Discussion / Conversation Unverified: Rumors on the Chase page

Keep in mind this is not verified.

A user posted over in r/ChaseSapphire that a Chase branch employee suggested there may be a new Sapphire card on the horizon later this year.

Anyone else talk to a Chase employee and hear of any changes or new additions?

Disputed / Inaccurate Large Chase Amazon Prime Card Shutdown Wave

Yesterday, I saw that a lot of people posted that they got their Chase Amazon Prime cards closed. Not a ban from Chase per say, but just that specific card was closed. Seemed like all of them had very high spending on the card.

Discussion / Conversation Robinhood Revamps $695 Platinum Card After Customers Take Issue With Perks

Robinhood is learning just how discerning ultra-luxe credit cardholders can be.

The company known for its trading app is retooling its platinum card after customers complained about the perks when it was announced back in March. For a card that charges a $695 annual fee, many pointed out that some of the perks weren’t as generous as they seemed.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) 5% Dining Card BESIDES CCC

I have a CCC that I use for 5% back on dining, but citi scrapping new applications for the card has me thinking about backups should they force PC current users to a different card down the line. Does anyone use a different card for 5% on dining?

Just a cool little data point. Of course YMMV but I decided to take the chance and was pleasantly surprised to get the 5% for FF as well as the USB merchant offer.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) best travel card with lounge access?

Trying to narrow down my search for travel cards and was trying to figure out the best card that includes lounge access and guests. I travel internationally once a year and maybe 1-2 times a year domestically. Obviously that’s not a lot so I was hoping that annual fees are on the lower side as well.

Help Needed / Question Is it ok having two cards at 18?

Upvotes

I have been paying off my balance and keeping my credit utilization ~5% on my Chase freedom rise and capital one savor card. Is it ok to keep both for the lower credit utilization or should I close one, as Chase has a much higher limit?

Discussion / Conversation Do activated Amex offers disappear after product changing BCP to BCE?

Wondering if anyone can recall if their activated Amex offers disappear after product changing BCP to BCE.

I’ve got a few I’d like to use (paramount+ offer) but they wouldnt be used until after the product change as my annual fee is upcoming. Thinking because it’s a new card after a product change, the Amex offers would reset and I’d lose my currently activated offers on the BCP?

Help Needed / Question Amex Platinum vs Capital One Venture X

Upvotes

I am so torn between the two cannot decide.
I would like to have the perks of using the Amex lounges while traveling as I currently travel once a month for work, I’d also like to use a card for hotels and flights for personal trips. I also go out to eat often so I’d want to use it for those types of credits. As for grocery points, I mainly only shop at Costco and Amex isn’t accepted there but Cap One is. I like the perks and amenities of both cards, I know the Amex platinum would be a better card but I’m trying to justify the $895 fee and wondering if I would get similar perks with just the Venture X.
Looking for any feedback, how your experience has been with the cards, do you have both if so which do you prefer, which do you think is best?

Help Needed / Question Best credit cards for Avail rent payments

Upvotes

My landlord is using Avail to collect rent payments. I am considering using a credit card but there is a heft 3.5% processing fee. Does anyone pay avail with credit cards and if so what does it code as?

I am thinking the guaranteed best I could do is a flat cash back like Capital One Venture but even at 2% it doesn't seem worth it. My other thought would be to use BILT instead.

Help Needed / Question Looking for advice/feedback on current credit card picture

I have 8 credit cards, many of which I opened solely for a welcome bonus and have since stopped using or have become a niche use case. I always pay off my cards in full and never carry a balance. I want to simplify my financial picture by getting rid of cards I don't use but I'm worried about impacts to my credit profile and ability to get cards again down the road should my situation change. I'd also love to hear what people think I should and should not get rid of, general advice, and I am also open to card recommendations.

Currently use:

  • Amazon chase visa - 9 years (Amazon)
  • SoFi mastercard - 4 years (2% catch all)
  • C1 Savor - 3 years (subscriptions)
  • Apple Card - 2 years (Apple purchases)
  • B of A Custom cash - 2 years (gas)
  • Amex Gold - New (Dining, Groceries)

Not in use:

  • WF Expedia Onekey - 2 years (not used)
  • WF Autograph - 1 year (not used, Bilt conversion)

Discussion / Conversation Amtrak Credit Card 99$ Fee

Hi, whats everyones thoughts on the Amtrak credit card with a 99$ annual fee?

I travel from ALB to NYP about once or twice a month. Trying to see if this card is worth the annual fee.

I currently use the Capital One Venture as my catch all card.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Which is the current Non-Chase/amex best SUB for $6k in 3 months or $8k in 4 months? Bus cards are ok. All of my cards are listed in the comment.

Upvotes

P1, P2 are over 5/24, so Chase is out of the question. The vendor won't take Amex, so can't get that either.

P1 is 0/3, 2/6, 7/18.

P2 is 0/3, 1/6, 5/18,

Cap1 Venture both got it last year.

Hawaii Barclays: P1 last year

AAAviator: both p1 and p2 last year

AA Select: p1 this year. P2 rejected twice

Alaska Ascend: both got it last year

Bilt palladium: P2 got it in Apr. I am planning on cancelling and getting it for P1 in Jan. Best way to preserve the Bilt cash due to it expiring at the end of the year.

