Word of Encouragement From a July 2025 passer!

I'm sure a majority of you are on the edge of a crash out because you are one week out - and that's normal! I want to provide you with how my test experience went so hopefully when your time comes, my experience will provide you with a little bit of relief.

To start, I was a painfully average law student and did not go to a top lawschool. I followed my bar prep company plan, used critical pass flaschards, and felt like I knew absolutely nothing going into to the test. Day one of the exam, specifically the MEEs, made my absolutely crash out to my core. I felt like I had maybe gotten right 2/6 MEEs, and on the majority of the others I had to make up rule statements and go with it. However, I did write something for every single MEE and followed a strict IRAC formula. I was confident that no matter what, I did so bad on those that I had to have failed. Went into the second day and did my best on the multiple choice - however 200 MC will leave you so exhausted that you'll have no idea how to even gauge how you did.

Post exam, while I waited for my score I fully convinced myself I failed. The MEEs had me so distraught (and they will have you distraught as well). When I finally got my score I could not believe that I passed, and even crazier, that I got a 303. And my writing score was higher than my MBE score. All this is to say - if you've put in the work, you got this. No matter what - the test is hard af and you will walk out of it convinced you failed. But the one thing I took away from the bar exam was that it had me so insanely gaslit - the whole experience is meant to feel like it is life or death and the exam is designed to make you feel like you failed. But trust the process and yourself and relax. You've all got this! xoxo, your very average student who followed the bar course, thought they missed every MEE, and still passed. Good luck soldiers!!

I sometimes think I rather make law school harder but once you graduate you’re done then this final money grab or a test.

Seriously...I am sick to my stomach

My scores fluctuate between 50-73% daily and it's usually based on my mood. The slightest things and comments make me anxious, nervous, and it shows in my scores. I am sick of people telling me "oh at this point you shouldn't be learning, you should be doing xyz." But I know more today than I did last week.

I am usually not an emotional person, but I have never cried so much in my life. Like I feel like I can't regulate my emotions and this test is going to be the death of me. I am working my ass off and it just keeps seeming like it's not enough.

I should've been studying while I was in the womb.

Why does no one talk about how hellish this experience is????

What are some random rules that you struggle to remember?

List 'em here, I'll start:

Dying declarations are only for HOMICIDE and CIVIL cases

Commercial tenants who hold over may be bound to YEAR-TO-YEAR periodic tenancies, but residential holdovers are usually month-to-month.

Statements against penal interest in criminal cases must be corroborated

Establishment clause test: history/tradition + encouragement? + coercion?

Martial comms privilege may be asserted by either spouse, but spousal testimonial may only be asserted by the testifying spouse

Cramming in a week lol

Anyone else still studying new materials?? Like I just started Con Law today. Am I alone? If not, what's everyone's strategy?

I may be going against the prevailing opinion, but last minute cramming helped me

First, congrats on making it this far in the process.

Second, this exam is bullshit, and sorry you have to do this.

Third, please exercise and sleep and eat well and have sex and do everything to keep yourself sane this last week.

That all said, there are a lot of perspectives on last minute cramming. In my case, it helped. There were civ pro points I just happened to have read that I encountered on the bar. I don't think it's a bad idea to study until the end.

However, don't put the expectation on yourself either to know 100% of the material. No one does. You aren't going to get a 400. No one does. You are going to forget shit on the exam. Everyone does. That's normal. You're normal. It's about maximizing how many points you can get, and being comfortable giving up control about the ones you can't.

One last point: Exam day itself is pretty tough. Being in the actual situation is hard. Right before and when time is called, breathe. Give yourself positive self talk. And just start. If you feel frozen for a minute, that's ok. But steady your mind and yourself, and give it your faithfully best attempt.

Night Between Exam Days

Anyone planning on just sleeping in their test chair overnight so they keep their brain in test mode? I am planning on bringing a pillow and blanket and just not leaving my chair until both days are done. Also planning on not wearing any deodorant in case the fumes get to my head and interfere with my thought process.

Any previous takers and passers do the same?

Last Minute MEE Cram—Which Source?

I’m looking for the very best source to last minute cram for the MEEs. Think of it this way.

If you were able to take one note card per subject into the MEE to use as reference material (if only! 😭), where would you source that info from?

I have access to JD One Sheets. Is it good enough? Is there something better? I just feel like I need to spend these last days hard core drilling a very limited amount of rules to nail them down, but I want to make sure I pick wisely.

Help! Good luck to all those out there who are panic strategizing along with me. Bonus points if you’re also an ADHD Queen/King.
