I'm 33. Finally bit the bullet for good. I shaved it all off last year, but my wife convinced me to let it grow again for a friends wedding. But, I was just not happy with it at all. Any sweat, any bed hair, any angle other than from my wife's height and it just looked bad. Much happier with it all gone, especially now that my beard is also catching up.

Longtime lurker on the sub. My hairline has been reaching for the stars, but I always thought I would look like an alien if I shaved it. Still getting used to it.

I wasn't sure I would post, but today was the first day in years I braved a blustery day with no hat or hood to keep the central tuft in check. It felt nice. I wanted to thank this sub for giving me courage to take the plunge.

I see there’s now an AI flair, but I saw my first “this is what AI says I’d look like bald” post in here today and I did not like it.

I believe these types of posts completely undermine the incredible power of this unique and wholesome subreddit. It dilutes the emotional payoff and confidence boost experienced by the risk-takers who make themselves vulnerable.

You post your photos, you ask the council, then you come back with before/after when you’re ready to take the leap of faith.

EDIT: I’m not talking about the memes. I’m talking about the “this is what AI thinks I’d look like bald” posts. Using tools to see yourself bald is whatever. I just don’t think AI versions of Reddit users belong here.

Despite being a non bald person, this sub popped into my algorithm a few months ago. It’s become one of the places on Reddit I frequent most, because of how loving and supportive the bald community are. And also because guessing the meme is really fun 😂

One of the most positive places I’ve found on Reddit. I wonder how many others there are throwing support behind our bald brothers and sisters. Even though I know I’m not truly part of this community, it’s found a tender place in my heart.

Dear bald community,

After 13 years of worrying about my hair getting thinner year after year, I finally took the leap!

Looking back, I realize how much time and energy I wasted stressing over something I couldn’t control. I was constantly thinking about how I looked and what other people might think of me.

When I was 20, I noticed my hair was changing. I wasn’t bald yet, but it had lost its life, and deep down I knew it was only a matter of time.Baldness runs in my family. Both my grandfathers and my father lost their hair, so I knew what was coming.

Still, I held on for far longer than I should have. Not because I loved my hair, but because I was afraid of how I would look without it.

Ironically, I never really heard people talking negatively about bald men. What I did hear were comments about people with thinning hair. Sometimes those comments were even directed at me. At first, they hurt. But over time, I realized they weren’t the real problem. The real problem was me not accepting the fact that my hair was thinning and not doing anything about it.

The turning point came when one of my closest friends, who’s also bald, looked at me and simply said, “It’s time.” Damn, he was right. And so were many others.

So I finally picked up the clippers and joined the bald community 33 years old. Honestly, I wish I had done it years ago. The amount of confidence and freedom I feel now is something I never expected.

Btw, I’m usually very anonymous on the internet, so sharing pictures of myself and telling my story is a big step for me. But it felt important to do it. If my story helps even one person who’s struggling with the same thing, it’ll be worth it.

Posted on here a few days ago and the support was overwhelming. Took the plunge and it feels amazing. Funny enough the only thing still bugging me was coming to work today but I tackled that head on (pun intended)

I may let the short buzz come back for a little bit but I wanted to go full smooth at first.

Did the thing more than a year ago. It’s been a steep learning curve trying to take care of my scalp (and keep it warm in the winter…) but overall… it’s going well. I had locs which had started to thin at the top of my head so I did a small chop. After that I went further to completely cutting all the hair. I really appreciate all the encouragement on here… thanks everyone!!!

Sucks cause I've always had long thick hair, I wished I let it grow out more when I was younger

Approached you guys while ago for council and decided to pull the trigger a couple days ago. Went with a no guard first just to test the waters and see what kind of dome I was working with and to be honest I'm not mad.

Now I'm thinking about going for the whole shebang since I've already made it this far. I just kinda want to get a little sun on the ol' scalp first so I don't blind everyone with the fresh factory finish.

I don't actually need to shave my head, I just like the look and feel of being bald!

OK, here is my journey. It spans 20 years.

The Pic with hair was in 2006, the one in the sweater was 2014, when I used a 3 guard. I eventually went down to a 1/2 guard which you see in the suit headshot. That was February this year. Finally said the heck with it and went Bic smooth about a week ago. I love it.

The only thing that stinks is I wear progressive glasses. All the time... I have a tan line on my left side from driving. Nothing on the right. 😂😂

Have some time off this week and was curious so... for the first time in my life I completely razor shaved my head, eyebrows, and face all at once. I can't remember the last time I had a clean face. I thought it looked pretty good.

Yesterday, I made a post here asking if it was time. I didn't expect to receive so many encouraging messages, thank you so much everyone 😭

I shaved a few hours later and here I am now!! It feels so weird after 25 years having hair but I think you all were right: it was time...and I think I like it!

Can grow a full on facial hair no problem so im keeping all that.

I've been lurking for a while, I think I knew it was coming. I recently saw some pictures of myself at the beach and my son's birthday party and realized it was time. Wow. I did not realize how much of an effect this would have on my mental health. I feel lighter, more free, and more confident! This community is so amazing with all the support you give each other so y'all definitely gave me the confidence to make the change. I appreciate y'all 👊

Is it skullet time or what

Some friends told me about this subreddit. Had a bad hairline from when I was like 20, cut it all off last year at 24. If you’re debating, I promise life is easier bald than balding!

I used a hair system for 5+ years and it was a good companion… recently decided to move on and assume my appearance as I am with no side steps. Jumped in the cold pool but now I keep thinking on if (or how much) I lost in attraction. I need some toasting but also tips and honest opinions. I posted some before and after

40 years old, started thinning at 30. Just got back from the barber. He told me "why not, you're already halfway there". Apart from the fact that I'm a little self conscious about my head shape, that very little hair on top feels hard to get rid off. Is taking the leap that scary for everyone?

Lost my hair two years ago. Learned how big my forehead was. Working on confidence to go out and about with no wig/scarf/hat. Taking the fastest showers ever. Enjoying the lack of razor burn.

thoughts on hubby’s hair? the hair loss on the top of his head has ramped up in the last couple of years and this is how he wears it majority of the time if he isn’t wearing a hat. he’s been debating on going down to the shortest of short “buzzes” (essentially bald i guess) you can do, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
