Fantasy Football League

Anyone interested in joining a local fantasy football league? We have a league that's been running for a couple years and are looking to add some players after a few are out for this next season.

No experience required. We try to regularly meet up to watch the games together.

I can send league details to anyone that wants to know more.

What's the smoke like today? Coming up next week and wondering if we should cancel. Are people still able to enjoy beaches, patios etc.

Thanks 😊

camp spots

Hello, I am from Vancouver Island and have holidays coming up next week. The forecast here on the island is showing rain during a multi day kayak trip weve planned so we are pivoting last minute. Managed to finagle a couple of camp sites one at manning on saturday the 25, and one at Christina Lake Tuesday the 28. I am no stranger to concept that campsites are insanely busy in the summer and am not having much luck around the penticton osoyoos area for the nights of sunday/monday 26/27. Does anyone know any under the radar spots or spots that will likely have FCFS if we get there early enough? we have a small van but dont need hook ups. Im also looking into Kettle River FCFS site for the monday potentially, but open to ideas closer to osoyoos for the Sunday night the 26. TIA!

Trivium presale

I'm hoping someone can maybe help me out here...

Just seen Trivium announced a stop in Penticton, and we'd love to go.

Despite being a huge metal fan, I can't get down with the crowds, moshing, and standing all night etc. Lol. I much prefer the stands where I can sit and enjoy the show, away from the chaos 🤣.

However, when I go onto the website, they only have "general admission" available, and no options to choose seats etc. aside from all the extra VIP options which I don't need.

I've never actually seen a band with a tour announcement this soon, so I've never had the presale option, to check out tickets and such.

Does the general sales on Friday, open up the stand seating areas?

The promo code says this;

"Using a promo code will grant you access to an exclusive inventory of tickets."

Does that mean, it's for the people who really want the floor area, and vip stuff?

Lost phone in channel

Lost my pixel 9 pro in the channel on Friday. The device itself is now showing in summerland in my find hub. I'm hoping someone may be able to help track it down! It's marked as lost with my phone number posted but haven't had anyone reach out.

I can offer a cash reward.

Edit: it's been found!!

Intersection of Nanaimo and Ellis. The stop sign isnt that hard to see but people blow through it all the time. Guy doesn't even stop for people at the crosswalk. Terrible driver.

Some good local recommendations

So we are doing our yearly trip with my teenage daughter for hockey camp early August. This year I think most of her friends have opted out and looking for some suggestions from locals for some good hidden gems to eat at. Dog friendly would be nice but not a deal breaker!

And are there any fishing experts and fishing spots nearby? I have never caught a fish but always dreamed of sharing that moment with my daughter. Her classes run till 4pm daily is that too late? I know it probably takes hrs to make a catch … (I don’t know if this is even an ideal time)

Thank you in advance

JONESIE: We need to talk about MLA Amelia Boultbee

I’ve never seen one so willingly wade into the mudslinging of social media to find and vigorously return criticism from their constituents from their prime position, day or night.

I asked around town and found plenty of people willing to talk about being bullied by Amelia Boultbee, before or after she was elected. But almost without exception, all but the most ardent and public enemies refused to talk without anonymity.

New adventures

Hello!

I am from the Okanagan.

I realize that people's hidden spots in the Okanagan aren't something they want to share, but I am wondering if anyone wants to tell me some "hidden places" (e.g., swim holes or cliff jumping spots). Like Crawford Falls, Fintry Swim Hole, or Peach Cliff (been to). Its something I do with my dad in my free time, and I think we want some new adventures!

They can be harder to get to (that's what makes it fun) or easy!

Thanks!

Incident happened on the runway at YYF. Access closed to the road to airport - seems like the incoming Westjet flight from Calgary has been rerouted.

Beach etiquette

What is the proper etiquette for setting up a beach spot? Was at the beach with lots of space around me and this older couple and grown kids decided to set up with there chairs almost touching me and then proceeded to talk loudly about surgeries and stuff that I didn’t need to listen to as I was trying to have a nice relaxing time with a book

Does anyone have old photos or old footage of the waterslides that shut down in the 2000's?

I can't quite remember what it was called, I think it was 'Wonderful Water World' ? but I can't recall for certain.

When I was a kid I used to visit family in Penticton during the summer, my great Aunt used to buy all of us kids seasons passes and we would go multiple times a week. She passed away in 2001 so we stopped visiting after that and I heard it shut down in like 2004 or something and was turned into apartments, which is a shame.

I've been to many other waterparks in my life since and they had many cool things that the Penticton slides didn't, but ive still never seen water slides like the green ones since. I believe there were 7 green slides in total. they were quite long and loopy, i remember beautiful green bushes and vines which really gave then an adventurous feel when you slid under them. most water parks are just concrete slabs with no vegetation. The slides had exciting drop offs and tunnels and I in my childhood I would slide down them literally all day from morning to night and never got bored. Since they shut down before the digital age I'd suspect there wouldnt be any good footage of them. These days you can find youtube videos with first person views of people sliding down waterslides.

Anyways, the last week i've tried searching the internet for anything that covered that specific waterpark, news papers or old websites or anything and yet the ONLY image ive been able to find was this grainy sky image of the park, possibly after it was shut down since it does not look maintained. Here

I would LOVE if there was anyone still in penticton who would have information or any kind of old media of this specific water park, thank you!

Wine Tasting Van Rental

Hey everyone, heading up to pentiction next week as I’ve been doing with my family for the past 25 years. Wanted to try something different and rent a van + driver to go wine tasting. Not looking to do the whole all included tour just the car and driver so we can pick and choose which places we wanna go. Are there any companies that provide this?

Thank you!
