Help Needed / Question BofA cut my CCR limit from $17.5k → $$7.5k in 6 months — anyone else?

Upvotes

My Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card oldest card, opened 3y ago has had two limit cuts in the last 6 months:

$17.5k → $12.5k 6 months ago
$12.5k → $7.5k recently

I spend $100–200/month on it and let the balance report before paying in full — never carry interest, never missed a payment.

For comparison, my BofA Unlimited Cash Rewards card 1 year old, $30k limit, 3% utilization/mo hasn't been touched.

Has anyone else seen BofA do this to a CCR card specifically? Was a reconsideration call successful for you, or did it just get cut again later?

Help Needed / Question Want a good first Credit Card

Upvotes

This has been annoying me for a while and I can’t seem to find the right option for a FIRST credit card. (I have a 789 score on credit karma because I was an authorized user for years)

I spend 300/month on Gas, 200/month on Restaurant’s/Takeout, 50/month Online purchases. Pretty much all my expenses currently.

Question:

Will my authorized user score help me be a good candidate for a first card? Or does that not even matter to banks since I never had a card personally?

What’s the best CASHBACK I can get for my current expenses? (When I say cash back I mean like cash in my bank account not rewards bs).

Are those weird like Verizon/AAA/ low name cards bootleg and advised against?

Am I overthinking it?

I also do not want an annual fee. And I want to be able to withdrawal cash back from the credit card to my different bank checking account.

Discussion / Conversation Unverified: Rumors on the Chase page

Upvotes

Keep in mind this is not verified.

A user posted over in r/ChaseSapphire that a Chase branch employee suggested there may be a new Sapphire card on the horizon later this year.

Anyone else talk to a Chase employee and hear of any changes or new additions?

Help Needed / Question Barclays approval; temp limit?

Upvotes

Hi all! I applied for the Barclays Samsung Card and was instantly approved. It said my temporary credit limit is $1,800.00 and I will know my full limit when the card arrives. I chatted with customer service and they said that they can only see the temporary limit. So I googled everything I could to try and see if anyone else has had this experience, and found nothing. If anyone has gone through this with Barclays, is the temporary limit half of what my limit will be? Is the temporary limit my actual limit? Is it a certain percentage? Clearly I’m impatient… 😅

Help Needed / Question Can't Have Chase Ink Cash and Unlimited at the same time

Upvotes

I opened a Chase Ink Cash 2.5 years ago. Yesterday I was pre-approved for the Chase Ink Unlimited, applied, and got the 7-10 days message. Today on recon, they are telling me that there is a new rule that a cardholder cannot have 2 Chase no-fee business cards.

Has anyone encountered this?

Edit: I mean that you cannot hold both cards according to chase lending team and underwriting teams. Nothing to do with SUBs

Help Needed / Question Citi Aadvantage Business 4506c Request

Upvotes

I recently applied for the Aadvantage Business Card and Citi is asking for a 4506c form; usually, is this for identity/income verification? I put an accurate figure for income on my application (slightly underestimated, actually) but I just moved into the residential address I put on my application, which is different from my previous address that is most likely listed on my personal credit reports. Would this be an issue if they check my tax returns and see my old address on it?

Help Needed / Question Help me decide between the two

Hi everyone, so I am looking for a grocery card since that’s the last “gap” I need to fill.

I can’t decide between Amex BCP (which I will downgrade after 1st year to BCE) or the C1 Savor

Current cards:
WF autograph
Chase sapphire preferred (got for sub)
Chase freedom unlimited
Fidelity visa

Grocery spend ~350/month

General monthly spend ~1,100/month

I think the entertainment category would be nice on the savor card and sub is easier to get…but the 6% groceries is pulling me in

Any input or opinions are appreciated

Thanks

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) Unemployments for years basic credit

So I have no proof of income and I'm planning to claim a small amount of money I made for tax purposes. And not sure if I'll go to school this fall.... but curious

What kind of credit card can I apply with with no real source of income?

I have some loans on my account and score is around 595?

I went to my bank and told them I have no proof of income, lady said I would t get approved without former tax info.

In the meantime I'll try to figure out my taxes... I have a few thousand dollars a year from onlyfans for reference I'm in the USA...

Help Needed / Question Can I get 2 SUBs if I apply for both simultaneously?

I have decided I want to get the Chase Ink Business Cash and the Chase Ink Business Unlimited, both have a very attractive SUB right now. Can I possibly get these both if I apply for them together? Is it possible to accept both and possibly get each SUB?

Or is this more likely to blow up in my face with a declination instead of just missing out on a SUB?

Chase says it the sub may not be available if you have ever had this card or another Chase card without an annual fee.

Eligibility should not be a concern.

Card Recommendation Request (Template NOT Used) best travel card with lounge access?

Trying to narrow down my search for travel cards and was trying to figure out the best card that includes lounge access and guests. I travel internationally once a year and maybe 1-2 times a year domestically. Obviously that’s not a lot so I was hoping that annual fees are on the lower side as well.

Help Needed / Question Picking between the Amex Gold Card and Citi Stata Premier

Right now I am considering getting the Amex gold card or the citi strata premier. I was approved (pre-approved) and am waiting to accpet my offer with a welcome bonus of 60,000 points when i spend 8k in 6 months on the amex. I havent applied for the citi card yet.

