Discussion T-Mobile sent me this as a “certified” warranty replacement under Protection 360

My S23 Ultra developed severe battery drain, so T-Mobile processed a warranty replacement through my Protection 360 coverage.

This is what arrived.

The replacement was visibly used, dirty, poorly packaged, and still had the previous owner’s scratched and peeling screen protector attached. I did not remove it, activate the phone, or transfer any data.

Support offered me a $20 credit and ordered another device, which the automated text explicitly identified as CPO. I canceled that order because I no longer trust the replacement inventory and will keep using my current phone until I upgrade.

I understand that warranty replacements may be refurbished. My issue is that a device presented as certified pre-owned should at least be cleaned, inspected, and properly packaged. Leaving another customer’s damaged screen protector attached means nobody could have properly inspected the actual display.

Is this seriously T-Mobile’s current replacement standard?

UPDATE: Clarification: This replacement was processed directly through T-Mobile’s warranty exchange process, not as an Assurant damage claim. T-Mobile created the order, shipped the device, handled the return, and issued the account credit. I had already returned this device and canceled the second replacement before posting.

Discussion Leaving tmo

Just switched to Verizon after tmobiles ridiculous price hikes. I even tried to talk to T-Mobile but after being on hold for 45 minutes I hung up. Their chat did not work either. Such a shame. They used to be great 7 years ago. Verizon cut my bill in literal half.

Rant Leaving after 20 years

After being a loyal 20+ year customer of T-Mobile, this forced retirement is too far for me. After having multiple conversations with various support folks, it is clear that brand loyalty doesn’t actually count for anything. I spend $350 a month for all of my lines and services, and the hike would bump me to $400. Comparable Verizon plans put me at $240 for the same thing.

It’s such a shame that there is no room for carve outs for folks who have a history of loyalty. It’s throwing the baby out with the bath water. I don’t feel like this would have happened with old leadership, but the only way to do anything in capitalism is speak with your wallet.

GLHF folks, but I don’t suggest you let them pillage you for the sake of “reflecting the current needs of mobile users” double talk.

Question Looking at upgrading my phone and the app says it would cost -$8.34/month. Is this an error?

As shown in the screenshot, it's saying -$8.34/month with $1000 due today. Is it some sort of error or is it actually a discount? If so is there a way to change it?

Question Stolen? Or sold....?

Is anyone aware of T-Mobile Databases being hacked?

So I got a T-Mobile card about 2 months ago since Verizon has no coverage in my house. T mobile used on my phone for data, Verizon for calls\text.

The T-Mobile number has never been used... Never texted anyone from it, never made any calls, never used to to sign up for anything, even the voice mail is not set up.

Sometime last week, I started getting robo calls on the T-Mobile number, about 5 times a day.

Right now I'm wondering if T-Mobile sold my data, or if it was hacked from their database. It's very concerning.

Question Tmobile New Samsung Phones lost their mind

Post image
0 Upvotes

Have they lost their minds? I have the Go5G Next plan and am trying to pick a new phone and they want to charge me how much for the new ones? Are they crazy? Time for me to search for a new carrier because this is absolutely ridiculous. Anyone knows if there is anything that can be done?

Discussion Finally heard back and got the job. Any tips?

Ive worked phone sales before at a cricket. my location went under so now i did ny interview here and seemed to go well.

Crickets training was basically completely on your own, had a dozen virtual assignments that took about an hour each, ended with 2 zoom calls, then just working the floor till you learned. From what i heard T-mobiles is 2 weeks of 8 hr zoom meetings.

Anyway, how is it working there, do you feel satisifed with your pay/coworkers? (Mine is 23 an hour for first 2 weeks, then 18 an hour +50% comm on account services like insurance)

Appreciation Just moved from Verizon - you were all very lucky for a long time

It feels insane to me that there are so many people complaining about T-Mobile after I’ve been shafted for 10 years from Verizon by them changing their plans every 2 years and making them more and more expensive. Sure you can’t get 6 lines for $100 per month anymore from a deal you got 10 years ago but that doesn’t seem like a reasonable expectation with what T-mobile is offering.

I was paying 240 per month for 3 lines+2 watches with Verizon since 2022. In 2024 I cancelled the watches and got a “loyalty discount “ that would need to be renewed every year by calling in. price went down to $194. They always gave me a good deal on a phone as long as they were paid off.

2 years ago Verizon service stopped working in my house and they wouldn’t fix it - fine as long as the wifi works.

My sister‘s phone died Friday and they would not be able to give me a promo on a new phone unless I upgraded that line to their “new plans” which would raise my price to $226 per month. I tried online, on the phone, and in the store. No one could get me a better deal.

The guy in the Verizon store said to go to the T-Mobile store across the street; he didn’t care anyways since they are selling their corporate stores and laying off the staff. he even printed my latest bill to bring over there.

