I live near the Metro station in College Park, and I've been wondering how other residents feel about safety in the area.
About two months ago, someone tried to steal my wife's car. Then last week, the windows of my car and several other residents' cars were smashed. Some cars on the street where I live were also broken into.
I know car break-ins and theft can happen anywhere, but I've started wondering whether this is a particular problem in College Park, especially around the Metro station. Does crime tend to get worse during the summer when students are away, or is that not really a factor?
For people who have lived in College Park for a while, how do you feel about the safety situation? Are there particular areas or times when you are more cautious? I would especially appreciate perspectives from people who live near the Metro station or have been in the area for several years.
Thanks!
