I’m looking for insight from anyone with experience getting a position at TAS in an admin / operations / management role.

Are all positions posted on the public City of Toronto portal? Or are most posted and filled internally? Would it be beneficial to get on the wait list for volunteering to get a foot in the door? Would it be helpful to try for roles in other departments at the city in hopes of transferring over eventually?

I have almost a decade of experience in animal shelters, in both animal care and program operations. I’ve been keeping an eye out for almost 3 years at this point, but the only roles I ever see posted by TAS on the City’s portal are Animal Care Attendant, RVT, and Veterinarian. Are most people starting as ACAs and working their way up?

Surely there are plenty of administrative / programs / ops positions at such a large organization, so how does one get their foot in the door?

I will be working downtown soon, and want to commit to a WR/DB workout (for gridiron football). I’ll have time at night, after 9 pm, maybe earlier. Aiming for 3-5 workouts a week in addition to playing in my flag league.

I had an Equinox tour, and maybe it’s too pricey, though I’ll reconsider it once the King and Bathurst location opens. That location has a cold plunge and steam room, and is closer to work.

Are there any other gyms, that can offer room for field drills and recovery (cold plunge, stretch room, steam room?)

I already lowkey cancelled one Equinox tour. It’s on the high end, and the Bay location isn’t the biggest.

I’m wondering if anyone knows of a bridal boutique that has similar style or vibe in Toronto. I’m from Niagara region and options are super limited here. If I don’t find anything similar I’ll make the trip to Chicago.

Making a career shift into marketing after a while in a different industry, and trying to build up a real network in the city instead of just cold-adding people on LinkedIn. Going to a CMA event tomorrow evening, which is a start, but that's the only one I've actually got on my radar.

I came across The Marketing Meetup IRL Toronto and a Digital Marketing Toronto meetup group online, and they look promising, casual, recurring, actually marketer-focused rather than generic business networking. Has anyone here actually been to either? Worth going to, or more of a "everyone stands around awkwardly" situation?

Also open to any other recommendations, meetups, associations, communities, whatever, that people in marketing here actually rate. Trying to avoid the stuff that looks good on paper but turns out to be dead or overly salesy in person.

I know this is a long shot, but does anybody know the spice rub recipe for the BBQ lamb with cumin sold at T&T's BBQ counter? That stuff is crack. It's not really the same as the BBQ lamb skewers you get at other restaurants.

I moved from Eastern Canada to upstate NY because I had a job here for a while. That job ended, and I will have to move back to Canada soon. I am thinking of moving to Ontario because it is close, pretty advanced and also I don't want to go back to Atlantic Canada. I am an engineer and applying to jobs in Ontario vigorously, but it may take some time before I land something. I might have to move there without a job.

Since I am not familiar with the place, can you guys tell me somewhere cheap where I can sleep and store my stuff while I job hunt throughout the day?

I don’t live in Ontario anymore but have a good friend there who recently became homeless. She’s a trans woman, 33 with no income and very little savings. She is working through a lot of mental health issues and is dealing with trauma and ptsd. She’s unable to work most jobs right now. She’s essentially couch surfing but it won’t last long and the one night she spent on the street was really awful, her phone got stolen and she almost got assaulted.

She’s in Toronto now and I’m wondering if anyone knows of any supports whether they be shelters, housing, food, etc. She has a therapist through a gender clinic that has been calling different shelters but wait lists are so long. I emailed an lgbt shelter for some resources but most of them are for people under 30. If you know of any supports for a trans woman over 30 it would mean a lot. She’s obviously in a low place and I don’t really know what to do for her. I don’t want her to lose hope so soon but her situation is obviously difficult.

Long story short, the space that we had booked for our wedding reception is blocked due to maintenance related to hazardous substance leaking in the room. The alternate space the management is offering is really bad. So now we are looking for an event space or a party room in downtown Toronto or near oldmill - islington area on 26th July. Yes! this Sunday!

I cannot stress how worried we are since we have to update all guests, especially many who are travelling, and the decor and catering needs cancelling.

Looking for a rooftop party room, or a restaurant with a nice view that can host 35 people wedding reception dinner + dance party from 7-11pm on this sunday.

As Far as transportation should we look into renting a vehicle, or would a combination of public transport and ride share be enough? Keep in mind I'm coming from the States (Not those kinds of Americans, we hate the orange guy) would I even be able to drive with an American license.

My Partner is Vegetarian so restaurant recommendations for her would be nice though it doesn't have to be strictly vegetarian/vegan.

And any sites to see? We are planning to go to the distillery district, St Lawrence Market and Casa Loma and I guess that ties into the transportation above.

There's a triathlon this weekend and the DVP is closed to noon on Sunday.

Does that mean the DVP opens right at noon? Or does it take a while for the triathlon to wind down and after they remove the pylons and in practice it really opens at 1/2pm?

Has anyone got any insights from last year? I need to be in Markham for 1pm.
