r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

Hey everyone,

Been working on this for a while and wanted to finally share it: rgl.deals is live in BETA.

Most deal sites right now are a mess. Wrong specs, fake prices, or just spamming garbage laptops. I built this to be a clean alternative for the sub, especially if you're browsing on your phone.

We don't list filler. If a laptop is a bad buy, it's not on the site. You just get the exact specs, actual price history, and reviews from creators you know. (A full laptop database and written reviews are coming later once the deals side is stable and fleshed out).

Quick rundown of what’s in it:

  • Advanced filters if you know your stuff, or a quick quiz if you just want a reliable recommendation.
  • Real price history (except Amazon because of their TOS).
  • Zero tracking. Your preferences save locally. Dark mode and accessibility options are built in.
  • Deep links so you can share exact searches or deals.
  • Bunch of other QOL Features.

Full transparency: Some links are affiliate, some aren't. It doesn't change what gets posted. We aren't pushing e-waste just to make a buck.

It's US-only right now while in beta. You're probably going to find bugs, so let me know if you break something. Drop any feedback, bug reports, or feature ideas below!

Thanks you for reading my TED Talk.

Showcase Bought my first real gaming laptop

Bought this XMG Apex 16 Max in April because it had an Easter deal for 2400 €. It has a 2TB SSD, 32GB 5600MT/s fast DDR5 RAM and a ryzen 9 9955hx paired with a rtx 5070 ti.

Absolutely love it, especially because of the mini LED display. Undervolted the CPU in BIOS via curve optimizer on all cores with a value of -20 and no crashes or noticed instabilities ever since. Limited FPS at 75 and switched from Nvidia Optimus to dGPU only to enjoy games in max settings and still have low CPU temperatures. I never really saw the GPU running hot except when benchmarking or using extreme settings in recent games with higher FPS limits.

I know this CPU is built to push and boost hard until it hits its temp limit but since I often play on the couch with the wife watching TV I like to minimize fan action as much as possible and still keep the mean temps low without compromising on quality settings. On top of that 75 FPS is more than enough for my old gamerdad eyes and definitely more than they were used to.

No regrets!

Got myself the beautiful Zephyrus with 5080, 32Gb RAM and 2Tb storage. Paid a lot of money for it, and I don’t know if I like it or not. It’s annoying to have all of these performance regimes, few from windows itself few from Armory and few from G Helper, I feel that they always mix with each other because every time I turn on the laptop - I have no idea what regime I’m now. Sometimes the Hide Taskbar gets deactivated by itself, and the dGPU transition to iGPU and vice versa makes the screen freeze for a little bit. Maybe I just need to learn how to use it, however so far it’s just somewhat complicated lol

Discussion Gaming laptop at random store.

Alr so I don't wanna be posting ts yeah cause basically he (my bro)paid 800 euros for a laptop with integrated graphics.

now it's like a Lenovo Slimpad or something I think,I don't really remember cause when I went to his house and I'm just yk checking it out cause he told me he got a new machine,i said can I check it out and shi, so ofc I open the windows settings and task manager, and double check so I can believe what I'm seeing he has paid 800 euros yeah for an integrated graphics laptop, dang.

So I'm like instantly disappointed now idk what I should have said yeah?

but like he's like: what happened man why you look like you saw a snake or some shi?

I'm like where you got it?

- MY PARENTS BOUGHT IT FOR ME AT SOME RANDOM NEARBY CITY Store.

😶‍🌫️ DANG ,at that point I'm just sad man, cause like his parents yeah he bought it as a gift for him (probably) , now we live in Italy, and the thing is if you live in Italy you know that you can't find a good deal in most of the physical stores unless a product goes on a "Volantino" in Unieuro/Mediwarold, and now the thing is I told him like mate ts for 800 euros is terrible (I didn't think much at the moment)

And we're just like sitting there yeah and he's like he didn't know, (it's his second laptop and he probably didn't know much)

So I mean after a bit of work I came for to do together yeah.

