Discussion Is it ok for me to wear a rainbow bracelet?

For context;

I’m a straight male, married, and work with my wife. We are a wedding photographer and videographer duo and work all kinds oweddings (which involves a lot of interacting with strangers).

Is it okay to wear a rainbow bracelet to these events to show that i’m safe/an ally?

Or even I could wear it all the time, I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♂️

I guess I want to check how this would come across to the lgbtq+ community.

I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Advice or help needed LGBT+ In Jobs

Hey gays,

More specifically aimed at girlies and non-men centred individuals. What do you all DO for a living?

Every job I go to is just full of straight people, “straight gays” (they call themselves the “normal” gays (ick)) and/or right-wingers. This would be fine if I didn’t spend half of my life at work. I cannot stand the facade I have to put on to fit in and not come across anti-social.

Maybe I am chronically online but I need a workplace where I’m not told daily devastating stories of misogyny and VAWAG but the plot twist is that the perpetrator is your boyfriend who “treats you like a princess!”. I need to be around people who don’t think everyone who receives benefits is a scrounging leech.

Where are all the gays and if you all work from home, HOW?!

Please advise…

Advice or help needed Finding Community

TLDR: I’m looking for safe queer communities/spaces in and around the south Birmingham area to find out more about and explore ideas about my gender expression.

Hi,

My therapist has suggested that I try and find and engage in local queer communities to try and not only be more socially active, but also they believe it will be helpful to me in exploring my gender identity. For a while now I have had thoughts that I may be trans, but in the past year I have become more certain that this is right for me, doing stuff like experimenting with clothes and makeup and the like has really made me realise that this is more than I’d originally put any thought into.

I’m wondering if anybody on here would be open to talking about this stuff or have any suggestions of spaces and places that are safe and open to explore and discuss things like this.

Im also not very sure if posts like this are the ‘done thing’ here, I don’t use reddit too much so please forgive me if I’m doing it wrong XD.

Thanks <3.

Advice or help needed Building a UK LGBTQ+ dating/social app, launching at Manchester Pride: looking for honest feedback

Hey all, I'm the solo founder/dev behind Klyck, a UK-based LGBTQ+ social, dating, and safety app. We're launching properly at Manchester Pride, but the app isn't fully public yet. It's in a soft/invite stage right now while I iron things out.

I'd genuinely love some outside eyes on it before the wider launch. If you want to poke around, you can get in with the invite code REDDIT.

A bit of context on why I'm building it:

  • MeetSafe: check-in timers and trusted contact alerts for dates/meetups, always free, never paywalled
  • Kudos: a community reputation system aimed at cutting down on bots, fakes, and bad actors
  • Venue discovery: surfacing LGBTQ+ friendly bars/venues (starting with Canal Street in Manchester)
  • Real-time chat, profiles, the usual dating-app basics
  • A premium tier, but nothing safety-related sits behind it

What I'd love feedback on:

  1. Design/UX: does it feel clean, confusing, dated, promising?
  2. Features: what's missing, what's pointless, what would actually make you use it
  3. The honest question: would this get you to use something other than Grindr, or is the switching cost just not worth it for you? Why or why not?

I'm not trying to sell anything here, genuinely just want blunt feedback, including "this is bad and here's why." Bug reports, screenshots, roasts, all welcome.

Thanks for reading this far 🙏

(Invite code: REDDIT. UK-based, iOS only at the moment)
