This horse has been beaten dead, but I don't care. I'm here to complain again. I personally don't mind screens, but you have to make an effort to make the software good. In what world did Audi think it was acceptable to ship the software in a state that the navigation screen has 20% bezels on all corners? For what reason? It's not a hardware limitation because we know the screen has a larger real estate. For some fucking reason, they just decided not to use the full screen when it comes to navigation.

Discussion Can I just use Clorox wipes to clean this?

I had mental health issues going on for the past couple of weeks and neglected the inside of my car while maintaining the outside of appearance of a clean car.

- main things I’m asking about is the center console since I’m not sure if it’s real wood or not
- it’s only food and drink stains since my family would eat in my car a lot

If it helps I drive an Q5 2019 premium plus

Haldex Service is a must.

Wanted to prep for the road trip(2k miles), so I did the oil change Mobile 1 ESP X2, spark plugs NGK Laser, Rear brake pads only, and the Haldex Service. Highly recommend, if you have it, to do it! Audi recommends every 3yrs. Pretty sure it was never done before, 52k now, but car feels sooo much better, smoother! It’s a must.

My new to me 2019 SQ5 comes with a story.

This little number has 58K miles but only has 6k on a new motor, water pump, motor mounts and plugs which were all replaced by a highly rated Audi dealer.

I shopped for a good minute, viewed and evaluated most all 2019-2020 SQ5s on the west coast, found this one and passed it up when I saw the CarFax listing the repair history. At first I'm like, that's a lot of major scary work done, certainly that's a risky ride, right? Then in thinking about it, many of the big $$$ issues talked about here had already been addressed with new, possibly updated parts. I dug in to find a 30 page $25k invoice, complete with color cover page, documenting the exact repairs the dealer did. In fact, all services to date were done by the dealer well ahead of the scheduled maintenance intervals, including the 60k service which was completed recently.

I decided to take the risk and bought it! $26k OTD. Drove it back from LA to the Bay Area last night, so far I'm pretty pleased with my decision and absolutely love driving this machine! From 65mph to 125 like nothing!

So was this just Vegas thinking, whimsical or?

Only issue, it only came with one key FOB. Anyone have advice on how not to pay $500+ for one?

Tech PSA: mibsolution.one is back online

Down for a year, it’s up again. It’s slow, so be patient. I’m sure a Reddit hug of death won’t help either, but for those of you with older cars looking to update firmware or maps, it’s a useful repository. Of course it’s all DIY and at your own risk. And, for clarity, i have nothing to do with the site. I just noticed it was back online and thought some of you might want to check it out.

If you get a cloud flare error, just wait a little while (15 minutes?) and try again.

Happy updating!!

Including an obligatory picture of me in my TT on a recent road trip

Not a great day…

Got rear ended today. Car shut off and couldn’t be moved without dragging it.

By far this had to be my favorite daily car I have owned. Lots of adventures were had in this car. Bourbon hunts, trips across the country, and even ones just because. Fairly certain it will be a total loss.

Rubbing vibration noise on turns

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2017 Audi TT mk3, rubbing/vibration when turning wheel. Not full lock but has to be turned a decent amount for it to happen and seems to be more prevalent when there is bumps or an incline while turning.

Weirdest thing is it pretty much goes away after I’ve driven around for a while. In the video it blends in with the engine noise but you can hear it at first when I turn.

Discussion New Q5?

Post image
4 Upvotes

This isn't for me, but more-so for my mum. For reference I am based in the UK.

My mum passed her driving test in 2014, and has only ever had three cars since then. This being a Vauxhall Corsa, then a Ford Fiesta, and now a Ford Kuga. The pattern I've noticed is that she does keep her cars, she had her Fiesta for 8 years before taking on my dad's Kuga last year.

We had an Audi Q2 (mum's choice) back in 2019 ordered from new. It was an S Line, but it was a 6 speed TDI and it was awfully slow, so my mum made my dad keep it until the lease was up and he went and bought the Kuga, whilst my mum kept her Fiesta.

She loves her Kuga, and having a bigger car, but her dream car has always been a Q5. She's never seriously thought about getting one, until recently. My dad brought it up to her (if it was up to my mum, I think she'd still have her Corsa from 12 years ago), and they've spent the time recently looking at a Q5, specifically in District Green (maybe Ultra Blue at a push, but my mum is adamant on green).

Although all of the cars she's had are not typically "fast", she loves speed. So, my dad even proposed the idea of maybe an SQ5? I assume this will be the previous generation, so I think this depends on what can be found with what they both want.

Basically I know i've just waffled on, but I wanted to give backstory to my mum as a person and what I think she'd like in a car. She prefers the Sportback over the regular SUV size, and I really don't think she's going to let up on District Green.

If anyone else in here has the new shape Q5 or the old shape SQ5 (or even new too), if you could comment and give me any more knowledge that I can hand over. This is also just super exciting for me, I've been trying to convince my dad to put her back in an Audi for years now!

Tech 3D Printed Oil Filler Funnel

Hey everyone!

Looking to do something nice for my technicians I work with. Wondering if anyone knows of or can point me in the direction of a B10 threaded oil funnel I could print for my guys? The ceiling mounted guns are annoying with the new engines and, just wanting to make their days a little easier.

Cheers y'all!

What’s happening to my rim?

The yellow color is the reflection of the parking line next to it so it’s not discolored. But rim itself is getting textured? It’s does not feel like the clear cut has bubbled, it’s the actual rim itself I think. It does not flex or anything when pressed on. Any ideas?