I just left.

so this was a month ago,and idk what he might thinking now but yeah a little story ig.

Dang I feel kinda bad.

Support Need Help Fixing Stuttering in Forza Horizon 6

So for reference, i'm running FH6, on my ASUS Zephyrus ROG G16 with the following specs:

Processor: Intel Core Ultra 9 285H (16 cores: 6 P-cores +
8 E-cores + 2 LP E-cores)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 Laptop GPU, 16GB

GDDR7 - 100W base + 20W Dynamic Boost (120W max
TGP)

RAM: 32GB LPDDR5X

Storage: 2TB PCle Gen4 NVMe SSD

Display: 16" 2.5K WQXGA (2560×1600) OLED, 240Hz, HDR

You would think these specs are enough to comfortably run FH6 on extreme settings at 60fps but i'm experiencing horrible stuttering that isn't tied to the graphics preset, i'm experiencing it on the Very Low graphics preset as well.

I'm attaching some benchmark results for reference, wherein you can see the graphics and performance settings I was running. Pay attention to the stutter count.

So far, outside of the game's graphics settings, I tried clearing my NVIDIA shader cache folder, setting the shader cache size to unlimited as well as the power management mode for FH6 to "maximum performance". disabling hardware acceleration gpu scheduling, turning off NVIDIA Low Latency as well as DLSS, turning off all overlays including NVIDIA and completely uninstalling razer cortex. None of which has worked

I’ve benchmarked my laptop using cinebench 2026, as well as 3DMark Time spy, both of which are giving me confident scores so i’ve ruled out hardware issues. I can’t seem to figure out why so much stuttering would occur, especially given my laptop’s specs, is anyone else experiencing this?

Buying Advice What's the Best High-End Gaming Laptop You've Bought That Actually Felt Worth It?

I've always gamed on a desktop, but I'm traveling a lot more for work now, so it's finally time to switch to a gaming laptop.

Budget: Around $2,500–$3,500
Country: US
Use Case: Mostly AAA gaming (Cyberpunk 2077, Black Myth: Wukong, GTA VI when it comes out), plus everyday use while traveling.
Preferred Specs: RTX 5080/5090 if possible, 32GB RAM, 1TB+ SSD.
Notes: I'd rather pay more for something that's well-built, runs reasonably cool, and still feels like a good buy 4-5 years from now. I don't really care about flashy RGB or extra gimmicks

What would you buy again?

Support Dell G16 with i9-13900HX and RTX 4070: sudden FPS drops from 100 FPS to 30–60 FPS and lower GPU usage

Thumbnail
gallery
72 Upvotes

Hi everyone. I need help identifying a performance issue with my Dell G16 laptop.

English is not my first language, as I am a Spanish-speaking user. I used a translator to write this post, so I apologize if some technical terms or sentences are not completely clear.

My specifications are:

  • CPU: Intel Core i9-13900HX
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Laptop GPU
  • Original charger connected
  • G-Key Turbo mode enabled
  • CPU and GPU fans running at 100%
  • Game tested: God of War
  • Graphics API: DirectX 11

The game normally runs between 90 and 120 FPS, but at certain moments the performance suddenly drops to around 30–60 FPS.

The strange thing is that when the FPS drop happens, GPU usage and power consumption also decrease instead of remaining close to 100%.

In one of the screenshots, when the game was running normally, MSI Afterburner showed approximately:

  • 99 FPS
  • GPU usage: 90%
  • GPU temperature: 80°C
  • GPU power consumption: 117 W
  • VRAM usage: approximately 6 GB
  • CPU usage: 33%
  • CPU temperature: 86°C
  • Reported CPU clock speed: approximately 2117 MHz

In another screenshot, during the performance drop, it showed:

  • 58 FPS
  • GPU usage: 62%
  • GPU temperature: 82°C
  • GPU power consumption: 88.8 W
  • VRAM usage: approximately 6.6 GB
  • CPU usage: 71%
  • CPU temperature: 89°C
  • Reported CPU clock speed: approximately 1814 MHz

What concerns me is that when the FPS drops, GPU usage falls from around 90% to 62%, and GPU power consumption decreases from approximately 117 W to 89 W. At the same time, CPU usage increases and the reported CPU clock speed appears to decrease.

