Discussion / Conversation Unverified: Rumors on the Chase page

Keep in mind this is not verified.

A user posted over in r/ChaseSapphire that a Chase branch employee suggested there may be a new Sapphire card on the horizon later this year.

Anyone else talk to a Chase employee and hear of any changes or new additions?

Disputed / Inaccurate Large Chase Amazon Prime Card Shutdown Wave

Yesterday, I saw that a lot of people posted that they got their Chase Amazon Prime cards closed. Not a ban from Chase per say, but just that specific card was closed. Seemed like all of them had very high spending on the card.

Discussion / Conversation Robinhood Revamps $695 Platinum Card After Customers Take Issue With Perks

Robinhood is learning just how discerning ultra-luxe credit cardholders can be.

The company known for its trading app is retooling its platinum card after customers complained about the perks when it was announced back in March. For a card that charges a $695 annual fee, many pointed out that some of the perks weren’t as generous as they seemed.

Just a cool little data point. Of course YMMV but I decided to take the chance and was pleasantly surprised to get the 5% for FF as well as the USB merchant offer.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) best travel card with lounge access?

Trying to narrow down my search for travel cards and was trying to figure out the best card that includes lounge access and guests. I travel internationally once a year and maybe 1-2 times a year domestically. Obviously that’s not a lot so I was hoping that annual fees are on the lower side as well.

Help Needed / Question BofA cut my CCR limit from $17.5k → $$7.5k in 6 months — anyone else?

Upvotes

My Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card oldest card, opened 3y ago has had two limit cuts in the last 6 months:

$17.5k → $12.5k 6 months ago
$12.5k → $7.5k recently

I spend $100–200/month on it and let the balance report before paying in full — never carry interest, never missed a payment.

For comparison, my BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards card 1 year old, $30k limit, 3% utilization/mo hasn't been touched.

Has anyone else seen BofA do this to a CCR card specifically? Was a reconsideration call successful for you, or did it just get cut again later?

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking into a potential travel card that works for me.

Hi everyone!

I had a co-worker friend mention there's a good bonus for Chase Sapphire Preferred rn and I hesitated at first but he mentioned the points and travel perks and I'm intrigued but would wonder if it would be super helpful to me and in general if there's a good travel card for me or if I even need a new one at all.

The reason I'm intrigued is I am doing a pretty big trip from the US East Coast to Europe in November as part of a regular personal business trip (I've done this trip annually for 3 years running and not expecting to stop) and bringing my teen as an assistant and potentially my partner so at least from a points/CB perspective a card for travel doesn't sound insane. Also I typically make multiple trips a year internationally and domestically on flights and Amtrak for primarily business with some personal trips sprinkled in.

Open to any suggestions for personal and/or biz cards or if my co-worker is making a good suggestion or just in general what could work and happy to answer any questions in addition to what I said above and from the template below. Bonus if the card would be good to have my teen on as a way to help their credit but not necessary since I have others.

  • Current cards:
    • Capital One Quicksilver - $1,010 - April 2018
    • Apple Card - $600 - Dec 2021
    • Amex Blue Everyday - $1000 - April 2020
    • BBY Card - $2000 - June 2021
  • FICO Score: 630
  • Oldest account age: 8 yrs, 2 mos
  • Chase 5/24 status: 0/24
  • Income: $82000
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
    • dining $300
    • groceries: $300
    • Utilities: $300
    • travel: $50-300
    • Mortgage: $1539
  • Open to Business Cards: Yes
  • What's the purpose of your next card? Travel
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? e.g. Chase Sapphire Preferred
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either works

Data Point Product changing Citi Strata Elite to CCC not Possible!

Hey everyone, like some of you I was a little late to the game with product changing another of my Citi cards to a Citi Custom Cash, I just ended my live chat with a representative and he said that it was not an option as some of you already speculated/knew.

What I also found out was that the only options that were available, or at least for me, were these cards:

  • Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Card
  • Citi / Advantage Globe Mastercard
  • AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi

I was hoping to at least downgrade the card to the Citi Strata card but that wasn't available, and since my annual fee was hitting this month I decided to just product change the card to the AT&T Points Plus Card, since I do use AT&T as my phone/internet provider. Fingers crossed its an okayish card.

