This is a place for asking simple questions that might not deserve their own thread. For example, if you have a question about a rules interaction, want sleeve and accessory recommendations, or suggestions for your new deck, then this is the place for you.
We encourage that you post any questions that you may have concerning Magic the Gathering here rather than make a separate thread for each question, though for now we won't require that you do so.
Rules Questions
Rules questions and interactions are allowed to be posted here, but if you need an answer quickly it may be best to use a dedicated resource like the 24/7 Magic the Gathering Rules Chat.
Deckbuilding Questions
If you're trying to get help with a deck, it is recommended that you post your decklist to a deckbuilding website so that it is easier to view. Some popular sites are Aetherhub, Archidekt, Deckbox, Deckstats, Moxfield, MTGGoldfish, and TappedOut.
Additionally, please include some description of what you are trying to accomplish. Don't just give us a decklist with no explanation, and don't ask extremely vague questions such as "what cards should I add to my deck to make it better?", because it's hard to give good advice in those cases. Let us know details, the more the better. Are you building with a particular strategy or theme in mind? Are there any non-obvious combo lines or synergies that people should be aware of? Are you struggling with a particular matchup, or are you finding yourself missing consistency in an important area, and need some help specifically for it? Let us know.
Commonly Asked Questions
I opened a card from a different set in my booster pack, is this unusual?
Don't worry, this is completely normal. If you opened a set booster, you have a small chance of obtaining a bonus card from a previous set. This is an extra card that does not replace any of the other cards in your pack, and is from a curated set of past hits that Wizards of the Coast has selected, which they call "The List".
You can view the contents of The List on Wizards of the Coast's official website. For example, the contents of The List for Streets of New Capenna boosters can be found here.
My foil card has a shooting start symbol over the bottom left. I can't find anything about it online.
All old-bordered foils have the shooting star symbol. Most sites that display card images just overlay a generic foil graphic over all foil cards, which doesn't include the shooting star. Your card is normal.

Currently on the TCGPlayer yt channel, Frank Karsten (Pro Tour hall of fame and phd in game theory and probability theory) is doing a series on the mathematics of mtg. He goes very in depth with some interesting concepts that I have found to be very helpful for my deckbuilding and gameplay strategy. I thought I knew a lot, having learned about the hypergeometric distribution and reading his article on how many sources of each color to play, but I've learned a lot more through this series. Haven't seen many people talking about this, so I highly recommend checking it out. I've linked my favorite one so far, which talks about how many copies of a card you should run.

Before I invent this for my family, just checking to see if there are already any awesome community resources.
Has anyone developed a game using Magic and magic mechanics where it turns into a kind of deck building dungeon crawl?
The basic premise is to start with a hero and access to your "homelands" as mana sources, along with a few spells. Through playing an rpg style campaign you'd gather lands/mana sources, treasure (artifacts), allies/summons, boons (enchantments) and spells...building up a deck in the process and facing off against "encounters" with packs of enemies, villains with their own mini decks...stuff like that.
I know games like this already exist, but I'd love to use it as a less competitive way to teach kids Magic basics along with the idea of TTRPGs. Maybe I'm crazy.
Anyone know of anything like this out there already, beyond Horde magic style situations?

One of my closest friends is leaving the country pernanently (moving) in about a month and I want to make them a Boros EDH deck.
Sounds good, right?
Wrong.
Outside of Gruul, this is my least played colour combination (yes, I'm not the biggest fan of combat) and I'm very firmly in the "a deck nust include Black for me to have fun" camp. So, I turn to Reddit! Would anyone happen to have an [[Arabella Abandoned Doll]] deck which is also Goblin typal?
Goblins and their favourite fantasy creature, the little buggers.
Any bracket is fine - I'll probably tweak it regardless to add my touch to the gift - but we mostly play at a 3 in our pod, so around there is probably the best range to land at.