I am also using Dell’s G-Key Turbo mode. Alienware Command Center shows that both the CPU and GPU fans are running at 100%, but the FPS drops still happen even when using the maximum-performance profile.

The Alienware Command Center screenshot shows:

  • G-Key Turbo mode enabled
  • CPU fan at 100%
  • GPU fan at 100%
  • CPU temperature: 49°C
  • GPU temperature: 34°C

That screenshot was taken outside the most demanding part of the game, so those temperatures should not be directly compared with the in-game screenshots. I am mainly including it to show that Turbo mode was enabled and both fans were already running at maximum speed.

Support Stuttering

Upvotes

I’ve been getting stutters for a while now, I have a gaming laptop with a rtx3050 6gb, ryzen 7 7735Hs and 16 gb ram, I don’t even play heavy games, I only play r6, cs2, valorant and rocket league, which my laptop can run at 144+ fps. It started with rl but only when I saved the ball or scored, but now it’s on all games and more frequently.
My heat temperatures are good, not going more than 80 degrees when playing.
I’ve tried everything, disabling free sync on my monitor, updating BIOS, cpu and gpu drivers, disabling services, yesterday I had to factory reset my laptop in case there was a virus or something, but didn’t helped at all, disabling like 2 things on device administrator, etc. What can I do?

Support Is this normal?

The gaming laptop ı bought is working great but ı noticed that its getting hotter ı think when ı play a demanding game the cpu (a AMD ryzen ai 350) used to get around 70 degree celcius and the GPU (a rtx 5060) used to get around 60 degree celcius but now they are both getting a little bit warmer first it was 72 for the cpu then it was 75 and for the gpu first it was 61 to 62 and now its around 63 ı know that this is a very minor increase but still an increase it might have happened because the place ı played them in is hotter but ı am still unsur about it so ı wanted to ask.

Discussion What was the first “thin and light” gaming laptop?

Over the past few years, many manufacturers have shifted gears towards more thin and light gaming devices as opposed to the traditional thick and bulky ones. Out of curiosity, what was the first gaming laptop that was designed to be thin and light?

Discussion Just bought a Lenovo Legion 5i (Core Ultra 7 255HX + RTX 5060) for ₹1.40L, imported from Dubai to India. Worth it?

Post image
44 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a Lenovo Legion 5i imported from Dubai to India for ₹1.40 lakh.

Specs:

Display: 15.1" OLED

CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060

RAM: 16GB

Storage: 512GB SSD

I'd like to know if I got a good deal for the price.

Is ₹1.40 lakh worth it for these specs?

How does this compare with the Indian pricing?

Are there any disadvantages to buying a Dubai-imported Legion (warranty, charger, support, etc.)?

Any tips or recommended settings for a new Legion owner?

Showcase Picked up Acer Predator Helios 5060 for $1000

Post image

Super deal on Facebook marketplace. Seller wanted $1250 but agreed to $1000 cash. Works perfectly and in excellent shape!

Only 16gb ram so that’s the first upgrade. Next looking to do some undervolting and tuned fan curves because this thing is loud.

Acer - Predator Helios Neo 16S Al Gaming Laptop - 16" OLED 240Hz - Intel Core Ultra 9 - NVIDIA GeForce RTX
5060 - 16GB - 1TB - Obsidian Black

With current pricing I thought this was a great deal especially since projections have pc hardware still rising.

I know jack about laptops/pc. Just got my first gaming laptop. Msi cyborg 15 has 5070 16gb ram and seems ok only been able to do minecraft on it and it runs smooth.. main concern is my download speed. On other devices (my xbox and phone) download shows 80+ mbps even speed tests on laptop. But i only get max 11 down even with ethernet plugged in… whats the issue?
