I’m looking into buying a gaming laptop and from what I understand the battery is usually pretty bad. Is it annoying having to always plug the laptop in or is it not that bad? Do people use portable chargers?

do i use just a normal laptop bag or do i get something else?

I've got this HP Omen Laptop (RTX 5070, 1920x1200, 144hz but I use it on 120hz) since beginning of the year and while I'm almost always near a power outlet and it's not really an issue, I'm starting to wonder if this thing has a problem or something. Its battery is simply terrible.

Basically if I unplug it, bring it to another room and plug it in back again, it already lost like 3% battery while doing absolutely nothing for a grand total of 3 minutes.

Actual gaming on it is impossible while on battery, because performance is like less than half, and that is if I manually put it on performance mode, because by default it stays on balanced, and balanced + unplugged limits my framerate to something like 30-40 fps. So I can either play games that run looking like a Sega Saturn with 1 hour battery life, or I can play games that run like an underclocked Playstation 4 with 40 minutes battery life (actually less than that because I don't wanna damage it so I always keep it between 30-80%). I also play a lot of emulators and they must run games at 60 fps otherwise you'll get heavy stutters and messed up physics/audio, meaning that I have to keep it in performance mode even if I'm just playing Pokemon Emerald or Super Mario Bros 3 and ofc getting those sweet 40 minutes of battery life.

If I'm just browsing or sending emails or listening to music, it'll last 1 hour unless I turn everything wayyyy down (eco profile, 60hz, brightness down, no dgpu etc), and it doesn't even make that big of a difference. It'll give me an extra half-hour if lucky.

If the laptop is suspended/sleeping for an entire day, it'll lose something like 30%. It's not even doing anything at all, every single update is disabled, I even have WUB. The only way to stop it from draining battery like a madman is using hibernation or shutting it off completely. Or ofc just keeping it plugged in.

I love this thing, it runs stuff better than a PS5 Pro, I have hundreds of current gen games and thousands of retro games on it, I do video editing on it, watch movies and so on, but I can't use it anywhere without a power plug because I know it'll either run like a potato and die in 60 minutes or it'll run like a marginally more powerful potato and die in 40 minutes. I know gaming laptops had bad battery life but I would have never imagined they were this bad.

I'm looking for some advice from other Lenovo LOQ owners because I'm honestly confused.

My Lenovo LOQ's battery drains about 1% every 2 minutes, even when I'm only doing light work like browsing, emails, or using Microsoft Office. A full charge only lasts around 2 hours or less.

I've already tried almost everything Lenovo support suggested:

• Hybrid/iGPU mode
• Battery Saver
• Lower screen brightness
• Updated BIOS and drivers
• Changed power settings
• Closed unnecessary background apps

Unfortunately, nothing has improved the battery life.

I understand that the LOQ is a gaming laptop, and I know gaming laptops generally don't have the best battery life. But the thing is, I rarely game on it—maybe once every two weeks. About 95% of the time, I only use it for work. That's why I'm wondering if losing 1% every 2 minutes is actually normal, even for a gaming laptop.

Another thing that's confusing me is the warranty. Every time I contact Lenovo support, they tell me my battery is out of warranty because battery coverage is only for one year. However, when I visited an authorized Lenovo Service Center, the technician checked my laptop and told me that my battery is still covered under warranty.

Now I'm getting two completely different answers from Lenovo, so I don't know which one is correct.

I'd really appreciate hearing from other LOQ owners:

• Is 1% battery drain every 2 minutes considered normal for light work?
• How long does your LOQ battery last during normal use?
• Has anyone successfully had their battery replaced under warranty? How much ?
• Can anyone explain how Lenovo's battery warranty works or why I'm receiving conflicting information?

My 12 year old loves Fortnite and I don’t want to buy him a console. I have a 2018 HP Omen with i7 and GTX 1050, 8gb Ram. However it’s so slow it can’t run Fortnite. Heck his 7 year old Samsung phone runs it better.
I’ve updated all the drivers, optimized graphics with Nvidia App, played with all the settings I can find. Nothing helps.
I feel like I need to wipe the hard drive and start with a fresh slate to get rid of as much junk as I can. Goal is to give him something that can run Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft but does not need to do anything else.

But I’m hoping I might get some advice here.

Was Thinking of getting one with RTX 3080ti and Intel I7-12700H, or one with RTX 3070ti but I heard many people having reliability issues, and I don’t want a laptop that will die on me that easily, which made me have a though of getting a thinkpad which although is worse for gaming, it has a better reputation in terms of reliability.

The gaming laptop ı bought is working great but ı noticed that its getting hotter ı think when ı play a demanding game the cpu (a AMD ryzen ai 350) used to get around 70 degree celcius and the GPU (a rtx 5060) used to get around 60 degree celcius but now they are both getting a little bit warmer first it was 72 for the cpu then it was 75 and for the gpu first it was 61 to 62 and now its around 63 ı know that this is a very minor increase but still an increase it might have happened because the place ı played them in is hotter but ı am still unsur about it so ı wanted to ask.

I just picked up a used Acer Nitro 16 with a Ryzen 78845HS, RTX 4060, 16gb RAM and 1tb of ssd storage. For around $620. I am quite new to the laptop segment, so i was hoping someone could tell me if i got a good deal or if i got robbed?