I recently got into magic a few years ago, but I feel like there is a lot of lore that I am missing. Are there any great YouTube or podcasts that sum up the lore in an enjoyable way?

basically what is the best deck you can build using only secret lair cards. id say use the legacy banned list to remove the really broken stuff like sol ring and mana vault. im not sure what the best thing is but its interesting to consider

with Hasbro's CEO saying that next year's UB sets will be more fantasy adjacent, it got me thinking about what properties would be cool to see, and Elden Ring was one of the first I thought of. Went down a rabbit hole of figuring out the color identities of all the Elden Ring Bosses
Godrick the Grafted (Black, maybe Dimir?)
the whole grafting thing is very zombie-coded
Morgott, the Omen King (White)
despite being a villain, he's probably the one who stuck to "order" the most
Fire Giant (Gruul)
Gruul being the "anti-civilization" color and the fire giant being a remnant of an older age
Godskin Apostle + Godskin Noble (Black)
not much to say here
Starscourge Radahn (Boros)
he kind of exemplifies the whole "Martial honor" thing. not to mention his gravity magic, which in practice looks similar to Nahiri's lithomancy.
Malenia, Blade of Miquella (Golgari)
could be an argument here for white or red as well, but the rot is very golgari-coded.
Miquella (Esper)
he's a schemer.
Mohg, Lord of Blood (Mardu)
blood magic is very rakdos, but he's also got a white element to his character with how loyal he is to miquella
Radagon (WUBR)
kind of feels like they could be every color except green, being unnatural
Elden Beast (WUBRG)
more natural than radagon.
Maliketh, the Black Blade (Orzhov)
wields death magic, but is loyal to his sworn duty
Godfrey (White)
not too sure on this one. could be black or red too.
Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy (Rakdos)
pretty easy here. rakdos is the blasphemy color
Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon (Blue)
moon + magic: blue
Astel, Naturalborn of the Void (colorless)
kind of eldrazi-coded
Bayle the Dread (Jund)
he's got the same vibe as the jund dragons we already have in magic
Divine Beast Dancing Lion (Temur)
being an ancestral practice (and the elemental magic) makes the lion fit into temur pretty well.
Dragonlord Placidusax (WUBRG)
similar to the Elden Beast.
Lichdragon Fortissax (Mardu)
this one is tough. lightning magic is very red, and he's also dead, so rakdos for sure. but he's loyal as well, so mardu?
Messmer the Impaler (????)
honestly not sure on this one
Matyr, Mother of Fingers (Blue)
could be an argument for colorless here
Putrescent Knight (Black)
zombie knight
Radahn, Consort of Miquella (Boros)
radhan is very boros-coded.
Regal Ancestor Spirit (Green)
probably the most green of all the bosses, but could also be temur or simic.
Rellana, Twin Moon Knight (Azorius)
Gives a very Azorius warrior vibe. martial skill + magic
Romina, Saint of the Bud (Sultai)
scarlet rot = golgari, but not sure what the tertiary color would be
Scadutree Avatar (Abzan)
this one feels easy. erdtree avatars are very selesnya, and this one is guarding the scadutree, hence the black mana
what do you guys think? to me, Elden Ring feels like a pretty seamless IP to incorporate into magic

Hello, I've recently bought the "Their magic is limitless" non foil variant, however im not sure if my order will make it.
I saw there was no backorder mentioned on the non foil variant, but my issue is that im temporarily living in germany untill September 25th, and im unsure of how long it takes for an order to be delivered, and i fear it may not make it in time.
Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated, please let me know if i should wait or should i cancel my order.

