ALL requests regarding game value or authentication go in here. Just leave a top level comment with pictures/info of what it is. If you make a post regarding these topics, the post will be removed and possibly get a 1-7 day ban.
If you see posts on these topics PLEASE report it. It helps immensely. We will be updating automoderator to help alleviate some of that burden from us and you onto it.

If you are asking to price something normal. Like the normal release of a game, or a special edition, normal consoles, or some special editions. You can find a decent approximation of its value here at PriceCharting.com
To help, here are some links directly to some consoles. These are not ALL of the consoles the site has. So please if you do not see a link below for the console you are looking for, go to the site and look around. This should cover MOST games, if it is not listed, please ask in this thread.
Also, to possibly get you closer to the "real" value. Click on this link once you found your game (for loose/CIB/Sealed) which will show you the data it is pulling from (like this). You can see if there are any outliers being sold for far to much, or far to little. Maybe a listing that had other games with it is being used for data, or its CIB rather than loose.

Posts and comments that do not follow the below rules will be removed.
We ask that all of our members act responsibly. We do not condone a rude or hostile environment. Whilst you may have a differing opinion on what someone collects, be it loose, CIB, sealed and/or graded games, consoles and accessories; we ask that you keep it civil. We welcome discussions of all things related to collecting games, from comparing games in a series to why you like a certain console over others; but we do not welcome antagonising other users over a certain sub-section of games, or arranging to post to get a rise out of certain people - it just makes you look immature. Essentially, if you can't take it, don't dish it.
You can use Reddit's "Block" feature to ignore a user that you don't like, for whatever reason.
Turning something into an argument or harassing other users because you don't like "X" takes away from what the sub is about. This is a bannable offense, please be awesome to each other.
We're not a subreddit that's dedicated to verification, valuation or identification requests. Whilst we are one of the largest gaming subreddits, we focus solely on aspects of collecting. There are other subreddits that are better equipped to these requests which are detailed in our megathread. The Megathread is pinned to the top of the subreddit (when browsing by "Top" on Old Reddit), or located in "Community Highlights" on Reddit Mobile.
Under Rule 2, the following submissions will be removed:
We do not allow the promotion of items or services, or submissions posted with the intent of advertising or promoting businesses or shops; unless it is from approved channels. Other methods of self-promotion require prior approval from the moderators. Please message the moderators via ModMail first prior to posting your material. Approval will be granted at the moderators' discretion.
This includes, but is not limited to:
If the only submissions from your account consist of self-promotion, this will result in a permanent restriction of your account from our community.
Approved channels can be added at moderators' discretion. Please message the moderators via ModMail to ask about adding an approved channel. If you haven't received approval from the moderators, any attempts to continue promoting a channel without prior authorisation will result in a permanent ban. This includes posting your content anyway when you're still awaiting a response.
If you get caught advertising without approval and then message the moderators for approval... No. You're not going to get approval. Any further attempt to hide your app/tool/site in your comments will lead to a permanent ban. You've been told not to do it, don't push your luck.
We very rarely approve potential resources unless we feel that they are of vast importance to the community. The list of approved resources can be found in our wiki:
The list of denied resources can be found below (use a browser, addition to the "New" wiki coming soon). Any attempt to share/advertise a denied resource will result in a ban.
The following posts are deemed as low-effort and not allowed under Rule 4:
Submissions of low-effort posts are at the mods' discretion.
Whilst we enjoy the odd meme post now and then, we ask that memes or joke posts are only shared on the first Monday of every month. If you have a meme, or a joke post, or something you think is on the line of being a joke post; please wait until the first Monday of the next month.
If you are generally unsure of the post, please contact the mods using the "message moderators" and ask us.
Just because it is related to video games, doesn't mean that it is related to game collecting.
We are a physical game collecting subreddit. This means that posts regarding the physical collections (be it, video games, consoles or accessories) of our community are allowed. Clue’s in the name.
Submissions of posts not being related are at the mods' discretion, and include but are not limited to:
As this community is one of the largest trafficked subreddits, video submissions are rarely allowed due to spam potential and this is highly enforced. If you feel that your video has value to the subreddit, please message the moderators using ModMail prior to posting any video.
This includes, but is not limited to:
Repair/mod videos are unlikely to be approved, unless they are deemed as relevant information by the moderators.
If the video you are sharing was produced by yourself, this will be removed under Rule 3.
We are not here for you to make money. Do not post affiliate links, or links to a company/person who you are affiliated with and stand to make monetary/social gain from. This includes coupon codes, Temu/AliExpress links, etc.
Any attempt to share affiliate links will be seen as spam, and will result in the permanent restriction of your account from our community.
We're not a subreddit that's dedicated to buying or selling. Whilst we are one of the largest gaming subreddits, we focus solely on aspects of collecting. There are other subreddits that are better equipped to these requests, such as r/GameSale and r/HardwareSwap.
Asking about a certain website, or good places to buy/sell is allowed, providing that there are no attempts to buy/sell from other users in the subreddit. Do not message the moderators to attempt to have your sales submissions approved. They will be ignored.
No discussion of politics, no posting anything of politics in title, imagery, or in the post in any way (country/state/county/pride flags do not count). This is subject to mod interpretation.
There are times a person or person will post, comment, or argue on the subreddit that will pull focus away from (purposefully or maliciously) the atmosphere and/or culture we have. That is rage baiting, arguing semantics, discussion of things that are off topic for lengthy back and forths. This also includes organised and concentrated attempts to belittle, planning to engage with malicious intent and harassment across different platforms.
This also includes any attempt to “weaponise” the custom report feature. Whilst we welcome reports on rule-breaking submissions as they make moderating the subreddit easier; reporting a post/comment because you simply do not like the content or the person in question takes away what makes this community great. Any user found to have “weaponised” the report feature in order to continue a vendetta against a certain person or group will be permanently removed from the community; be it automated removals or a permanent ban.

