I sometimes think I rather make law school harder but once you graduate you’re done then this final money grab or a test.

Anyone else still studying new materials?? Like I just started Con Law today. Am I alone? If not, what's everyone's strategy?

That all said, there are a lot of perspectives on last minute cramming. In my case, it helped. There were civ pro points I just happened to have read that I encountered on the bar. I don't think it's a bad idea to study until the end.

However, don't put the expectation on yourself either to know 100% of the material. No one does. You aren't going to get a 400. No one does. You are going to forget shit on the exam. Everyone does. That's normal. You're normal. It's about maximizing how many points you can get, and being comfortable giving up control about the ones you can't.

One last point: Exam day itself is pretty tough. Being in the actual situation is hard. Right before and when time is called, breathe. Give yourself positive self talk. And just start. If you feel frozen for a minute, that's ok. But steady your mind and yourself, and give it your faithfully best attempt.

Anyone planning on just sleeping in their test chair overnight so they keep their brain in test mode? I am planning on bringing a pillow and blanket and just not leaving my chair until both days are done. Also planning on not wearing any deodorant in case the fumes get to my head and interfere with my thought process.

Any previous takers and passers do the same?

If you make all 6 MEEs Property essays specifically focused on RAP, you would have 6 essays only on RAP.

last night I had the most embarrassing epiphany when it comes to hearsay. For all of law school, and my previous Bar exam attempts...I have been under the impression that hearsay being offered for the "truth of the matter asserted" referred to the overarching claim or accusation of the problem and not what that specific piece of hearsay is claiming....I have never felt dumber in my life.

I’m looking for the very best source to last minute cram for the MEEs. Think of it this way.

If you were able to take one note card per subject into the MEE to use as reference material (if only! 😭), where would you source that info from?

I have access to JD One Sheets. Is it good enough? Is there something better? I just feel like I need to spend these last days hard core drilling a very limited amount of rules to nail them down, but I want to make sure I pick wisely.

I'm shitting my pants as just my normal everyday condition. It's just par for the course for me, it's like nothing. Been training my whole life for this. Let's get it done.

I passed in J2021 and am unfortunately doing it again next week because silly me engaged in some cheeky interstate travel haven't been admitted long enough to waive in.

There are a lot of tips about getting rest, tapering, etc. from people who have completed 2000+ MBEs and have handwritten out 100 essays - they are great, but don't work for the kids in the back. If you are 1) a decent test taker/reader 2) mostly getting questions wrong because you don't know the law super well 3) a crammer who gets results, keep reading.

What I did during the final week of J2021:

- GET THE LOW HANGING FRUITS. You owe it to yourself to crush torts / conlaw / crim. A point is a point, it doesn't matter where it comes from!! Conlaw, torts and crim (not crim pro) are imo the most coachable and crammable subjects. Memorize the rules and buzz words and you're truly more than halfway there. The questions are fast and easy, you need to harvest these low hanging fruits. I think torts are hilarious, but gimme points.

- I don't understand why people tell you to stop learning new law before the exam. Hello, this is a substantive test - this is the SAT II, AP exam - not the LSAT GMAT SAT. Don't let bar prep companies sell you on strategy (though I do agree with Mr. Grossman that keeping everything separate is a game changer). This is the time to rote memorize anything with a list of elements. I am not one of those people who can recall credit card numbers and flawlessly recite travel itineraries, but my brain can retain what a burglary is for a few days. This is the time to flash card, active recall, whatever to get this in your head for a limited time only. Whatever you do, make sure you are reciting every single word - not just flipping the card and going mmm hmm I know this, this is how you end up arsoning your own house.

I will be reviewing tort and crime elements and civ pro rules the night before and maybe even the morning of the exam. My brain dgaf about this stuff and cannot retain it for more than 48 hours - ymmv.

- Be strategic with practice MBE questions. imo it's never the time to drill hundreds of MBE questions just for the numbers - especially not now. practice questions need to either (1) teach you new law / cement your understanding of nuances or (2) teach you how to read complex fact patterns. Ego is important but reviewing law is a much better way to get points. Adaptibar is not a video game.

The long novel property questions are usually 80% fluff - don't be intimidated. read the question and go back if you must.

