Boat Slip - Long Term Lease
Currently in the process of home shopping in Osoyoos and need help figuring out if it’s even possible to secure a long term lease on a boat slip.
We have been back & forth about whether to buy somewhere that includes a slip but maybe not all the lifestyle amenities we would want vs somewhere with those amenities but no boat slip.
Any hot tips?

Mosquitoes
Hi again! We will be there on Friday, are the mosquitoes bad? In Saskatchewan they are absolutely horrendous! I have never seen them this bad and I have lived here for 6 decades :)

Spirit ridge Cantina
Heading to osoyoos next week and haven't been for a few years. I read there is a bar down on the beach called the cantina. If it's on the beach how do you get down there in the evening, we are staying at the resort. There is a shuttle to the beach during the day i think but do they run in the evenings?

Getting there without a car
I’m looking to get from Hope to Osoyoos (well, Vaseaux Lake, actually) in mid-August but don’t have a car. Has anyone made the trip from Hope or the valley somewhere up to Osoyoos area without a car? How did you do it? The Internet keeps telling me I have to get to Vancouver and spend 15 hours bussing up. There has to be a better way, right?
TIA everyone

Osoyoos weather this weekend
Hi,
I am planning a trip to osoyoos this weekend, it was a pre planned trip. However the weather seems pretty much different as expected. Can anyone please suggest is it worth it or not to travel (from Vancouver)?

Osoyoos
Hi, I’m looking to go to osoyoos in about two weeks, was looking at hotels and they just seem to expensive, is there a decent hotel you recommend ? Or is it better to find a campsite and car camp?

Coming for a visit, warned about ticks?
Hey everyone! I'm coming June 1 to June 5 to check out the area! I'll be doing lots of hiking, horseback riding, camping etc. just lots of outdoorsy stuff. I was told by someone who is outdoors a lot but never been to Osoyoos, that there's lots of ticks in Osoyoos... So I wanted to ask the locals instead of relying on people who have never even been.
Is it really bad out there? Thanks so much!

Watermark vs Walnut Beach in August
We’re looking at Osoyoos for a family trip in August (I know it’s peak season, so I’m trying to keep my expectations realistic 😅). We like lake days, heated pools, evening walks, and maybe a winery or two, hikes Looking at Watermark and Walnut Beach.
For those who’ve stayed at either, which did you prefer? Like more relaxing, less crowded 😊🍷🏖️

Asking locals - considering purchasing a home on 12th avenue -
Wondering if the border gets so backed up in the summer that I won’t be able to get down to turn onto the road without getting caught in the border line up?

Best coffee shops/roasters?
Headed to Osoyoos and Kelowna in the next couple of weeks for vacation. Hoping to get some recommendations for the best local coffee shops that roast their own beans? My dad is a huge espresso fanatic so I'm hoping to take home a few bags for him to try.
Anarchy and Craft 42 in Kelowna are already on my list.
TIA!

Best birding spots
Hey all, coming from Vancouver for the weekend and staying just outside of Osoyoos. We are looking to do lots of birding. We love spots where we can hike and see/photograph cool birds, specifically raptors. Anyone got any good spots to recommend? TIA!

Looking to speak with female elders/ long-term residents of Oliver for a documentary short film
Hi everyone!
My name is Cheryl Shiu. I’m a third-year film student at SFU currently developing my thesis short film for next year.
The project is called Oliver’s Girl, and I’m beginning to connect with people in the Oliver / South Okanagan area as part of the early research process.
I’m hoping to meet women who have a deep connection to Oliver, especially someone who has lived there for many years and has stories about the land, community, family history, or everyday life in the town. I’m particularly interested in speaking with older women and long-time residents.
The film won’t be a traditional interview-style documentary. It will be a process-based hybrid documentary, meaning the story will grow out of time spent together: conversations, memories, and everyday moments. Some scenes may also involve creative or staged moments we come up with together, inspired by real life. I’m interested in capturing something intimate, real, and authentic about womanhood in Oliver through collaboration and relationship.
Right now I’m simply looking to connect, listen, and learn about people’s stories. If you or someone you know might enjoy being part of a creative and collaborative film project, I would love to hear from you.
Especially interested in:
• women who have lived in Oliver for a long time
• elders or grandmothers with stories about the town
• family or community histories connected to the area
• Indigenous women or families with connections to the land and community
If this sounds like you (or someone you know), please feel free to message me. Even pointing me toward someone I should talk to would mean a lot.
Thank you for welcoming a curious filmmaker into the conversation :)

Need a car and driver
We will be in Osoyoos in late June and plan on doing a wine/cider tour on our own (with our own non-drinking driver), but none of our vehicles are large enough for all of our family and we’d need at least 2 of our cars (and therefore 2 non-drinking drivers in our group).
I was hoping to rent a van but it doesn’t look like there are any car rental agencies in Osoyoos.
I know we can book a tour company for a wine/cider tour but it’s not my first choice. Are there any taxis vans that can be booked by the hour (expecting 4 to 6 hours)?