I am a current sophmore going into my junior year where I will be studying abroad in london in the fall. Food is by far my biggest category. I want to accumulate points and am not willing to use chase cards. I am worried about the heafy 325 fee on amex but my parents offered to cover it for year one and i think i would use the credits, but am considering it long term. The citi fee being lower is much nicer but i almost definitely wouldnt use the credit. There is a slim possibility that my parents would give the money to me to use abroad if i didnt use it on the amex card, but theres a larger chance I would lose it.

I currently have the amex blue cash every day, capital one savor, and discover it student cash back. If you had to give me a recommendation, between the two cards which should i pick

Data Point Can soft pulls / pre-qualifications cause “too many inquiries” when requesting a CLI?

Hi everyone .I have only 2 inquiries on my credit report, and they are both about 7 months old.
When I request a credit limit increase, they give me “too many inquiries” as the reason.
I’ve had a lot of soft pulls from pre-qualifications. I also had other hard inquiries in the past, but I had those removed from my credit reports.
I’m trying to understand what they mean by “too many inquiries.”
Are they counting the soft pulls from all the pre-qualifications I’ve done?
Or can they still see the hard inquiries that were removed from my credit reports and count those against me?

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Card Recommendation Request

  • Current Card:
    • BankAmericard $5,000 limit, May 2024
  • FICO Score: 780
  • Oldest account age: 2 years 2 months
  • Chase 5/24: 0/24 (I haven't applied for a new card since)
  • Income: ~ $30,000-$35,000
  • Average monthly spend:
    • Dining: $200 - $300
    • Groceries: $100 - $200
    • Investing: $500 to my RothIRA
    • Travel: $2000 (a year)
    • Other: $50 (subscriptions)
  • Not open to Business Cards
  • Purpose: Everyday spending/Cashback
  • Cards I have been looking at: Chase Freedom Unlimited and Flex, Citi Double Cash
  • Looking for General Spending Card
  • Other Info & TL;DR:
    • I plan to keep my BankAmericard for subscriptions to maintain my long-standing credit, just need a new everyday spending card.
    • Looking for a card to apply to now and potential card plans (Chase Trifecta?).
    • Income only reflects current part-time job ($25 an hour, ~20-25 hour weeks unfixed).
    • We do travel as a family often, so the $2,000 is referring to extraneous travel expenditure (hotels, airbnb, flights). A card without foreign-spending fees is a huge plus but not an absolute must for right now. Ideally, I'd want one in the future (3-5 years from now?).

Hi, I'm a fresh grad currently working a part-time job and I've been using the BankAmericard to build up my credit for the past few years. I didn't really look into the details of the card since my parents just sent me the link and told me to apply, but now that I live in the US again full-time, I realized that the card doesn't have any rewards (except for a few deals that you have to apply for before using).

Now, that I'm working and using my credit card more often, I'm trying to phase out my BankAmericard and find a card that has some kind of benefit or rewards system to make the most out of my money. At the very least, I was able to build my credit score with my previous card but I'd like to make better use of the money I spend. I also am currently living at home, but am planning to move out within the next 2-3 years.

Please give recommendations and advice (second card and card plans)! Looking forward to seeing your reponses and thanks in advance! :))

Card Recommendation Request (Template Used) Looking into a potential travel card that works for me.

Hi everyone!

I had a co-worker friend mention there's a good bonus for Chase Sapphire Preferred rn and I hesitated at first but he mentioned the points and travel perks and I'm intrigued but would wonder if it would be super helpful to me and in general if there's a good travel card for me or if I even need a new one at all.

The reason I'm intrigued is I am doing a pretty big trip from the US East Coast to Europe in November as part of a regular personal business trip (I've done this trip annually for 3 years running and not expecting to stop) and bringing my teen as an assistant and potentially my partner so at least from a points/CB perspective a card for travel doesn't sound insane. Also I typically make multiple trips a year internationally and domestically on flights and Amtrak for primarily business with some personal trips sprinkled in.

Open to any suggestions for personal and/or biz cards or if my co-worker is making a good suggestion or just in general what could work and happy to answer any questions in addition to what I said above and from the template below. Bonus if the card would be good to have my teen on as a way to help their credit but not necessary since I have others.

  • Current cards:
    • Capital One Quicksilver - $1,010 - April 2018
    • Apple Card - $600 - Dec 2021
    • Amex Blue Everyday - $1000 - April 2020
    • BBY Card - $2000 - June 2021
  • FICO Score: 630
  • Oldest account age: 8 yrs, 2 mos
  • Chase 5/24 status: 0/24
  • Income: $82000
  • Average monthly spend and categories:
    • dining $300
    • groceries: $300
    • Utilities: $300
    • travel: $50-300
    • Mortgage: $1539
  • Open to Business Cards: Yes
  • What's the purpose of your next card? Travel
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? e.g. Chase Sapphire Preferred
  • Are you OK with category spending or do you want a general spending card? Either works

Help Needed / Question Capital One Venture X Business Card with no revenue?

I checked my eligibility (pre-approval) for Capital One Venture X Business Card with limited revenue ($5K/year) and spend ($500/month) and it keeps showing the most basic Spark card.. is there some spend and revenue threshold to get this approved? I've seen so many posts of people getting business card with 0 revenue -- how were you successful?
I entered sole proprietorship and was thinking of selling used items on Poshmark and marketplace..

My credit score is 815 and don't have any other business credit card.
