DISCUSSION Mail stopped getting delivered because of road condition

My route driver stopped delivering the mail to my road. It’s a dirt road and got stuck one time. My neighbors gets mail but driver stopped delivering to end of road. City won’t pave the road for whatever years in over ten years. What are my options? Driver told me i can put a box at the top of the road but that doesn’t seem secure.

Work Discussion Need Advice Regarding Coworker

Throwaway account. I’m scared of my coworker, they are very mean and I’m afraid to talk to them. I’m fairly new to this office as a transfer. The PM is on vacation and I don’t know when they’ll be back. My coworker says they have an issue with how I respond when they try to explain things to me.

Today a second notice for a package came in from another office and it was IA, I asked my coworker about it and they told me that I needed to “find it.” I had already looked and couldn’t so I tried to ask where it was or what it was. This coworker said “well you gave them this notice so we have it. So find it.” So I began looking and at this point I was a little annoyed because I just wanted it explained to me. I just said “okay I’ll find it.” And then I did end up finding it, the notice didn’t have a name or unit number on it. And then the coworker told me “you didn’t put a name or unit number on it. How were they supposed to know where it goes if you don’t write that on the second notice?” So I said “right. I’ll put that on the second notice.” And I did, then I put it back in their mail. My coworker then came up to me and asked why I always roll my eyes or seem annoyed when they try to explain things to me, so I told them “I just wish you’d explain things to me” and they said “but I did.” And this coworker often blows up on people and it turns into screaming matches, so I became scared and said “you’re right, you did.” And they walked away. I know I should’ve stood up for myself but I was physically shaking, I’ve seen this person scream at people before and they’ve made me cry in the past because I wasn’t remembering the scheme fast enough and they got upset at me for it. I know I should remember the scheme as quickly as possible and I’ve been studying after work at home but at this point it was about a month, and now it’s been two and there’s still some streets I have to think about before remembering. Anyway, after the conversation about explaining things, I said it was around my lunch so I’d clock out and come back at my normal time, but this coworker said “actually, stay for another hour and don’t come back. This isn’t going to work if you roll your eyes at me everytime I explain something to you. Go home this afternoon and think about if you actually want to work here.” Like I said the PM is gone and this coworker was left in charge until he comes back. I was too afraid to say anything and I’m not the type to argue or participate in drama, and I felt like talking to this coworker was useless because they seemed defensive when i brought up my concern, and I’m afraid of being yelled at or berated. I was already on the verge of tears. So I did leave, I told my PM that they sent me home and now I don’t know what to do. I’m afraid to go back, I don’t want to quit but I get so scared thinking about going back. I really like the job but I’m afraid to keep working with this coworker. I know I’m being dramatic but I truly am scared to go back. I was wondering if I should just call in or just quit? Maybe I’m not really cut out for the job, I just don’t know what to do, this coworker also told me that the previous 4 clerks who were hired before me quit because of this coworker, stating that this coworker was “too mean” and “too hard on them”, and that our PM told them that they’d be fired if I quit because of them as well. They also have lots of vacation coming up soon and I’m supposed to cover the office while they’re gone and I’d feel bad about quitting and ruining that, as stated that’s what would happen. I just don’t know what to do I’m extremely frustrated and scared

What do you think the future of the postal police looks like? Is it a mistake to go through this hiring process?

Work Discussion Safety

Could someone please explain to me how or why having AirPods or a listening device in one ear is such a frowned upon offense punishable by being put off the clock? Does everyone just put their phones on speaker or use a speaker throughout the day? Probably what I’ll be doing going forward because I’ll go crazy if they want me to work in complete silence for next 30 something years.

Also with the triple digit heat we’re experiencing around the world, you’re telling me that Safety is more concerned how we cut corners to get out the heat, rather than how to improve our conditions while we’re in the heat. Why would you want to put someone off the clock and make other carriers take on more work and be out in the heat longer just so you can make a point, or exert your dominance. Any one else notice that all of safety looks like they’ve never carried on even touched a piece of mail but have the nerve to tell us that we are being unsafe. You come do this job in this heat for a day, and then you tell me I’m being unsafe. No it’s called I’m trying to get out the heat and get home to my family. Everyone be safe out there, the post office claims they care about us yet we still have carriers passing away in this heat and your worried about us having an earphone in checking on fellow carriers while we are doing our routes everyday. They don’t care about us, that’s just something they say because it sounds good.

City Carrier Discussion Career conversions slowed to a crawl

CCA here about 7 months on. I called the union in late May to get my place in line for conversion and I was #112. I called a little while ago and I am now #107. 5 conversions in 2 months! What gives? Looks like I’m getting the full brunt of 2 years as a CCA.

What really sucks is this my 2nd go around as a CCA. I was hired on back in 2023 and converted to regular after about 8 months as a CCA. I resigned to go backpacking for 6 months and came back, thinking conversion would take about the same amount of time. Win some lose some I guess.

Time to go work on my 8 hour restriction and find a long term hold down on a route.

