Haul Newest pickups

Physical over Digital EVERYTIME

Wolfenstein $25 ( have both the first 2 Xbox One games so nice to be only one game away from completing the set)

.

Ghost Recon $10 ( Cause cheap and breaks the monotonous COD cycle I find myself in)

.

Dying Light $20 ( First game and all DLC plus the expansion)

Horizon 2 $40 ( Have 360 copy already but heard its buggy and incomplete)

.

Horizon 5 $59 ( Now own all Horizons playable on One X)

.

Black Ops 6 $9 ( Brand New JB Hifi online clearance) Purchased purely to sell once I beat Campain on Veteran as I have the PS4/5 Cross Gen steel book already.

Not a price evaluation, just listing them and the reason of what drove me to purchase said games

Help Are these games CIB?

Hello, I’ll probably be asking this same question for a lot of my collection in the coming days so just a heads up. I like all my games to be CIB but as an Xbox collector it’s hard to tell officially what’s CIB or not, is there a website that specifically tells me what game with a certain version of a game when it was new? Thanks!

Discussion What are some good game stores online?

Upvotes

What gamestore do you prefer and why so? I dont really live close to any gamestores, im young-ish and i have the urge to game more and collect. The thing is im not sure where to get games theses days. my father used to find classic games in the most random of places but now its impossible to do so at those spots as they have become "modern".

So i ask here what gamestores (preferably online) do you prefer? please explain aswell if possible. Bonus if they have deals alot of the time.

Graded How do you guys view WATA 9.0 games long term?

Post image
Upvotes

I came across this WATA Certified 9.0 sealed Black Ops II (206 part code/Nuketown variant) at my local game store. I’m a Call of Duty collector and was curious how other collectors view 9.0 grades compared to 9.4, 9.6, and 9.8.

Do you think 9.0s still have solid long-term collectible appeal, or do most collectors eventually hold out for higher grades?

I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on collecting lower-graded sealed games versus waiting for higher-grade examples.

Haul “Metroid N64 Console”

So I was hunting around for some 4 for $40 deals and went to a GameStop that I do not frequently visit. Found some games I didn’t have and/or needed. Nothing special.

As I normally do, asked if they had any retro stuff that was not on display or was in the drawers. Mentioned N64, SNES, NES as some examples of stuff I was interested in. They showed me some uninteresting N64 games that I passed on. The guy then says, “Well would you be interested in a Metroid N64 console?”

Knowing damn well that such a thing didn’t exist, I was intrigued and said yes…

Dude brings out a BOXED Platinum Metroid Bonus Bundle GameCube. I asked to see what was in it and he opened it up. There were no inserts. I also asked if they happened to have the game separately for sale, but they did not. But he then proceeded to open the disc drive up and say, “It does comes with the boot up disc you need to use the console ” 😲 😬

Couldn’t pass up an insane find like this and grabbed it. Unbelievable!

The console and controller work and will need some cleaning and the box definitely has wear. I also didn’t notice until after getting home that they actually provided a PS2 component cable, not a Nintendo cable. I’ll live. LOL

I went to gamestop for fun after my friend canceled on me, this guy was trading in this stuff to gamestop, and was scanning the last few things in, i asked him how much we was getting and he said 600, after i saw on the screen, i realized it was 600 in credit, and when i told him he asked how much it was cash, they told him 350. I immediately told him ill pay you what they were willing to give in credit for it, he agreed, after he said he would throw in pokemon Gold, and the target GBA for an extra 100, so i payed him 700. I think i did pretty well, and now my collection is like alot bigger than before. Already modded the DSI too 😋 i hope i did as good as i think i did

Collection Kirby’s Dream Land 3 and very rare Bandai plush set!

I’ve been going down a bit of a Kirby’s Dream Land 3 rabbit hole for a video I’m working on, and it led me to these wonderful (and extremely rare) Bandai plush set! Released in 1998, these Japanese-exclusive plushies came packaged with Ramune candy and retailed for 200 yen. They are also extremely cute. I am a huge Rick fan and this is my favorite Rick plush that’s ever been made.

The American marketing campaign for Kirby 3 was basically nonexistent. Outside of a couple of mentions towards the back of some Nintendo Power magazines, it was largely neglected. It was one the last SNES games published, releasing over a year after the N64 had launched, which explains why it wasn’t allocated a huge budget. However, the total lack of ANY promotional material (including but not limited to: commercials, store displays, print advertisements, merchandise) is extremely unusual for a premiere Nintendo IP of this quality. But more on that in my upcoming video.

No doubt due to its lack of promotion and unfortunate release date, Kirby 3 sold very badly. Now, it is one of the most expensive SNES games, and quite difficult to find in solid condition. This copy is complete and in excellent shape with the original cellophane still on it, showcasing its retail price of $45 in 1997. $93 adjusting for inflation! I have complicated thoughts on the game itself, but I do enjoy it quite a bit more than Dreamland 2. I really like the stylized colored pencil graphics. Muted pastels were underutilized in games at the time, and I think it achieves a very unique vibe that few other platformers were able to.

Help Video game Standees database

I’ve been looking for a few video game standees and can only find a handful selling for thousands of dollars on eBay. I figured if I’m going to invest that much why not just try creating some reproductions. Does anyone know of a company that works on standee reproductions? Or a database that houses information on old GameStop/ Walmart/ toysrus promos? I think it would be a fun project to try and figure out if something like that doesn’t exist.

Collection My Collection: Zelda, 007, Metal Gear, Metroid, SNES + More

I've finally organized my collection to a point where I wanted to share it.

While I do play a variety of titles, I wanted to focus collecting my favorite franchises, those being Zelda, Metal Gear, Metroid, and 007. On top of collecting these franchises, I wanted to focus on 1 specific console, so I chose the SNES. This was my 1st console growing up, so it has a special place in my heart.

For the most part I aim to collect CIB versions, except for the SNES collection. There, I focus on getting cartridges for the most part. Outside of a few more I'm looking to get, along with a few boxes/manuals for some loose 007 cartridges and the BOTW amiibo (the only Zelda amiibo I'm missing), I'm at a point now where collecting missing titles for these franchises is getting both difficult and costly, purely due to them being rare and/or in-demand (Zelda being the biggest offender in this case). Still, I'm very satisfied with where my collection is as of now, and with the shelves that I have here which came as-is in my house, I don't have much room left without expanding further anyway. For the most part I see myself slowing down just a bit, focusing less on the eBay's and Mercari's of the world, and aiming to go to the occasional retro gaming con and vintage shop. Among my missing grails, I'm aiming to add a CIB A Link to the Past (my favorite game ever), and MSX copies of Metal Gear 1 and 2. Also, I know that Funkos, artwork, and vinyl records aren't exactly "game collecting", but by virtue of them being tied to gaming franchises, I felt it was cool to share them.

Happy to answer any and all questions! (Also, if images are blurry, it's reddit, i took all but 1 photo here with a fancy mirrorless camera, had issues with mobile so this post is from a PC).

Special shoutouts to Gameye for their tracking app and accepting 25+ of my submissions, and Dan @ RetroProtection for answering all my questions and providing the protective cases I use for my games.
