functional trainers like this with the cables. This one seems to have a good mix of exercises and I can use it with our free weights as well.

Why does everyone in the home gym community hate the set up for the equipment?

Every YouTube home gym guy I see always complains about the fact that they have to set up some of the exercises by attaching leg roller pads or moving benches or setting up safety arms. I really don’t understand what the problem is here. Some of the more complicated stuff I set up takes maybe two minutes at the most. This is nothing compared to having to actually wait for a machine that somebody else is using out a commercial gym or just having to come to a commercial gym. I set up for the next exercise in between sets for the previous one so often there is no set of time at all really.

Layout in small space opinions.

Post image
4 Upvotes

So I am about to assemble my force c20. I cleared a space for it today against the wall between the windows and you can see the rest of the layout. The plates will live on the c20 rack and the small metal one will be gone. Cold plunge behind rogue rack is going on back porch. I’m not in love with it the layout at all. What would y’all do? I have to keep enough space for the bikes and to store some things on the cleared side of the garage.

On a separate note. The force mats SUCK they aren’t even cut squarely….

Will granuflex mats under deadlift platform make the bounce/ platform stability worse?

Post image
2 Upvotes

My gym is inside a multi storey building, on the bottom floor, and there have been complaints by other occupants in the building about the noise and vibration from our deadlifts. The bar also bounces a lot on this deadlift platform, so it definitely needs to be replaced and improved to fix both of these issues. The current set up is Strength shop granuflex mats (they are supposed to be good for vibration absorption, 20mm thickness I believe) on the gym floor (horse stall mat), one layer of 3/4 inch thick plywood on top of the granuflex mats, and a weird thin rubber layer on top of the plywood

If we were to place a new good deadlift platform (2 layers of 3/4 plywood plus a 3rd layer consisting of 3/4 inch plywood in centre and 3/4 inch horse stall mats on the sides) ON TOP of the granuflex mats, would that fix both problems (the vibration/noise being felt across the building, and the bar bounce during deadlifts)?

I am concerned the granuflex mats may lead to the platform having too much give/ bounce, but without the mats I fear the vibration issues won’t be fixed. I’m getting us a ā€˜good’ deadlift platform (as I described earlier) regardless, I just want to know whether the granuflex mats will help or not in such a situation?

The attached photo shows the current setup, the layer in between the plywood and gym floor is the granuflex mat for reference, it feels kinda squidgy tbh but I guess that’s how it works for vibration absorption.

We train on calibrated powerlifting competition plates. More controlled eccentrics isn’t really an option.

Has anyone got any experience with a similar setup? Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

The Johnson Fitness and Wellness install team finished the install and everything seems to be in good working order. Only two complaints thus far. The Al mine magnet is too weak to hold the landmine in place and the weight stack upgrade plates selector pin is noticeably more difficult to push in. Other than that I am super excited to put this to use.

Considering converting RML690c 6 post to 4 post

Thinking of shrinking my 6 post foot print down to 4 posts. Will try the longer and shorter versions. What are uses for the spare 2 posts? Sell obviously. Or I could mount side by side I think and make it a rig with a pull up bar between them.

Anyone broken down a 6 post to save space and regret it? I plan on testing out with weights on bottom before bolting down

Option overload for cable solution for my gym

Thumbnail

I’m struggling to pick out a cable machine for this gym. I have a rack, dumbbells, bars and plates. I need a cable setup for bodybuilding type work.
I’m getting rid of that punching bag and fan and will have that entire wall space freed up.

I can’t decide between a cable tower type set up, non rack functional trainer type setup, or even building a small dual upright rack setup to function as a voltra mounting point.

Any opinions here? Thanks!

Bells of Steel Legacy opinions?

Is anyone able to speak on how well they like the bells of steel legacy leg curl/extension? Comparing it to the GMWD LE08 but I live within pickup distance for the bells warehouse so I can get a 20% discount which brings them pretty close in price.

Ironmaster 45lb dumbells - a beginner's take

If you are looking into buying the Ironmaster adjustable dumbbells, and are brand new to the weight lifting world, here are a few structural and customer service details I wish I had known before purchasing:

The 2.5 lb Increment Design Issue: the bare handle, without the two nut attachments, is 5 pounds. The only way to increase by only 2.5 pound increments as marketed is to add only one nut to one side. After talking to customer service about the advertised 2.5 pound increments, they shared that their intent was for the user to slide their hand all the way over to the heavier side of the dumbbell to compensate for the uneven load.

Safety Concerns: Shifting my grip off-center forced my stabilizer muscles to fight an uneven torque lever while lifting which felt unsafe. It also significantly compromised my form and balance making certain exercises, like bird dogs, practically impossible.

Floor clearance and square design: These dumbbells are 6.7 inches in diameter. During floor exercises, they would hit the ground at odd angles and I had to shorten my range of motion to compensate for the diameter.

Customer Service: After emailing Ironmaster about my dissatisfaction with the "beginners" design of these dumbells, they called me directly to discuss the intended hand positioning to compensate for 2.5lb increments. I stressed that this design isn't recommended by fitness groups (to lift with an uneven load). The service agent claimed not to know anything about that. I stood by my request for a return and they stood by their satisfaction guarantee.

Overall, if you are lifting in five pound increments and have a workout bench, these are incredibly durable and well made. For budding strength training floorists like me, it's probably best to look elsewhere.

Shopping for a new rack has me going down a rabbit hole.

Looking to buy a new setup for my garage . I’m leaning towards a half rack due to me being limited in space. I didn’t realize how big the market is and the wide range in pricing it can be for similar products but different in quality. I hope to find the right one for me .
