A friend and me are planning a visit to Enschede's friday nightlife by bus and our bus back home leaves saturday morning from the Main Station at 6:40 am. Every bar/club closes by 4 am right? Are there any good opportunities to spend those 2 and a half hours of waiting time somewhere safe and maybe even warm? We would choose a 24/7 McDonald's but I could not find that either.

Any good ideas (no hookups) welcome! Thanks in advance

Hallo / Hello! I am an American trying to come to Enschede for higher studies (at Universiteit Twente). I love turning to poetry as an escape from work and my "serious" academic life: reading poetry, writing poetry, and meeting other local poets in gatherings has been the highlight of my evenings and weekends. I'm wondering if there are any local poets, poetry groups or "open mic" type of sessions that meet in the Twente/Enschede area? Couldn't find much on google, but maybe these fly under the radar! I'm interested in art, gaming and anime but I feel like it's hard to find places where I could get to know people with similar interests.

Behind me is a dead end, but in front of me is a "verplicht fietspad" (mandatory cycling road) which means no cars are allowed to drive there. I'm in my car and I have nowhere to go. I think I'll have to spend the night here.

If I understand the rules correctly, there's no parking in the street within the Noorderhagen, Kalanderstraat, Hendrink Jan van Heekplein, Zuiderhagen circle.

There are some parking lots nearby like the Q-Park for € 16 / day, H.J. van Heek parkeergarage also for € 16 / day, and not too far from there is Hermandad for €8,50 / day but that one seems to be open only on Saturdays and Sundays. Google maps also shows parking at Nijverheidstraat 15 Parking, but that one seems to be 2 hours max.

Which one is your preferred place to park if you have to park a car near the center for the entire day (and night)?

Im hoping to have an upgrade in terms of gym equipment. Is there any good gym's in Enschede where they offer some nice bodybuilding pieces?

Is het jullie ook opgevallen? Ben ik nou gek? Sinds een aantal maanden, iedere keer dat ik een uurtje of meer in de binnenstad zit op een terras, rijdt er wel 10x een politiewagen langs en nog een paar keer de handhaving er tussendoor ook nog.

Ligt het aan mij, of was dat vroeger niet zo? Moeten we ons hier nou veiliger door voelen? Ik baal er vooral van dat ze wel 10 keer per uur een rondje door de binnenstad kunnen rijden maar niet kunnen komen opdraven bij een uit de hand lopende burenruzie midden in de nacht...

Wat is dit toch de laatste tijd met Enschede? Iets van de afgelopen gemeenteraadsverkiezingen? Hoe denken jullie hierover?

I'm an international student coming to Enschede in a couple of months. I'm also a lesbian, and never been to a gay bar so not familiar with the rules.

I was wondering if I'd be welcome at Stonewall Cafe or if it's mostly a men's gay bar. My ld Dutch friend told me that places like that mostly cater to men, and I don't want to intrude on their space.