Thought it was time I finally photographed!
All games are CIB - with all inserts and pamphlets etc.
Some of these games are from my childhood, but the majority of the collecting began in 2023.
Still have 5/6 on my list left to get 😁.

Usually this pawnshop only has common sports games but I found this gem today. They also had the Musashi sequel but the Manual was missing, I hear that game is not that good anyway.

Pretty upset on a sentimental level. Recently moved back into my parents place and left some of my collection on the bottom shelves, knowing it was a temp move. I never anticipated a flood happening.
I know most of these aren't exactly rare, but some are harder to get (like the Simpsons games) and a lot I've owned since new, and are (were) in pristine condition with manuals and everything.
Disks are still fine, but the covers and manuals soaked up all the water.
Not sure where to go from here

Just go these kirby amiibo at target for $15 each. (Originally $50) One for my brother and the other two for me for less than the price of one. Hopefully your target has some available.

I love it when a sale (plan) comes together.
I know everyone else in the world has probably played the Resident Evil games a million times, I never have, and I’ve been looking for them physically on sale for quite a while.
Yes, I know I could probably get them all cheaper digitally with all the DLC, as I’ve seen many times over the last 12 months. Lke I say, I wanted them physically.
It took two different GameStop’s, but I was able to get the majority of them using the $4 for $40 sale. After my pro membership, they ended up being $9.50 a piece. I can’t beat that.
My local GameStop has all of them for the Xbox as well and I’m tempted to go and buy those, even though I wanted the PlayStation versions because they generally run better on the PlayStation.
Now I just need four more to finish the set physically as far as I am concerned! 2RE, 4RE, 8, and 9. I got 5 as well but it’s not pictured is not pictured as it wasn’t part of the sale.
I usually take full advantage of the buy two get one free sale, that’s how I built up my switch collection, but this time the 4 for $40 sale really did well for me. The employee recommended the rhythm game, really fun so far.