Rant over

DISCUSSION Pros and Cons

My husband is thinking about applying to be a CCA. I’ve read a few comments on posts on here and from what I’ve read, it’s absolutely terrible (I just joined this group a few minutes ago so haven’t read too much lol). I did a little research and it seems as if there’s good benefits and pay, but some of the comments are a little iffy.

Some additional info: we have a 7 month old and plan on more ankle biters in the future, but we are financially struggling. My husband and I both want me to be a stay at home mom but that isn’t possible with what he makes now. Would a CCA pay enough to be a one income household? We live in a city in NC with around 127k people, with the greater metropolitan area at almost 500k.

Thank you in advance!

Work Discussion USPS regular carrier doing Amazon Flex as a side job — has anyone had issues?

Title: USPS regular carrier doing Amazon Flex as a side job — has anyone had issues?
I’m a regular USPS carrier, and lately overtime has been really low. I know there are rules about outside employment and potential conflicts when working for companies like Amazon, FedEx, UPS, etc.
I’m curious if anyone here has experience with doing Amazon Flex while working for USPS. Has anyone done it for a long time without problems, or has anyone actually gotten in trouble because of it?
I’m not asking whether it’s technically allowed — I understand the conflict issue. I’m just trying to understand the real-world experience and whether people have faced discipline over it.
Also, if anyone has suggestions for side jobs that work well with a rotating USPS schedule and don’t create a conflict, I’d appreciate any ideas. With overtime being down, I’m just trying to find ways to make some extra money on my days off.
Thanks.

Work Discussion Convert me to regular

Been a city PTF for 1 year and 3 months in Minneapolis MN. Really getting sick of the forced over time 10-12 hr shifts every time I work. Anyone else patiently waiting to be converted?

They are also taking away routes at most of the station in the city. Heard that they took away 6 routes in one station. NOT GOOD!

Work Discussion Attendance Review

So they’re doing attendance reviews at my office. I was told my attendance was unacceptable bc I had 4 days missed from 4/1-6/30. I know i only called in 3 times because I can go back and look at my screen shots. Apparently they are counting the actual number of days not occurrences. I’m also being told that if I clock in at 8:01am i am late. So my question is I thought call out go by occurrences not the actual amount of days you call out for, I also was under the impression that there was a 5 min grace period on clocking in. Was I just misinformed this whole time?

Hiring Help Assessments passed, now the wait

Just wanted to pass a thanks to all the info here. I've been trying to plan my escape from healthcare, and have seen garage assistant, maintenance mechanic and VMF clerk* positions open near me and figured its worth the shot to and leave healthcare now. I've taken the 943 and got a 77.3, 710 and got a 77.5, and yesterday the 955 and got 76.8, and have to say all the study prep and advice here was huge.

Now I'm just waiting to hear back on the spots (which seem like good places to be from the threads on here), and hopefully I get one of them. Work as a paramedic used to be enjoyable, but recently I'm burnt out beyond belief along with several of my friends and looking for stability and something way more chill to do as a career.

City Carrier Discussion Postmaster blocked me and sent my last check in mail and said she couldnt give me anymore information on when it’ll arrive

I recently resigned from being a CCA, was not for me and honestly my hats off to all of you doing this kind of work and after what I’m about to tell you honestly astounded how you can all deal with management. So, I had signed up for direct deposit however I was still pretty new so I guess it didn’t go through. When I asked my Postmaster they said it was sent in the mail, it has been 5 days since and yesterday I had gone straight to the office because HR line and Accounting Line were absolutely NO HELP and Postmaster phone was going straight to Voicemail. When I confronted my postmaster in person they said they could not search up tracking, they just sent it in the mail. They then denied me that they couldn’t sign a form for emergency salary, and basically said they took me out of the system and blocked my number because I’m no longer an employee. I’m hoping that it comes today but if not then they said I could only file a complaint after 30 days. If anyone could give me advice on this I’d really appreciate it. Again I understand I am an ex employee but I’m kind of at a loss for words on this and don’t know what I should do next.

Thank you all for any and all advice.

DISCUSSION I really don’t get how they expect RCAs to survive - rant

Been working as a RCA for about 3 years now and I really enjoy the job but I don’t get how upper management expects RCAs afford to survive. When I first started I caught on pretty quick basically all of the other subs at my office have a second job to help make ends meet because of the lack of hours. I have a second job I work at, and I’m usually able to still work my scheduled Saturday and any other coverage days if I have a small amount of notice.

Lately my acting postmaster has been coming down hard on us subs for having a second job and now we’re being told we are required to have full availability on both Sundays and Mondays, even if we aren’t needed.

Not really sure how much longer I’ll be able to stay with the company. The PO doesn’t guarantee me enough hours/pay to justify me staying at home hoping to be called in.

77 year-old #GailGiustino allegedly collected feral cats along her postal route. After she reportedly refused to cooperate with animal control, deputies obtained a search warrant and discovered the home had no working air conditioning or ventilation, temperatures above 110 degrees, and floors covered in animal waste.
Officials said the woman had recently surrendered about 15 animals in an apparent attempt to reduce the number on the property before the search.
She was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and confinement of animals without sufficient exercise. Her bond was set at $50,000 The rescued animals are now being evaluated.