Sister got an iPhone 17 Pro for free, and we are getting $2360 in rebates by moving to T-Mobile and my bill is going down to $160/month taxes and fees included.

So far the service is better than Verizon’s ever was. It feels like Verizon gave up in 2020.

Question Plan changed from T-Mobile ONE Business to something I have never heard of.

Does anyone know anything about this? It's called Business Unlimited Enhanced. My billing cycle was July 13th so I haven't seen any changes until today.

The rate went up from 240 for 6 lines to 267. Two lines on my ONE Business had ONE Plus addons.

I don't see any phone promotions either, which is odd and really disappointing since I haven't had a promotion in years. The plan doesn't even seem to know what it is, since some areas say 100GB hotspot, and others say 200GB.

Discussion Samsung new trade-in offers indicative of future offers for migrated plans?

The new Fold8/Flip8 offer is $1900 off for Beyond/Next and $1100 off for More/Go5g+/Better Value/More with Appreciation and $500 for everything else but Simple Choice. No mention of Experience Signature plans so I assume they all fall under $500 trade-in unless someone with a migrated plan see a different offer in T-Life.

I’ve seen a lot of posts about if people should take the migrated plan or switch to More with Appreciation.

With the trade-in deals above it seems like a good value to switch to More with Appreciation or even Better Value (if you have no discount or free lines).

$600 savings every 2 years on upgrades is $25/month for people who regularly upgrade (For people who keep their phones forever it can be profitable to upgrade if you do it right).

Many of these posts say More with Appreciation is either cheaper or the same price as their new migrated plan before factoring in taxes and fees difference. Even if taxes and fees is $10/line you’re still saving an extra $15/month in upgrade savings.

Math is a little more complicated for those with a lot of free lines since you don’t get upgrade deals on those lines anymore.

Discussion Apple Sales Coach/SEED

Has anyone been eligible for the free Apple device during fall launch without having all of the monthly ignite trainings done? I missed Nov and Oct (totally forgot) but I’ve been getting them done since then, and have every other training in the app done. Is there anything my boss or someone higher up needs to enroll me in either? Or is it solely through Apple as long as you’re in Sales Coach? Thank you!

Question T-Satellite 911 Signup is Saying My iPhone is Carrier Locked... It Isn't

I've used this iPhone SE 5G on AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile with no issue...

Currently I need it on Verizon, so I wanted to activate the $0 T-Satellite 911 eSIM.

The site is refusing, saying my iPhone is locked.

iPhone SE third gen is listed as supported. Anyone know what to do here?

Rant Feel that Im being cheated 1k

I go through phones fairly quickly bc I'm rough with them, clumsy, and they slide out of the pocket of my scrubs at work. Im probably on my 6th or 7th Samsung Flip this one being the "7" and in May it fell and cracked badly. I filed an insurance claim. Probably my 4th claim over the last 5 years. It was a mess getting the phone and had to buy some shitty Motorola as a temp. Eventually I got a message from the local tmobile store that one came in for me, and that same day, one came to my door at home too.

I bring the broke 7 phone, the new 7 with my shit Motorola to the local store.

The store was like a Freshman frat house with employees all touchy with thier partners which may have been employees too. I explained my situation and they got the young manager that was clearly high as hell, but helpful to transfer my data on a new flip 7. He gave me my Motorola and New phone and said I was all set. I asked if he was taking possession of the broke phone, and he said 'all good" and I forgot about it.

Until the 900 bill showed on my account. I called assurant and T-Mobile many times to hear them say the charge would fall off. It never did. Now tmobile says they are unable to help, the store says they dont remember me, and no phone is there.

I can't just return the phone I have either bc its been too long. I've been bitching to whoever would listen all day. Unfortunetly, I had to have my pup put down Sunday and pay his med bills so money is tight. Obviously mad at the world for losing my Lil guy already.

Outside of a pointless police report, is there any option? I cant even find anywhere to complain (except here lol)

Discussion I finally see my "new and improved plan"

We've been with Tmobile since the SIDEKICK (2002).

55+ with "price guarantee".

Plan went up 18bucks last year, and another 18bucks this year, plus we lost kickbacks, and now I see that the "free" international roaming is ABSOLUTE RUBBISH (5gb when it used to be unlimited).

Just opened the app, and see my new plan and the new "price guarantee", which is, of course, rubbish.

Leaving Tmobile.

PSA Beware of Alaska & International Usage

First, T-Mobile doesn't have towers in Alaska, so ALL usage there is considered "domestic roaming". There is a HARD 5GB per month cap on domestic roaming--mobile data apparently gets totally cut off once you hit that cap. There is absolutely NO WAY to purchase additional domestic roaming data. Your only option is to buy an eSIM from another carrier. It seems crazy that the service in Alaska (in the US) is so much worse than their intranational roaming (15-30GB, slows after that, you CAN buy high speed passes).