If you hit a good streak, GREAT, stop for the day and go review the long outlines.

- plug 1-5 holes in your knowledge, even subtopics you are secretly slightly intimidated by.

GUYS, THINK ABOUT IT. EVERYTHING on the bar is explainable to a jury member. You know, a cross section of the community of non-lawyers lay ppl who are distracted, hungover, mentally playing candy crush, bored, etc. None of this is deep. THERE IS NOTHING in the long outlines that you cannot process. Don't let fear freeze you up.

I got a bad grade in civ pro and a worse grade in evidence, and did not want to deal with crim pro or character evidence or pleadings ever again. I start developing a literal rash as soon as I realize I'm doing a civ pro question. The Saturday before the exam I finally decided to grow up and sit down with my outline and Google and went through most of the concepts. I'm glad I did.

You can use ChatGPt to help you slice and dice information all kinds of ways, and ask it to come up with fact patterns covering several issues. YOU CAN DO THIS. pick 5 commonly tested topics that scare you and spent a couple of hours.

"Hi chat, please give me a fact pattern that covers all types of contract damages tested on the UBE, make the facts a parody of the plot of Succession. Please include commonly tested nuances and exceptions and 5 distractor facts, and explain how each type of damages is calculated and what the common pitfalls are".

- ignore tiny sub topics that give you a hard time and at most 2 points. Fry bigger fish. Move on.

What I wish I did (and am attempting to do now):

- on the topic of low hanging fruits....outline a few MPTs, and do something to familiarize yourself with it, be it the BarMD video, Smart Bar Prep PDFs, the MPT stuff from your course. Pick ONE, and apply it to a few exams. I completely ignored the MPT and encountered it for the first time on exam day - do not try at home.

- Read lots of MEE sample essays. If you don't understand something, one of the best ways to unclog your brain is to read sample essays. I didn't open Themis' sample essays until a few days before the exam and I'm still kicking myself. Especially the mushier, less bullet point rules topics like search and seizure / jurisdiction, it was the sample essays that really made me feel I "got it".

- don't feel obliged to finish your resources. You need to go through some form of a long outline carefully and do some practice questions, that's it. I liked critical pass for the rote memory heavy subjects, but not so much the subjects where they just cut and paste the outline onto smaller pieces of paper. Don't beat yourself up for falling for anxiety marketing/consumerism - you can donate it someone later for karma points.

In 2021 I had Themis (including uWorld) and Critical Pass - I did about 40% of Themis lmao mostly because I had just graduated from Zoom School of Law and extreme talking heads/screen fatigue, and I am not an auditory learner. Probably did 500ish on uWorld on top of whatever questions on paper Themis provided.

this time I have someone's Barbri books from eBay, Adaptibar and Mary Basick's book which I've been using as my long outline. I've also looked at a couple of Goat modules - very impressed but I prefer books - I'm a visual learner who learns by doodling and drawing diagrams.

GOOD LUCK!! and remember, if you have a quarter life crisis and decide to move to the midwest, do it before your UBE score expires OR after you've been admitted long enough to waive in. Don't be a dummy like me.

EDIT: Did anyone watch the World Cup semi-final game with England and Argentina? As a long-suffering lifelong England fan, nothing pains me more than praising the Argentinians, but you need to FIGHT and BELIEVE until the very end. You can turn it around this week, and you might hit a winning streak during the last 20 minutes of your MBE section when you're tired and sweaty. Try to be curious and interested in the facts as much as you can, and don't quit while you're ahead and play defense early and take life advice from Thomas Tuchel. I cannot be more serious about this- don't worry about failing, manage your fear of WINNING.

EDIT: At the risk of sound very sappy / old, this will be for many of you (and me) the last chance to sit down and THINK and study something intellectually meaty in a long time, possibly the very last time. Try to enjoy some parts of it. There is so much due diligence / doc review / time entries / signature pages / mind-numbing life admin ahead. You will spend so much time relentlessly moving money and things from point A to point B and back. Truly, try to enjoy this, just for this week!

If you combine all three MEE only topics into one essay (Agency, Corps, Partnership), and then combine Evidence and Crim or Evidence and Con Law and then theoretically Torts and Contracts or maybe Property and Contracts, you would have all 8 MEE topics in 6 essays.