Rural Carrier Discussion Workman’s comp is an absolute nightmare. USPS is an absolute nightmare. My life is a nightmare right now.

So I got hit by a car (I was in my car but it was a direct t-bone to my door I was behind). It was really bad. Traumatic to say the very least.

I got a concussion, elbow is all messed up, entire body is scratched and bruised, and my POV is totalled. The post office helped me 0%. No one knew what to do or where to go or what I had to fill out.

Got into contact with the union and played phone tag with them on how to fill out all this shit you have to fill out for the department of labor and USPS to lift a pinky finger to help you at all or give you any time to heal. Meanwhile I still have a concussion and I am suffering and all I can do is cry, be in pain, and cry more.. and get texts from people asking me when I’ll be ready to deliver more mail.

I went to an urgent care, and because they didn’t have the case number or whatever the hell, USPS would not authorize me to be seen because I guess they have to authorize it so that it’s official or whatever. So I ended up having to be seen on my own and now I am responsible for the bill at this urgent care (only place I could get into any time soon) if workers comp doesn’t help me because they could deny it of something.

Played phone tag again with some workers comp guy. He goes on lunch so I had to sit in the urgent care waiting room until he was back and then he called me back. Meanwhile… STILL IN PAIN. Just sitting there in tears feeling stupid.

He told me I could go and be seen without the case number or whatever but then the urgent care was like “no we can’t do that because USPS didn’t authorize it” so then I call him again. Back and forth back and forth. I gave up and like I said.. went on my own. Me myself and I, and my personal insurance can’t help either since it happened at work (that’s what the urgent care said).

Long story and a lot of anxiety, pain, severe depression, and phone tag later… I am seen and I am told I have a concussion (well yeah..) and that my arm is swollen and messed up and that I will be stiff and in pain for quite some time. They gave me something to help a little bit and sent me home.

It took hours to get these people to help me or to know what to do. My postmaster as about as helpful as a bag of hammers. No one else at my small office knew how to help or anything. No one did the paperwork they were supposed to do, and no one seems to know how or when to do anything so it all falls on me, the concussed one, to figure it out which makes my head hurt that much worse.

I’ve just had it. Like I don’t even know if it’s worth sticking around and trying to get another vehicle that the post office will not help me get cause it’s a POV office. One of the carriers texted me telling me I might as well just leave and that the job isn’t for me and to “take it as a sign”. Right after my crash I get that message. What the actual fuck is wrong with people? I had a door crush into me at 60mph and I should be a lot more broken than I already am.. and then someone does that? WTF? I’m just so done.

I am not shocked. It’s the government. But this is the biggest shit show I’ve ever seen. They might as well have shoved a clipboard in my hand while I lay on the grass next to my car and asked me to give them a “statement”.

I’m so broken, physically, emotionally.. I don’t know what to do. My car is done. That was my only car. I don’t have money for another car. I don’t know what to do anymore. I don’t even know why I’m here typing this at all. Probably should just delete it.

P.S. I was found at fault because I was delivering and trying to cross the road to safety when this big truck came flying down the road going at least 60+. At least.. from the damage. My car crumpled like a tin can. I didn’t even see the truck before it hit me. I looked and there was no one there but it doesn’t even matter. I was in the way. It was my fault. I should have not tried to cross there. I should have known someone could be speeding and I’d never see them come over the hill. The hill was just tall enough to cover one car.

DISCUSSION Hard job but good job!

I’m 3 months in as a cca and I’m so proud of the progress I’ve made. This is by FAR the most challenging job I’ve ever had to learn and it’s so satisfying to see myself actually make progress and push forward. 3 months ago I could barely hold a stack of dps and now I’ve serviced thousands of houses across 6 routes at my office and have even helped a new cca learn the small route I learned on. It’s encouraging to see myself get just a little bit better every day!

I start academy this Friday! It’s now all starting to feel real.

If you told me back in January I was going to be a mail man, I’d probably laugh. Here we are, foot in the door, ready to go on routes.

Life feels good. I quit drinking 10 months and 2 days ago. Life has been really rewarding in terms of having a clear path of where I want to be and how to get to it. Also, realizing the people I want and don’t want around me.

Cheers my fellow couriers clerks and others!

City Carrier Discussion It’s been a long road but I’m in!

Post image

It’s been quite the journey to get in. I first applied and accepted a position in Dec 2025. In January 2026 I was deemed unsuitable due to a prior felony drug conviction (convicted dec 2018). However I appealed. I had a reference letter written by my old boss and also turned in all court documents from my conviction. In April 2026 after almost 100 days I got my unsuitability reversed. Fast forward to last week I finally got an offer and the offer was from the closest office to my house (2 miles).

I’m excited to finally get out of family events and no social life!

Also s/o to the ones on reddit who told me I had no chance on my appeal. Thank you for the jinx 🤞