Gold: got it for P1. Will try for P2 next year after P1's AF hits.

I thought I'd be able to get Chase INK Unlimited, but i found out today that Chase counts your personal 5/24 towards it :/

So now, I am thinking of either opening Hawaii for p2 (use it with Costco) + Strata Premier for P1 or P2 (whoever has a higher chance of getting it) for the other payments.

What other cards can I get? All options on the table as long as it has a worthwhile SUB. it could be CB, card points, hotel points, airline miles. I dont want anything below $250 in SUB and am hoping to open fewer than 3 cards between P1 and P2 for the $8k in spend that I have.

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Card Recommendations and ideas

• Current cards: (list cards, limits, opening date)
Discover IT Card, 1,750, 12/25
Capital One Savor, 2,200 4/26
Fidelity Visa, 500 5/26
CSP 5,000 7/26
• FICO Score: ~720s
• Oldest account age: was an AU on a quicksilver account but got taken off of that right after opening my first card in 12/25
• Chase 5/24 status: 4/24
• Income: ~39,000
• Average monthly spend and categories:
• dining $250
• groceries: live with parents so 0 right now
• gas: $~45-90 depending on how much I drive.
• travel: $~50
• other: $250-359
• Open to Business Cards: No
• What's the purpose of your next card? Looking for a general spend card to use as more of a catch all, I don’t really use the fidelity as much as I should since almost all of my categories have been met with either the discover or savor card, looking at a freedom card from chase, but unsure if I should just wait.
• Do you have any cards you've been looking at? Chase Freedom Unlimited
• Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either or honestly.

Help Needed / Question BofA cut my CCR limit from $17.5k → $$7.5k in 6 months — anyone else?

My Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card oldest card, opened 3y ago has had two limit cuts in the last 6 months:

$17.5k → $12.5k 6 months ago
$12.5k → $7.5k recently

I spend $100–200/month on it and let the balance report before paying in full — never carry interest, never missed a payment.

For comparison, my BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards card 1 year old, $30k limit, 3% utilization/mo hasn't been touched.

Has anyone else seen BofA do this to a CCR card specifically? Was a reconsideration call successful for you, or did it just get cut again later?

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking into a potential travel card that works for me.

Hi everyone!

I had a co-worker friend mention there's a good bonus for Chase Sapphire Preferred rn and I hesitated at first but he mentioned the points and travel perks and I'm intrigued but would wonder if it would be super helpful to me and in general if there's a good travel card for me or if I even need a new one at all.

The reason I'm intrigued is I am doing a pretty big trip from the US East Coast to Europe in November as part of a regular personal business trip (I've done this trip annually for 3 years running and not expecting to stop) and bringing my teen as an assistant and potentially my partner so at least from a points/CB perspective a card for travel doesn't sound insane. Also I typically make multiple trips a year internationally and domestically on flights and Amtrak for primarily business with some personal trips sprinkled in.

Open to any suggestions for personal and/or biz cards or if my co-worker is making a good suggestion or just in general what could work and happy to answer any questions in addition to what I said above and from the template below. Bonus if the card would be good to have my teen on as a way to help their credit but not necessary since I have others.

  • Current cards:
    • Capital One Quicksilver - $1,010 - April 2018
    • Apple Card - $600 - Dec 2021
    • Amex Blue Everyday - $1000 - April 2020
    • BBY Card - $2000 - June 2021
  • FICO Score: 630
  • Oldest account age: 8 yrs, 2 mos
  • Chase 5/24 status: 0/24
  • Income: $82000
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
    • dining $300
    • groceries: $300
    • Utilities: $300
    • travel: $50-300
    • Mortgage: $1539
  • Open to Business Cards: Yes
  • What's the purpose of your next card? Travel
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? e.g. Chase Sapphire Preferred
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either works

Data Point Product changing Citi Strata Elite to CCC not Possible!

Hey everyone, like some of you I was a little late to the game with product changing another of my Citi cards to a Citi Custom Cash, I just ended my live chat with a representative and he said that it was not an option as some of you already speculated/knew.

What I also found out was that the only options that were available, or at least for me, were these cards:

  • Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Card
  • Citi / Advantage Globe Mastercard
  • AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi

I was hoping to at least downgrade the card to the Citi Strata card but that wasn't available, and since my annual fee was hitting this month I decided to just product change the card to the AT&T Points Plus Card, since I do use AT&T as my phone/internet provider. Fingers crossed its an okayish card.

What do you guys think did I just get a bad customer service person?

And for those of you wondering what Eddi said about why those were my only 3 options this was what he said.

"I appreciate your patience,

Current available products:
Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Card
Citi / Advantage Globe Mastercard
Other:
AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi

These conversion options, whether for upgrades or downgrades, are typically part of what we call "periodical offers." This means they are updated and change on a regular basis, much like a rotating selection, to ensure we're offering the most relevant choices at different times.

We definitely encourage you to check back with us in the future, as new card conversion opportunities often become available! We want to ensure you have the best possible card for your needs when the right option comes along."
