Roof spoiler Spoiler

Upvotes

I carry a bike on a hitch mount quite frequently. Would an aggressive roof spoiler have any noticeable effect of the large speed brake I’m dragging behind my car lol? I can feel the drag at highway speeds and see the bike being forced rearwards

General Question Getting Kicker Speakers in the UK

Apologies if this has been asked before but I cannot see anything via search specific to the UK.

Upgraded my head-unit from stock to something a bit better but now looking to upgrade the speakers to avoid distortion above a certain volume.

I'll admit, despite working in telecoms with copper wiring, I'm not that keen on doing extra work with adapters and wiring etc. Therefore the Kicker "plug and play" set of speakers are quite appealing.

What isn't so appealing is the cost of them on the only UK site I can find selling them, who themselves do disclose they are shipped from the US. The 4 door speakers are £330 and the tweeters £175 😵‍💫.

I can see them on SubaruOnlineParts.com for less, however when you factor in the $240 shipping cost, it comes out still over £400.

I'm thinking the answer is no, but am I missing an outlet in the UK that sells these, or will they always have to ship from the US. If so, I'm not *that* set on the plug and play option to spend that much.

Heavily considering the GRC....

But a buddy of mine suggested opting for the VB WRX and modding it, including a mechanical LSD (still trying to find the exact part that would fit and if I should do this)

I reckon a lightly used WRX + some decent mods including tires, suspension, tune etc. (I usually do the work myself) would save me a lot compared to the GRC. If I do go down this path, definitely picking up the body coloured fenders to replace the plastics lol.

How do you think the WRX would hold up against the GRC long term?

Thanks guys!

Troubleshooting 2015 Bad Turbo or Head Gasket?

I have a 2015 base with 120k that I've had since '17. Recently I've noticed if I let the car warm up and idle for 15 minutes, it smokes when I drive down the road for a bit. It's a transparent white/blueish smoke that other people have noticed. I had a Subaru master tech do a hydrocarbons test, which it failed twice, so he wants to put a head gasket on it. He also said it's rare for my engine to need a head gasket, so he's concerned it may be the Turbo going bad. Has anyone had this issue? Is there a way to determine if the Turbo is bad?

Glamour Shot I got the supplemental lights working

Yeah, I've been buried under the hood getting the supplemental lights working. The big part is getting it so the supplementals would shut down with the HI-beam stalk. The 2025 is much more tied into the CANBUS system than my previous '11 was. So I had to get some specialty parts. I bought a CanBus reader from CANM8. (actual spelling) They have many options (and I think they can do requests if you have something off the beaten path).

The CanBus reader reads the cars internal CanBus signals and provides an ON/OFF signal. I also have an interrupt switch before the main power relay so I can manually disable them.

Parts are a Morimoto double pod adapter.

Diode Dynamics ditch light frame.

Switch is from RaceCarGoBrrrr

A pair of hella Xtreme 3"

a pair of Baja lighting 2" (I will not go back to Baja because the bolts galvaniclly weld to the aluminum body).

Reddit's photos were being a pain to use. I have a test movie up above.

Photos that I took while putting this together:

Movie with a test bulb to make sure I had wired it correctly:

and I got the photos corrected.

2002 wrx automatic to manual swap

Hi all,

I’ve been having a hard time tracking down a decent 2002-2004 bug eye hatchback for a project car. I found one in decent snap but it’s an automatic, does anyone have a general ballpark figure for what it would cost to swap an automatic to a manual. Many thanks

Camping at a lake off the Oregon Coast. It is so doable in this car, especially with extra storage on the roof

Best seat and harness’ for 2015+ Wrx/Sti?

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m wanting to put new seats in the sti that hold people better since the oem seats kinda blow, I dont want a fixed seat though since i do like let my friends and family use my car so id like something adjustable. I do like the NRG bucket seats since i like the colors but i value safety and the seat being able to move more then a color. Also with Harnesses i don’t know a thing about them but was curious what brands are good and if i need a roll cage

Ebay Front Lips worth it?

How many of yall are running ebay front lips and how have they held up? I have a 2020 STI and I can't justify paying $150+ for a nice lip especially with how bad the roads are in NC. Any recommendations is greatly appreciated 🙏

Hey guys so I'm about to reach 100k on my 2013 hatch and was planning on doing an oil change, timing belt, and water pump. Anything else I should do and what tools am I going to need? All I've got for tools are what I need for an oil change.

General Question Ughh it’s happened…

Yo fam. My baby got lifter tick the other night. She’s completely stock. Now I’ve loved the scars forever and I really don’t want to let her go. I was considering getting a fixed and adding some modifications to turn her into a drifter. Is it worth it?

Looking into getting an sti wing for my bugeye wrx (bought it wingless and the trunk holes from the OEM wrx wing has patching/ plugging done by the previous owner and it isn’t the greatest) I’m curious as to if the ikon wing sags in the middle, and how it does with paint as I’m respraying my entire car in the next couple of months. Thanks!

Need advice on doing the spark plug for cylinder 4

Post image
0 Upvotes

Sorry for the low quality picture, this was the best shot I could get with shoving my phone down between the cylinder head and the frame rail. I've been doing the sparks on my 2013 GR WRX and have been having a devil of a time with it (first time? Yep.) Cylinder 2 came out and went in with no problems when I used a combination of hand tightening followed by a magnetic socket with a swivel joint and extensions. The same cannot be said of cylinder 4: With or without extensions the spark plug was very difficult to remove and took a considerable amount of force; the porcelain on the old plug actually cracked while it was being removed, so I vacuumed the socket to try to remove any debris. I've found the new plug extremely difficult to get in, since it seems to resist hand tightening and while it goes in with extensions it doesn't seem to screw in far enough to get the ignition coil flush with the motor. I'm afraid of applying more force and cracking the porcelain on the new plugs and I'm worried that the socket might have been cross-threaded. Does anyone have any advice?
