$21,000 for 20x40 Shop Concrete. Outrageous or on par?

I was just quoted $21000 for form, rebar, place and pour on an 800 sq ft detached shop Seemed kind of high? That doesn't include any dirtwork or site prep. Just concrete.

Looking for people who have built a shop recently to compare.

New Adventures

Hello!

I am from the Okanagan.

I realize that people's hidden spots in the Okanagan aren't something they want to share, but I am wondering if anyone wants to tell me some "hidden places" (e.g., swim holes or cliff jumping spots). Like Crawford Falls, Fintry Swim Hole, or Peach Cliff (been to). Its something I do with my dad in my free time, and I think we want some new adventures!

They can be harder to get to (that's what makes it fun) or easy!

Thanks!

Romantic winery with decent food?

We're going to be staying in OK Falls for a weekend in mid August. It's also my anniversary and I'm looking for somewhere to wow the wifey. Not really looking for a drive to Kelowna or Osoyoos, but I'm willing to drive if it's good. A winery with a good food program, maybe a view but I'm up for anything.

Watcha got Okanagan!

What kind of question should I ask different orchards for a cherry picking job so I sound like I know what im talking about?

is it safe to assume its all piecework? paid per bucket?

I'm sure some orchards are better than others.

looking for guidance on a trip to BC. family with girls of 12&14 years of age planning a trip to experience BC. YVR will be the start and end point. our plan was drive direct Penticton stay for 2-3 days to explore beaches in that area and day trip to Osoyoos for a day of beach there. then move to Vernon for 2-3 days hiking and beach etc. drive to Whistler for 1-2 nights and explore the area and then 2-3 nights in Vancouver before leaving. not sure how warm/cold the water would be toward the end of august which is why we were thinking about staying south. previously visited vancouver island and found it to be beautiful but now looking for warmish water swimming. any tips suggestions would be appreciated.

Our only plans so far are to visit the Caravan Farm Theatre and Cardiff Miller Art Warehouse, while also exploring nature, easy hiking trails. We’re travelling with our three year old, so looking for some family friendly /camping options!

thank-you!

Which museums are best?

I'm driving tomorrow from Crescent Valley to Eastgate, and I'd like to stop at some museums along the way. The ones that came up in my research where the Doukhkbor Discovery Centre, the Alpine Taxidermy Museum, the Boundary Museum, the Greenwood Museum and the Kettle River Museum. However, if I started at Doukhobor at 9AM when they open and hit every museum on the way, I wouldn't make it to Kettle River before they closed at 4PM (I have an electric car and need to stop to charge a few times).

For those who have gone to those museums, which ones are worth visiting and which are skippable? I imagine this won't be the last time I'll be in this area, so I can hit up the ones I skip later.

We're hosting an informal 25km trail run this Saturday from Okanagan Mountain Park to Commando Bay. Not a race, no fees.

Sweat Culture is organizing an informal trail run this Saturday May 23rd meeting at 6AM and starting at 6:30.

The route is 25km through Okanagan Mountain Park to Commando Bay and back. No organized support, self-supported the whole way. Run it, hike it, or mix both (no pace requirement).

Come prepared with hydration, calories, bear spray, GPS, first aid, proper trail gear. Wildlife and rough terrain are real considerations on this route.

Goal is to finish together and swim the bay. Bring a camp stove and food for after. If there's interest we might even make it a recurring thing.

Let us know if you're coming so people know to look for you.
