So I have a WIP that was supposed to be a gift for my now Ex-fiancé. It hurts that he turned mentally and financially abusive. I feel a failure as a man for leaving him and for allowing it to go on so long.

However in just in the starting stages of making a king size blanket. It is in a color I like, but I also know a friend that likes the color and I think if I add a border in a conversation of one other color and body color it would be really great looking.

I'd love to gift it to this friend, and I know they would treasure a handmade gift like this.

But I don't want to practice poor etiquette by re-gifting once the other 90% of work is put in to finish it, something that was originally meant to be for someone else.

I do like the color so I'd not be opposed to keeping it for myself. But also would love to gift my great friend a labor of love like it too

Is re-gifting an only 10% done WIP that was meant for an Ex-fiancé a big taboo? Or would the fact that almost all the work out into it was now intended for them, (as someone that an amazing friend has helped me through great struggles and is right now) make it ok?

I've been working on a very detailed throw blanket for what seems like a year now. Only 80ish rows out of 220 to go. I've also finished about 10 or more side projects to keep my sanity. How often do you all have a side project or two of three? What do you usually do as a side wip? Happy crocheting!

Thoughts on chenille blanket yarn versus size 4 yarn acrylic for blankets?

Does it lower the value, knowing it didn’t take as long to make?

Do you prefer the smaller stitching of size 4 yarn Or do you prefer the warmth/thickness and softness of the blanket yarn?

I have been crocheting for about 14 years and have never even watched a tutorial on Tunisian crochet until today, and I am wondering what kind of projects is it particularly good for? It looks like it makes a pretty thick fabric, so the thing that comes immediately to my mind is handles for bags. I can't really think of anything else.

My hand is sprained I cannot crochet 😭😭😭 it’s taking forever to heal. How am I supposed to “self care” if I can’t use my hand for any self care hobbies!? The agony I swear.

It’s worked regular on one row and then the next you go back to front with a yarn under and reinsert the hook into the other side of your pulled up loop

I’m just looking for some general info. I got back into crocheting and used to use a lot of books and just kinda stuck to the same patterns or same type of crafts. This was way before AI came into the picture. Now that I’m more of an intermediate crocheter, I’m branching out. So I want to know… Are we using Ribblr? Or Ravelry more? I want to stay away from AI and truly support artists but I feel like I just don’t know enough.

If anyone can also send help with how are we telling that a pattern is AI? Appreciate whatever you got!

My cousin made this crochet bouquet for her small business and I had to show it off. Every flower is handmade, and I honestly love that it's a bouquet you can keep forever. What do you think? Any color combinations you'd love to see?

I am making this blanket and I feel like I am going nuts. Its so pretty which I am glad, but omg its already been like 2 weeks and I still keep going like a maniac. Here are some pictures about me stressing 🙃. How was y'alls experience on this?

Made these a while ago, cotton yarn and 4mm hook. :)

The sweaters are named 'tire track' and 'fairy circle.' Made them about a year ago but finally decided to post them.

I designed the pattern by making a basic 4 panel sweater but increasing towards to top of the body panel and ends of the sleeves. I used post stitches and 3rd loop half double crochets to make the lines. The spaces are a modified shell stitch. For the ribbing I used a back loop half double crochet (which is the best ribbing to crochet imo)

I love self designing, and for crochet I really recommend making 4 panel sweaters.

I finished this sweater about a month ago (just in time for a trip to a cold climate in August) and I was so excited about the colorway and pattern and everything... until I put it on. And I HATED the way it looked on me. Yes, I wove in the ends and yes I blocked the sweater (this picture is from before all that), but I just couldn't make myself love this sweater. I had even tried it on in stages, as I finished the front and back panels. I think I had convinced myself that once I finished it, I would love it, but I never did.

So I frogged the whole thing. Now I'm making a new sweater that I'm hoping to finish before my trip in... 19 days. Wish me luck!

i havent picked up a needle in maybe a year, but now that hes here i have to make him a blanket lol. its not the best i can do but im getting back into my groove!

I crocheted this tiny ladybug and made a miniature woodland scene for it on a real wood slice.

It's made with embroidery thread and a 0.45 mm crochet hook. I love creating miniature worlds where even the smallest details matter.

About 3 years ago I started making granny squares on the bus. I finally finished the yarns Id chosen for the squares and decided to make them a blanket.

I think I used different hook sizes on some of the squares! I made some mistakes, where I snipped the middle string in the wrong spot and took out the center of the square, so I made applique lol

It isnt perfect or professional, but I hope my daughter loves it (a gift). No pattern.

I have been crocheting for years but lose track of where I am very easily.

I know there’s really nothing anyone can do about this BUT being plus size (size 16) and liking the look of crochet with thinner yarn (DK and under) is so frustrating when making crochet garments.

Crochet takes lots of yarn to begin with in comparison to knitting, and I generally don’t love the look of worsted weight yarn, as well as the fact that making a bigger garment with worsted makes the entire thing SO heavy.

I don’t mind the time it takes, but it can get to be so expensive. Anyone else feel similarly?

Anyway, here’s a raglan I just made that I’m pretty proud of!

I used lots of yarn scraps to make a baby blanket. Length of the rows were mostly determined by how much yarn I had. Though I was really focused on making it look random. 😂

It’ll soon be a year since I’ve bought any yarn, have to make it to September. I’m pretty much out of acrylic yarn now, but I still have plenty of cotton to last me until then.

I had joined this sub to share my excitement of my first attempt to crocheting!

Alas another first-time poster made me realize how childish this actually is. I even finished it off by recalling my childhood friendship bracelet making abilities.

I have since made another 3 times as long “scarf”. I am just practicing that first type of stitch… (slip stitch I think?)

Until I can have someone show me the next step (I learn from hands on experience and can’t just read or watch a video) I’ll just be making longer and longer scarves!

Sidenote: A looming day-long work meeting push me into finally working on the little kit I bought months ago.
Turns out with my hands busy and my mind focused on just two things-my stitching and the speaker-I comprehended and retained all the information so much better. ADHD crochet trick for the win!