What do you guys think did I just get a bad customer service person?

And for those of you wondering what Eddi said about why those were my only 3 options this was what he said.

"I appreciate your patience,

Current available products:
Citi/AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite Card
Citi / Advantage Globe Mastercard
Other:
AT&T Points Plus Card from Citi

These conversion options, whether for upgrades or downgrades, are typically part of what we call "periodical offers." This means they are updated and change on a regular basis, much like a rotating selection, to ensure we're offering the most relevant choices at different times.

We definitely encourage you to check back with us in the future, as new card conversion opportunities often become available! We want to ensure you have the best possible card for your needs when the right option comes along."

Help Needed / Question Help me decide between the two

Hi everyone, so I am looking for a grocery card since that’s the last “gap” I need to fill.

I can’t decide between Amex BCP (which I will downgrade after 1st year to BCE) or the C1 Savor

Current cards:
WF autograph
Chase sapphire preferred (got for sub)
Chase freedom unlimited
Fidelity visa

Grocery spend ~350/month

General monthly spend ~1,100/month

I think the entertainment category would be nice on the savor card and sub is easier to get…but the 6% groceries is pulling me in

Any input or opinions are appreciated

Thanks

Help Needed / Question Is it worth it to go out of my Chase ecosystem for a higher catch all rate?

I've been considering a Venture X card as a catch all (and for the SUB). I currently have Flex, Freedom Unlimited and CSP.

Is it worth it strictly for the better 0.5 catch all rate that I get on my Freedom Unlimited? We will use the travel benefits so I'm not worried about the annual fee.

Help Needed / Question Barclays approval; temp limit?

Hi all! I applied for the Barclays Samsung Card and was instantly approved. It said my temporary credit limit is $1,800.00 and I will know my full limit when the card arrives. I chatted with customer service and they said that they can only see the temporary limit. So I googled everything I could to try and see if anyone else has had this experience, and found nothing. If anyone has gone through this with Barclays, is the temporary limit half of what my limit will be? Is the temporary limit my actual limit? Is it a certain percentage? Clearly I’m impatient… 😅

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Card Recommendation Request

  • Current Card:
    • BankAmericard $5,000 limit, May 2024
  • FICO Score: 780
  • Oldest account age: 2 years 2 months
  • Chase 5/24: 0/24 (I haven't applied for a new card since)
  • Income: ~ $30,000-$35,000
  • Average monthly spend:
    • Dining: $200 - $300
    • Groceries: $100 - $200
    • Investing: $500 to my RothIRA
    • Travel: $2000 (a year)
    • Other: $50 (subscriptions)
  • Not open to Business Cards
  • Purpose: Everyday spending/Cashback
  • Cards I have been looking at: Chase Freedom Unlimited and Flex, Citi Double Cash
  • Looking for General Spending Card
  • Other Info & TL;DR:
    • I plan to keep my BankAmericard for subscriptions to maintain my long-standing credit, just need a new everyday spending card.
    • Looking for a card to apply to now and potential card plans (Chase Trifecta?).
    • Income only reflects current part-time job ($25 an hour, ~20-25 hour weeks unfixed).
    • We do travel as a family often, so the $2,000 is referring to extraneous travel expenditure (hotels, airbnb, flights). A card without foreign-spending fees is a huge plus but not an absolute must for right now. Ideally, I'd want one in the future (3-5 years from now?).

Hi, I'm a fresh grad currently working a part-time job and I've been using the BankAmericard to build up my credit for the past few years. I didn't really look into the details of the card since my parents just sent me the link and told me to apply, but now that I live in the US again full-time, I realized that the card doesn't have any rewards (except for a few deals that you have to apply for before using).

Now, that I'm working and using my credit card more often, I'm trying to phase out my BankAmericard and find a card that has some kind of benefit or rewards system to make the most out of my money. At the very least, I was able to build my credit score with my previous card but I'd like to make better use of the money I spend. I also am currently living at home, but am planning to move out within the next 2-3 years.