The Zephyrus g16 5070ti 2026 Costs 3150€ with intel ultra 9 386H also 32 gb Ram and 1 tb

the zephyrus has a better Anti Reflective OLED screen (pro 5 also has OLED but I've seen it's basically a mirror), Much better battery life (we are talking about 9-10 hours more) and Absolutely better speakers, other then the light chassis. But I don't know if that's worth a 1100€ difference (1255$).

What do you think?

Hi everyone. I need help identifying a performance issue with my Dell G16 laptop.

English is not my first language, as I am a Spanish-speaking user. I used a translator to write this post, so I apologize if some technical terms or sentences are not completely clear.

My specifications are:

• CPU: Intel Core i9-13900HX
• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 Laptop GPU
• Original charger connected
• G-Key Turbo mode enabled
• CPU and GPU fans running at 100%
• Game tested: God of War
• Graphics API: DirectX 11

The game normally runs between 90 and 120 FPS, but at certain moments the performance suddenly drops to around 30–60 FPS.

The strange thing is that when the FPS drop happens, GPU usage and power consumption also decrease instead of remaining close to 100%.

In one of the screenshots, when the game was running normally, MSI Afterburner showed approximately:

• 99 FPS
• GPU usage: 90%
• GPU temperature: 80°C
• GPU power consumption: 117 W
• VRAM usage: approximately 6 GB
• CPU usage: 33%
• CPU temperature: 86°C
• Reported CPU clock speed: approximately 2117 MHz

In another screenshot, during the performance drop, it showed:

• 58 FPS
• GPU usage: 62%
• GPU temperature: 82°C
• GPU power consumption: 88.8 W
• VRAM usage: approximately 6.6 GB
• CPU usage: 71%
• CPU temperature: 89°C
• Reported CPU clock speed: approximately 1814 MHz

What concerns me is that when the FPS drops, GPU usage falls from around 90% to 62%, and GPU power consumption decreases from approximately 117 W to 89 W. At the same time, CPU usage increases and the reported CPU clock speed appears to decrease.

I am also using Dell’s G-Key Turbo mode. Alienware Command Center shows that both the CPU and GPU fans are running at 100%, but the FPS drops still happen even when using the maximum-performance profile.

The Alienware Command Center screenshot shows:

• G-Key Turbo mode enabled
• CPU fan at 100%
• GPU fan at 100%
• CPU temperature: 49°C
• GPU temperature: 34°C

That screenshot was taken outside the most demanding part of the game, so those temperatures should not be directly compared with the in-game screenshots. I am mainly including it to show that Turbo mode was enabled and both fans were already running at maximum speed.

Bought this XMG Apex 16 Max in April because it had an Easter deal for 2400 €. It has a 2TB SSD, 32GB 5600MT/s fast DDR5 RAM and a ryzen 9 9955hx paired with a rtx 5070 ti.

Absolutely love it, especially because of the mini LED display. Undervolted the CPU in BIOS via curve optimizer on all cores with a value of -20 and no crashes or noticed instabilities ever since. Limited FPS at 75 and switched from Nvidia Optimus to dGPU only to enjoy games in max settings and still have low CPU temperatures. I never really saw the GPU running hot except when benchmarking or using extreme settings in recent games with higher FPS limits.

I know this CPU is built to push and boost hard until it hits its temp limit but since I often play on the couch with the wife watching TV I like to minimize fan action as much as possible and still keep the mean temps low without compromising on quality settings. On top of that 75 FPS is more than enough for my old gamerdad eyes and definitely more than they were used to.

Got myself the beautiful Zephyrus with 5080, 32Gb RAM and 2Tb storage. Paid a lot of money for it, and I don’t know if I like it or not. It’s annoying to have all of these performance regimes, few from windows itself few from Armory and few from G Helper, I feel that they always mix with each other because every time I turn on the laptop - I have no idea what regime I’m now. Sometimes the Hide Taskbar gets deactivated by itself, and the dGPU transition to iGPU and vice versa makes the screen freeze for a little bit. Maybe I just need to learn how to use it, however so far it’s just somewhat complicated lol

Hi, I'm currently looking to buy a ROG Zephyrus G14 and have been shopping around on ebay since they are so expensive and I am a student. I have an offer to buy one with a 5070, 32gb ddr5 and 1tb ssd for around £1500. However this device is used and has a max battery capacity or 69.8mWh of the original 73mWh when new. I was wondering whether it's worth purchasing this or buying a new zephyrus with a 5060 but the same specs otherwise new battery instead for a similar price. For a bit of context, I am buying this machine to use as my only device for both gaming and work - computer science and dabbling in AI - so the battery definetly needs to last a long time. Would appreciate any opinions on this!

I read that there were fan noise problems with the Intel Ultra 7 255 HX and also wifi problems with Realtek but I don't know it it's the AMD or the Intel version that has the wifi problem so i don't know which one to choose as the speed of the wifi is also really important for me. And I heard there were also heat problems in the Intel one?

Also, there are Loq laptops so I don't know which laptop between these two or a Loq should I buy?
