I’m in the army and looking to build an “m4 at home” AR for my personal use. This will be my 4th or 5th AR build but now I’d like something as close to my work rifle as possible. My question is this. Unless I go SBR, I can’t do a rifle with a 14.5 inch barrel. If I go pistol I have to do the brace. By virtue of having to move every few years it isn’t worth it for me to go into NFA territory as many of the places I could be sent wouldn’t allow NFA items, or weapons at all if I go OCONUS. Basically my question is this: is it better to go with a 14.5 inch pistol and deal with the brace, or go with the 16 inch rifle and deal with the (slightly) reduced maneuverability? This probably seems like splitting hairs but it’s to me important that I get this right. I’d really love to be able to more accurately build muscle memory with my weapon as my company only does live fire once a year.

The Malfunction:

As the title says im having primers pop out of spent cases and getting jammed up into the star chamber causing stoppages. Usually happens twice a mag. Usually I can just unload the mag, rack the bolt back, and shake to get the next round and primer from the last round out. Less likely is the malfunction manifesting as it getting stuck deeper, the extractor wont grab the round, and I have to jam a rod down the barrel to get them out.

The firearm:

Im shooting my new BCM Mk2 12.5 with YHM Turbo T3 and a BRT EZtune at .057 so I doubt the issue is overgassing.

The ammo:

The ammo im running is MKE 62gr SS109

Im gonna try some different ammo here soon but id like some opinions.

Of course I managed to scratch both moving the dremel before it was off all the way. Just used the carbide cutting bit and some drops of oil, took about 10 minutes for each taking it slow cleaning shavings out. Way more positive lock back that I had with the BAD lever and CMMG parts, more on the CMMG than the BAD lever since one was fine and one you could shake it into battery lol.

So I have a kabuto drop in frt and it runs fine in my db15 pistol (the brown lower) but I can’t get it to function in my db15 rifle (black one) , every time I pull the charging handle back it gets stuck like it’s binding to something, I have tried shaving the activator leg on the frt , and it’s not that bc I have shaved it all the way down bc I had an extra one to play with and it still is getting stuck , both lower are low pocket lowers and I just can’t figure out what it is. If anybody is willing to help that would be greatly appreciated. 🙏

I’d like to think I’m relatively familiar with firearms and I’m looking to finally get a nice ar or turn my range toy AR pistol into a rifle, I’ve got a M&P15 pistol with a 7” barrel, it’s been a fun gun but not practical, can’t use optics because of muzzle flash being so bad on it, no comfortable way to get good grip on it with such a short handguard, I’m looking to either get a new rifle or just get a new upper to slap on the lower, currently looking at the following options wondering what the general consensus is in terms of practicality and reliability, best bang for buck. Looking at a 14.5 super duty upper, DD m4a1 Ris iii 14.5 and a BCM 14.5 upper, I’d like to eventually run it suppressed but not an immediate priority, I’d like it to be smooth recoil and gassed well to help make my wife more comfortable shooting it and being introduced into firearms more, any help or opinions on what route to go is appreciated

Im looking for a budget lpvo probably 400 usd or less ( i know thats on the low end for lpvo but im just seeing if I like the platform and will upgrade if necessary) I've seen people say tango msr 1-6, strike eagle, and vortex venom. Any suggestions?

Picked up a complete BCM lower the other day before the laws here in Colorado change. I've got 10.5"-20" covered in 556 so I'm thinking I'll do my first 300 blk. This will be sbr'd and surpressed and be a home defense setup. I'm going to stick with BCM for the upper. What's everyone's opinion on 7" vs 9" vs 12.5? I like the idea of 12.5 for comfortability, but I've never shot anything with a 7 or 9 in an AR platform. Please post pictures of your setups if you have them.

Newbie here. I shot this morning in a very humid and foggy environment. For reference, I have a holosun 510c and HM3X magnifier. I know that since it’s an open emitter optic it’s not ideal for the elements but would an enclosed optic make a difference when it comes to fog? Even after wiping the lens the fog would come back shortly after due to how much moisture was in the air. What can I do about it besides wiping the lens every 5 minutes and is the open emitter optic the problem?

Alright yall, I have tried and tried and the only barrels I can find in stock are pencil or govt profile in an 11.5”.

I’m looking for heavy or the heaviest available in 11.5. I’m not going to do mag dumps on mag dumps but I want to keep the accuracy after it heats up.

Finally finished with this BCM. BCM upper and lower receiver (lower is circa 2009). Geissele super 42 buffer and braided spring, Geissele SSA-E trigger, HRF Concepts magwell, Aimpoint Comp M2 on an American defense mount. Can is a Dead Air CT5P. BCM furniture, Magpul CTR stock and a Odin O-Light mini ( I know I cheaped out on the light 😅). Really happy with how it turned out. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm wondering if y'all know any practical weapon lights that use AA batteries. My optic (Romeo 7) will also be running off double As, so having all the electronics on my rifle run off the same kinda battery would be absolutely sick.

Preferably on the budget side... if the Romeo wasn't enough of a hint. Not trying to spend a whole lot on a flashlight 🤷‍♂️

I know this is a really popular topic and brought up multiple times daily…. But from what I’ve heard BCM are gassed to just run. That being said what suppressors should I be looking for for a home defense platform?

My kids struggled to get a good grip/reach the trigger when we went out shooting, so I made a skinny anemic looking grip for them and put it on my site Rokin precision . Goofy af but they definitely handle better!

Smith & Wesson Volunteer XV or Ruger Harrier?

The ruger is cheaper so I want to go for that, but if paying a little extra is worth it I’m willing to. I don’t want to spend more that $600-$700 but if there is something truly worth saving and waiting for. Edit: also looking at smith & Wesson M&P 15 Sport III

Also what are the odds of finding something better used for this price at a gun shop?

Also I wanted to get something 5.56 but I was also looking at 7.62 rifles but the ammo seems a lot pricier.

Does anybody make any high pressure barrels, BCGs, and gas systems that can handle 65kpsi-70kpsi. Obviously there will be more wear but curious if they make them. I don’t mean just tested at those pressures but can actually run hot reloads.
