Question Alternatives for International

Upvotes

I work half the month in Europe. My 256kbps is a joke as it rarely functions. I’m being forced to yet another plan. If I want any kind of chance at a reliable international connection it’s going to be $180 for two lines on whatever their premium plan is. It’s just too many price hikes for me. No, I’m not giving you unlimited access to my checking account for your next security breach. No, I don’t trust your price guarantee because you’ll just change the plan so you don’t have to honor it.

So it looks like the best alternative is to get something like google fi or similar cheapo low priority plan for the states and an eSIM for Europe. Does anybody have any suggestions for either?

Does T-Mobile plan to keep the GO plans without raising prices or forcing us over to more expensive plans? Or are our days numbered as well?

Question Essentials Sign-up Tips: Timing and Location?

Upvotes

My family (4 lines) currently has Google Fi Unlimited Standard plan ($25/month/line). Looking at switching to T-Mobile essentials to take advantage of free phone deals. None of us uses more than 50gb/month or even close to it.

Any tips on:

  1. Timing? I know new devices are coming in the fall, unsure if it's better to switch now or switch later
  2. Location? Online, in-store, or in Sam's Club? I'm a member and I know Sam's Club does some deals but not sure what would apply to an Essentials plan.

Question 2-line plan, but want to change to 1-line and cancel other due to the owner passing away

Upvotes

(This might sound overly convoluted, but I'll try to simplify it)

  • I'm on a 2-line plan with T-Mobile (after US Cellular acquisition) that is under my mother's name. She unfortunately passed away
  • I have all the online login credentials with access to the account and made all payments
  • She got her phone (which I have) through US Cellular under a payment plan, which might be paid off by now (not seeing any specific chargers on recent bills via T-Mobile app)
  • I want to transfer to a much cheaper plan (possibly Mint) with only my phone and cancel her phone. I'm afraid of doing it wrong and getting random charges for her phone still

I've done a bit of google and reddit searches, but haven't found any concrete answers

Question Temp Phone Unlock For International Travel?

Upvotes

Hey so I wanted to ask if t mobile would do a temp unlock of my phone while I travel to a place where their coverage isn’t really good at all so I could get an eSIM for the time being ? I heard if you ask nicely and give a good reason with the account being in good standing and they’ll do it. Thanks!

Discussion Magenta Amplified moved to Experience Signature

Upvotes

I know there's some folks on Magenta Amplified, it was the plan you got if you worked for a qualifying employer. It gave you the Magenta Max benefits at the Magenta price but we didn't get the full Netflix benefit.

I was moved to Experience Signature and got the first bill. The price went up $1 per line for me. My base was $130 after autopay and now it's $132. Each line was $25 after autopay and now it's $26. This is after the $5 per line increase that happened last time. So total of $6 per line over the 2 increases.

The only extra benefit that we got is the increased hotspot 40gig to 60gig and Canada/Mexico 15gig from 5gig. They always say we don't have 5gig international everywhere but we did, it was never restricted to the 11 countries, because it matched Magenta Max, so now the 5gig international is official.

I checked trade in values and it's the lowest amount that you get. We used to get the Magenta Max trade in values but that was killed a few years ago when the Magenta Max values were killed.

Discussion New sales rep

I just started a new job at a third party retailer as a sales rep. I’m looking for any tips/tricks to learn the systems, make transactions quicker without rushing them and general pitching advice as I’m getting a lot of “I’ll come back on xyz” or “I need to talk to xyz first” 😭I had a customer buy me lunch yesterday so I’m not doing horrible lol. I just want to feel more knowledgeable and comfortable. I know third party retailers aren’t the best, but there’s no envy or competition compared to corporate locations. I’m a mom working 10 hour shifts only 3 days a week so I want to make the best out of my shifts 😁😁 thank you all

Question Just received my bill, no change atm

I received the text message regarding my plan will be increased by up to $6 per line a month ago.

Today, I finally received the bill, no change to it. Did they reverse the previous decision? Or my current bill is incorrect.

Question Download Speed: Personal Unlimited Tablet Line vs Business Unlimited Tablet Line

Post image

I have an Unlimited Tablet line on my personal account and here are the speeds I currently get. Is there any truth that the Unlimited Business Tablet line has higher prioritization? Would I see faster speeds on a Business Tablet line? I currently pay $25 for it on my personal account and it would be $15 on a business account.

Question Should I bother trying to get my remaining balance paid off now? (Fi to T-Mobile)

I switched to T-Mobile a month and a half ago; I was planning on switching at the end of the year, but with rising costs of memory due to the AI boom and being severely pissed off about yet another reported iOS issue with a website I maintained (I was going to switch to an iPhone so I can actually test the standards-incompliant webkit), I decided to see if I could switch early and have the rest of my bill paid off.

I go into my local T-Mobile store and ask - can I switch from Google Fi to T-Mobile and have my remaining balance paid off? I also brought in my 2 previous bills.

They said yes, got me my new iPhone 17 Pro, and got me set up to trade in my Android device.

After fighting with Google Fi to finally get access to my final bills (they don't make it clear or easy - and their support is awful, hence switching), I do the process online to get my payment card or whatever to pay off my bill.. 2 days later I get a call from T-Mobile, and we go through a number of things to try and get the info they need to complete it, but there are some hurdles.

My bills don't have an account # on them, nor do they say specifically "here is the remaining balance on your device". As well, my phone # transfer apparently doesn't show as an actual transfer from another carrier..

So they tell me to talk to the rep in-store to get it taken care of there.

My question is this: Am I just screwed, and is it worth it to even try? I'm guessing the rep at the store probably had no clue and wasn't paying any attention outside of "Sale make line go up" (and they were a store manager).

I owe $350 on my device, and the bill comes due Monday. I thankfully have emergency funds, but this still pisses me off to no end, and if I can't at least get some compensation there I'm going to be even more unhappy.

There's not a lot of good options in my region for carriers, so it's not like I can just switch to another; They all pretty much suck in different ways.

Oh, and aside: T-Mobile's offer redemption website is broken in Firefox; I was able to get it to function in Edge, though (so presumably Chrome works too, since they share the same rendering engine).

Question Question about debt after death of account user

My daughter in law (49) died on the 9th of this month. She and my son (50) are disabled. I've been taking care of my son since birth on and off his marriages. I am sorting out their many financial issues including the phone bill. Wife and son are very poor and she ran up the bill to $1000. We just discovered this when trying to settle their bill at the company store in Virginia. She had purchased several watches, phones and tablets to pay off over time. The rep never even acknowledged a bit of sympathy for her death, and her attitude was' take it or leave it' when we asked for a bereavement offer of any kind. She added penalties and extra charges for non autopay. I'm sorry if this is long but I'm at my wits end on how to deal with the fact none of us has the money to pay this and all our phones will be shut off soon. Has anyone had any luck with writing to the company and asking for a bereavement adjustment?

TL/DR: Son is responsible for huge family phone bill T-Mobile won't work with us.
