Finished this build today, I absolutely love the deep and muted sound profile of the Y2's. They are incredibly well factory lubed. I also adore the OSA profile from Keychron, it is a nice blend of SA and OEM that just works with my hands.

seeing a lot of newer people worrying that they need a $300–400 board to enjoy the hobby.

I spent an hour tape modding and lubing a cheap plastic board today and it ended up sounding way better than expected.

expensive boards are nice, but you really dont need one to have fun with the boards. sometimes messing around with a cheap board is the best part.

Swapped out the original case and keycaps for a new look. Cost around ~$60 for the keyboard, case, and keycaps. Lubed the stock switches and they sound amazing.

I’m looking for some ideas for keycaps to give the WASD keys some contrast to the rest of the board. They are XDA profile. I was thinking about black with red or white lettering or even wood and maybe a wood spacebar to match.

My biggest problem is being able find XDA profile and matching font. I feel like it would look weird if they were in a different font. I have also considered blank keycaps.

Any ideas on what would make a good contrast?

Looking to buy my first mechanical keyboard, price would have to be under 60€ as im quite broke (bummer).

Must-have: a QWERTZ Layout, 75%-85% (preferably 75%), clean look.

Nice to have: A volume knob, Creamy sound, Backlighting

I looked around and found this AJAZZ AK820 which i really like the look of but i looked it up on this subreddit and there were a lot of people who were having issues with the software or the booard itself.

So i would appreciate if some you have any suggestions.

i just got this keyboard but i cant seem to change the LED lights because its greyed out and i just cant seem to make it work. the LCD screen software doesnt change as well.

edit: when i go to qmk.top it says no HID device found

Still need some RGB to feel like a proper gaming setup. Finally got the Melgeek real81 on my desk. Starting to realize I like this kind of layout way more than 60/65%.

Feels like professional esports players don't use this layout anymore. Also, I think I still prefer this kind of layout. 60/65% boards are super clean and yeah, they leave you a lot of mouse space, but I always end up missing the function row or a few nav keys.

This 81-key layout feels like a better balance for me. Still compact, still good for gaming, but not too stripped down. Basically compact, but not annoying.

I was hoping someone could find a 1800 compact

quiet,

3-mode connection,

2 angles of tilt,

Volume/media knob,

But really anything close to this that won't break the bank would be great

I heard that it's quite good from hipyos Tech's review, but I also heard that the keyboard was altered without being announced, and that the quality dropped. What do you guys think about this keyboard?

I want a spare full size kb and I'm considering this one because it's affordable ~$40-50 and has Hot-swappable socket and sounds good.

Hi, Im looking for a mechanical keyboard which is under £75. Key features that i would like:

• Hotswapable
• QWERTY Layout (UK)
• 100% or 80% or 75% (preferably 80%)
• Backlight (RGB if possible but solid color is fine)
• Black/Dark color
• Wired option
• Clicky but not like SUPER loud
• NOT LOW PROFILE

Used for gaming and coding. Mainly esports games (valorant, CSGO, eg.) and minecraft

i kept lowering mine, but once I got down near the minimum it just felt twitchy. I ended up back around 0.15mm rt with roughly 1.0mm actuation. still fast, but I'm not getting random movement from barely touching the key.

curious where everyone else ended up after testing it properly. do most of you raise it again?

The ones that i know are Ajazz or Aula (Epomaker). I know there are other for sure, but the names are giving me a hard time ngl.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello to all the good people out there ! I’m stuck between buying a Neo 65 sonic that cost 150 usd after shipping or buying AE64 pro pcb and a fake holy case and owl lab ti switch from Tao bao for around 100 usd. Sound are more important for me than performance but I do plan to get a better case in the future if I’m going for a AE64 route.

Does anybody know if there are either MOA or MDA profile keycaps in a german layout? I desperately searched the whole web and only found a single one with bad reviews on amazon.

So im mainly looking for something sorta cream or thocky to put it not super loud but not dead silent. and i also want it to be either 100% or TKL/80% idm the numberpad but id prefer it to not be there and my budget is £1-30 or 40 and be black maybe with of a bit of other colour or just a whole other colour but idm and i also dont care if its wired or wireless and thats all bye :)

I was wanting to buy a Hall effect keyboard mostly to play geometry dash, but I might play other fps games in the future which is why I don’t want the sayodevice. The epomaker g84 he has caught my eye since it supports 8k polling wirelessly, and seems to be a great budget option.

What are your reviews for it? Is it a good purchase to make?

Came up with this and it would be my dream, but I just wanna see if someone's made something like this before diving down the custom route.

I'm looking for a keyboard that's basically an Evo75 in a 60% layout (maybe 65% for the right board).

My wishlist:

• Hot-swappable 60% ANSI layout
• Aluminum or solid plastic case
• Reliable Tap-Hold support over both USB and wireless (Home Row Mods, Mod-Tap, Layer-Tap, Caps as Layer, etc.)
• Dual-/Tri-mode, VIA/VIAL compatible PCB
• Good battery life
• A creamy, satisfying sound signature out of the box, ideally without needing heavy modding

Nice to have

• Prebuilt or all-inclusive kit
• Per-key RGB configurable through VIA/VIAL
• Within €200 / $225 (I'd stretch the budget a little for the right board, but not into the $300+ range)

I've looked at some options and they're close, but not quite there.

• Neo60 Core has a wireless PCB without per key RGBA, but its firmware limited in wireless mode, which makes me hesitant since I need Home Row Mods and other Tap-Hold features.
• Tofu60 Redux V2 is another great option, but as far as I know, it doesn't offer a wireless PCB. It also seems like I'd need to do more work to get that smooth, creamy sound I'm after.
• LUMINKEY 60PRO is good option, but with their proprietary software it's pretty unusable.

If you know of any boards that fit this pretty closely, or even just capture most of what I'm after, I'd really appreciate the suggestions.

My hall effect board is sadly dead I spilled a drink over it and it doesn't work anymore. I'm back on my good old Fnatic Streak 65 and I rly like the low profile keys. It feels like on this one my movement ingame is more consistent but less quick than on the HE board. HE boards are still a big advantage in my opinion as you can stop faster etc so I thought about buying one of these:

Hey all! Looking for some silent linear switch recommendations for my daily driver.

I'm pretty new to mechanical keyboards and still trying to figure things out, but I've been using Cherry MX Silent Reds and they're just not doing it for me:
- They feel a bit too soft—I keep accidentally pressing keys just by resting my fingers.
- To avoid misclicks, I end up bottoming out hard, and I really don't like that mushy/dull "thud" feel and sound.
- I want something with a bit more resistance and a cleaner, firmer keypress with a definite bottom-out.

I plan to use this keyboard in an office setting, so super quiet operation is a must. Mainly looking for something office-friendly, with a nice bottom-out feel and slightly firmer than MX Silent Reds. RGB and gaming specs don't matter to me.

Budget: Open / Flexible (No budget limit)

Since I'm still new to this, I'd love to hear what options are out there!