Please give recommendations and advice (second card and card plans)! Looking forward to seeing your reponses and thanks in advance! :))

Help Needed / Question Citi Aadvantage Business 4506c Request

I recently applied for the Aadvantage Business Card and Citi is asking for a 4506c form; usually, is this for identity/income verification? I put an accurate figure for income on my application (slightly underestimated, actually) but I just moved into the residential address I put on my application, which is different from my previous address that is most likely listed on my personal credit reports. Would this be an issue if they check my tax returns and see my old address on it?

Data Point BofA Preapproval doesn't work

I applied for the Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card after their pre-approval tool gave me the green light. I even chatted with a BoA rep before applying, and they said it should be approved.

But after I submitted the application, I got denied.

The denial letter said:

  • No existing relationship with Bank of America
  • Too many recently opened cards (5/24, 3/12)

It might be known broadly but i wasn't aware. So just a heads-up—getting a green pre-approval doesn't necessarily mean you'll be approved.

I am not sure whether reconsideration line exists for BofA.

Help Needed / Question Amrican express Blue Cash Everyday

Upvotes

Im 19 I currently have the capital one platinum credit card no benefits really but I've had it for almost a year my credit score(fico) is 730 and im considering getting the amex bce for gas I also want to get the capital one savor for restaurants. I currently have an offer to upgrade to the quicksilver capital one card so I would get that upgrade as well obviously I wouldn't do all of that at one time so that my credit doesnt plummet is it a smart move to have 3 credit cards? I typically keep my usage under 10% i just learned that I could use the cards and have the benefits and pay it down to under 10% before the statement date so that it's reported as under 10% so I'd probably end up doing that since it'd be money that im already spending I'd just be getting 3% back for it and hopefully making my credit better.

Discussion / Conversation Finally got my Freedom Rise!

Upvotes

It's been 4 months since I've turned 18, and I managed to get into the chase and capitol one ecosystem. I got the Capitol One Platinum with a 300$ limit, and the Chase Freedom rise card with 600$ limit. I want to start building a history with both, and was wondering what the best approach is. Should I be maxing out the cards or keeping the utilization under 30%, I pay the statement balance every month regardless. I won't be needing my credit pulled anytime soon, so I'm not to worried about utilization factors. My goal is to get the small credit limit increases and work towards better cards. Obviously the freedom card gives more rewards.

Help Needed / Question One travel card or individual reward cards

Im switching jobs where I'll be traveling once a week for a night or 2. I live in a Delta hub and my family has a preference of Marriot hotels (favorite in az for fun). Is it better to get one travel card such as capital one venture or use individual cards for flight, hotel and rental car? I want to use the points for fun traveling with the family. I already hold a delta card but nothing else at the moment. Never had the opportunity to get rewards like this so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Discussion / Conversation Paze Credits - Datapoints & Next Steps

Wondering how people are faring on getting Paze statement credit back, and if people can share:

  1. Bank
  2. Average time since last Paze transaction

For example, for myself:
- Capital One, 10 days ago, 9/10 statements given back. I reached out to support and they A) can’t tell me what transaction is missing credit and B) claim it probably wasn’t Paze which isn’t true
- Bank of America, 7 days ago, 3/13 statements given. Absolutely horrendous for me here, I think they are only giving me a single $10 credit for Sephora, anyone else?
- Citi, 10 days ago, perfect 4/4 but this was all Dunkin

Sephora seems to be the big loser going on. My main question is, are we actually waiting 2 billing cycles or can we just assume something is wrong past 10 business days and we need to call, especially if we were issued credits on a particular card already for other orders around the same time?

Edit: Thanks to commenter below, I can now confirm that Bank of America labeled 10 of my Sephora transactions without the “Digital Wallet Name” set to “Paze”. I received 2 credits for the 2 purchases where it was set to. I don’t think this is a patience game anymore, I’ll probably have to call and fight about those posted transactions.