They tack on Game Protection plan without your permission and it’s baked onto the promotion at a discount rate. Employee said word for word too.
Last time I checked I can refuse game protection and no problems arise other than fucking up their sales metrics.
Shame on me for not checking my receipt after I finished paying. I did check the POS system during checkout and there wasn’t game protection added on to the games.
Update: Went back to GameStop, explained the situation to an employee I usually buy from, and got the refund of $6.10. Then used that $6.10 towards pre-ordering Halo: Campaign Evolved.
Problem solved, but now I’m very cautious of that employee every time I check out.

I'm finding myself having a sort of gaming life crisis. Like I am not getting rid of my PS consoles or games, it's where I have collected primarily for years. Since 2004. But, with the recent announcement of them getting rid of discs, I've found myself with a few issues.
The first is that I'm going to hold onto physical as hard as possible, so I decided to start bulking up my Switch/Switch 2 collection by grabbing any games from my PS consoles that are on the platform. I feel like Switch 2 could really be the last console we see with physical media, which is heartbreaking, but it feels that way.
This also has resulted in the second issue, that I'm now double dipping a lot. Not just on what I already own on PS, but with pre orders for games coming out soon. I am kind of preparing for the end, grabbing what I can new now, and also games I always wanted physically but kind of forgot about.
But the most interesting outcome of this, is that for how invested I am in PlayStation, that ecosystem, specifically the 3-5 era, with trophies and DLC purchases, etc... I just can't sit down to play my PlayStation systems and enjoy it with the thought looming in the back of my mind that it all kind of feels pointless. Like, if I can't collect new games physically on Sony after 2028, I know that it will deter me from buying or playing games, because I already cannot enjoy a game the same way digitally. I just like having physical media in my console, and playing it that way. Play a game digitally, and not having a sort of "physical trophy" to represent the game on the shelf feels gross to me.
I really want to play on PlayStation, because I like trophies and achievements, they give me a goal, or a thing to brag about when I platinum my favorite game, or something to guide me to complete a game or return to it later.
I am slowly realizing that I may just... stop collecting PlayStation completely eventually if that feeling keeps up. I have already been playing my favorites more on Switch, because it's on the go and convenient, even if the performance in many of them is worse... the games are still fun. Collecting those carts is fun.
I'm just... I dunno. Throwing this out into the void. I have kinda felt like a gaming refugee looking for a home, especially as a collector.
Has anyone else had these feelings?

Zaklinac is Witcher in Czech. I couldn’t resist this cute release (their language is cute for Poles).
Still want to get:
GoD Ragnarok
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone
Then I am done most likely for PS4.

I've finally organized my collection to a point where I wanted to share it.
While I do play a variety of titles, I wanted to focus collecting my favorite franchises, those being Zelda, Metal Gear, Metroid, and 007. On top of collecting these franchises, I wanted to focus on 1 specific console, so I chose the SNES. This was my 1st console growing up, so it has a special place in my heart.
For the most part I aim to collect CIB versions, except for the SNES collection. There, I focus on getting cartridges for the most part. Outside of a few more I'm looking to get, along with a few boxes/manuals for some loose 007 cartridges and the BOTW amiibo (the only Zelda amiibo I'm missing), I'm at a point now where collecting missing titles for these franchises is getting both difficult and costly, purely due to them being rare and/or in-demand (Zelda being the biggest offender in this case). Still, I'm very satisfied with where my collection is as of now, and with the shelves that I have here which came as-is in my house, I don't have much room left without expanding further anyway. For the most part I see myself slowing down just a bit, focusing less on the eBay's and Mercari's of the world, and aiming to go to the occasional retro gaming con and vintage shop. Among my missing grails, I'm aiming to add a CIB A Link to the Past (my favorite game ever), and MSX copies of Metal Gear 1 and 2. Also, I know that Funkos, artwork, and vinyl records aren't exactly "game collecting", but by virtue of them being tied to gaming franchises, I felt it was cool to share them.
Happy to answer any and all questions! (Also, if images are blurry, it's reddit, i took all but 1 photo here with a fancy mirrorless camera, had issues with mobile so this post is from a PC).
Special shoutouts to Gameye for their tracking app and accepting 25+ of my submissions, and Dan @ RetroProtection for answering all my questions and providing the protective cases I use for my games.