I started playing Magic in 1998 and it was a big part of my life for well the majority of it at this point. I remember I signed up for the guru program when I was like 10 just because I wanted the free starter kit so I could have more cards than the two precons I'd managed to afford. They never showed up, but I got 5 basic lands randomly a year afterwards, hooray stupid lands.
Anyway I want to get rid of the last of my collection, its a bunch of stuff I forgot I had stored after I sold off my main collection back in 2018-19, it was bulk, but since I got out these scanner apps have popped up, so I scanned through four or five boxes, enough to give me a head ache and a sore neck. I wasnt expecting much value but .. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kK0dKjirJUIq4ChalqXbShYl2TU7BgEW/view?usp=drivesdk
I'm out of touch with the community the LGS I used to haunt closed shop, my younger family and friends kids arent the type, I can't just throw them away because they're Magic cards and their importance is still some kind of core part of me apparently regardless of how I feel about the game these days. Plus I'm - not rich, a human and not zealously charitable. I also want them to go somewhere they'll be exciting or cool or whatever to someone again. I could just sell off the stuff I put in binder based on the info from the app, but that's only like 600 some cards out of maybe 2500 that I looked through and there's well over 10k total.
Are there any groups that go for big collections or should I try to find like a convention to take them to? What would you do in my shoes?
Oh and the Guru lands aren't in this, my mother burned my first collection..

Deck List: https://moxfield.com/decks/xM9NwaDh8km1E-KJnznGdA
Hello, I apologize for the long hiatus, but I have some really cool Historic decks to share! The combo of Squirrel Girl, Shang-Chi and Enduring Vitality got a lot of buzz in preview season, but it has not seen any success in Historic. This is mostly because it is a tough to assemble three card combo. Mono green is also just not a great color in Historic, if you are not playing devotion. Playing this combo means you do not get to play the card advantage engine of [[Kiora, Behemoth Beckoner]] and [[Outcast, Trailblaser]] that allows mono green devotion to grind out the midrange/control matchup. While the combo being instant speed (if you get all three in play) and enduring innocence's recursion, does make the combo suprisingly resilient, it still struggles into decks like Jund or Dimir Midrange.
With that said, I think I cracked it with another Marvel card that I have not seen many people talk about. That card is [[Earth's Mightiest Heroes]]. This card has a lot of text, but you can effectively think of it as Teamwork 5 you win the game. Being able to put all creatures from the top 8 cards of your library, in combination with Green Suns Zenith, makes assembling the combo very easy and very consistent.
Some other notes on the deck.
Enduring innocence, Badgermole cub and leyline of abundance provides you more mana than you will ever know what to do with. It is not very hard to dump your entire deck on turn 3.
Chittering Illuminator is secretly the best card in the deck. It provides you so much card advantage on your combo turns. Prismatic Vista and Nurtering Peatland and Disciple of Freyalise in your mana base allows you to reset the top of your deck if you brick.
Beast Whisperer is weird as [[glimpse of nature]] is legal in the format. I would probobly trim it down to 1 but I found it to better then glimpse. You want to play glimpse before deploying all of your mana dorks and this deck wants to play beast whisperer during your combo turn.
I would play 4 birds of paradise over 4 delighted halfling. Giving squirrel girl encounterable is relevant but not having an extra green pip for chittering illuminator came up more.
This sideboard sucks and I have really struggled with it. I would completely rework it if you wanted to try this deck.

What’s the most fun Rule Zeroes your commander pods use? Small or big changes. I wanna see how different people play.

Looking for something symbolic. He was a big big fan of Bolas, but all of the Bolas cards he liked are very expensive(out of my range right now.) We've been playing magic together for the better part of 10 years. I miss him dearly. Magic was his life. I was hoping to find something reminiscent of eternal friendship. I appreciate any help.

Hi there! It's been more than a decade since I last played MTG (almost two decades actually). I'm coming back and bringing my GF with me :)
I saw there was a "magic school-themed" set a few years ago, Strixhaven. I feel like that would be a great place to introduce the game to her, considering the vibe and themes.
Can someone please share some deck lists from that era? Goals:
Also, what do people use to share deck lists nowadays? Moxfield?
Last but not least, do you have any suggestions for places to buy cards? They must ship to Brazil.
Thanks in advance!
(edit: wow I simply can't format this bullet list)

I’m pretty new to magic and one of my friends just built a deck using Ygra. From what I understand it turns every creature including my own creatures into food artifacts. Does this mean that when my creatures die and go to the graveyard that his Ygra gets buffed with 2 +1/+1?