The issue with international roaming is that they get on you (potentially cancelling your account and forcing you to lose your phone number) if most of your usage in 2-3 consecutive months is international. Buying data passes doesn't seem to help.

If you're on an extended trip/vacation, you can easily get caught unexpectedly.

While it's understandable that the don't want people using massive data internationally, they enforced it strictly based on "over half your usage".

So, if you turn off your T-Mobile SIM and have a Starlink and a local eSIM that you use instead for nearly all of your data and calls--but once a month for 1 minute, you enable your T-Mobile SIM to get, say, a bank's verification code, you violate that provision because 100% of your data, SMS, and phone use was international for 3 consecutive months.

It doesn't matter that it was an Infinitesimally small amount, it was 100% of your usage and that's considered abusive.

So , if you're on an extended vacation/trip, you need to leave your T-Mobile SIM turned totally off the entire time -- or, buy a round trip plane ticket to the continental US so you can quickly make a bunch of calls, texts, and download a bunch of massive files to ensure "most" of your usage is in the US.

It's frustrating that they don't appear to have any provision for trivial usage. And, apparently the only way to get SMS/RCS messages is to enable your SIM (most places allow a Google Voice number for two factor or allow the Authenticator app, but a few places only accept a real cell number).

On a two month trip to Canada and Alaska, I ran into all of this.

Despite buying a Holafly eSIM and a Starlink. 🤬

Question Can i get the new Fold 8 phone with my wife's Tmobile account using trade in credits while she stays with her iphone on her line, but i use the Fold 8 on my Tello line?

My wife is on a old business magenta type line paying $40 a month on Tmobile. I'm on Tello, which is also tmobile mvno from what i understand.

Can i use her tmobile line to do get a trade in credit, but use this phone on my Tello, but she stays with her current iPhone on the Tmobile line? Or does she HAVE to use the fold 8 on her line?

I'm currently paying about $20/month on tello.

Rant shut down all tpr/3rd party stores i dont even care anymore

as a rep this has to be the most annoying thing in wireless. 3rd party stores arguably do way more damage to the company than help and the customer experience is probably worse than what the reps have to deal with. it’s wrong to judge every tpr off of the majority but man it just feels like every single one does some incredibly shady stuff. working at a corporate location surrounded by tprs is the worst because it’s always “we can’t port your number over, go to a corporate store” “we can’t return home internets, go to a corporate store” “we can’t return a phone we sold you, go to a corporate store” so on and so forth. they’re obvious lies that the general customer doesn’t know but every other tmobile rep does and it gets beyond frustrating. i know a lot of the tpr reps are pressured into these things by management but it still doesn’t make it right

Question Will I lose my BOGO free line if I move from Go5G Plus to Experience Beyond TI?

Talked to Care today, and they offered to move my 3 lines from Go5G Plus to Experience Beyond TI (C26BYDTI2). Unconventional, I know.

Apparently, though, I'd lose my BOGO promo (ID240374). I was expecting the $8 price bump on the GO line with Insidr, but not losing the full promo.

Any insights on whether the BOGO line discount will actually drop? Thanks!

edit to add: T-Force was my second stop and they also said it might drop, hence why I wanted to triple-check here before declining this offer.

edit 2: For anyone looking into this in the future, Care confirmed again that Experience Beyond TI does not work with BOGO ID240374, only TE. I didn't want to risk it, but in the end, they offered to switch me from Go5G Plus to Go5G Next. Problem solved for now. Thank you all for the help today, appreciate the community!

Rant About Done.....

I had a payment arrangement set up for today and August 5th due to when my next payday fell. The August 5th date was going to be paid next week. I just needed a few days. However, I noticed not one, but TWO drafts taken from my account (I received a text regarding both amounts). I did not authorize the second one. They took over $400 out of my account. I also noticed on my new bill, I was being charged for 3 watches (I only have one). I was also charged for mobile data on the two watches I don't own. I also had a line removed as that person obtained their own plan (my bill should have been lowered by about $60. It was my regular amount). I called customer care and was essentially told I was wrong about the two payments, and while one was authorize by the payment plan, the other was a manual payment through the app (I had not opened the app until I received those messages). My husband was furious when he found out, and wants to cancel service completely. I was told they could credit one of the charges, but it would take 5-10 days and I had about an hour to decide. I stated I needed to discuss this with my husband, but he wouldn't be off work for a few more hours. It was reiterated I had an hour otherwise the payment remains. I stated I will speak to my husband and call back. I have not called back as we are deciding on what to do, and if we do cancel, who we want service with. I keep seeing ads for Mint Mobile.
