Hi, I'm a middle-aged trans man from Finland. I've booked a holiday travelling in various locations in the UK next month, but now I read a press release advising trans people not to travel to the UK at all. We've alreaydy booked everything and spent a lot of money. How real is the threat?
For context: I'm white and in my 40s. I pass pretty much 100% of the time and have had genital surgery. I'm probably visibly queer but not visibly trans. My passport and other documents say M. I'm travelling with a cis woman. i'm not planning to have sex with anyone, but definitely not without telling I'm trans. Also not planning to commit any crimes...
I feel like I'd be pretty safe from most dangers about the new transphobic legislation. But is there some hidden catch that could get me clocked as trans by officials / harassers? Some danger I'm not taking into account?
EDIT Thank you for all the quick and informative answers! No one touched on entering the country yet - I understand from news that in theory, my legal gender would be forever and always female in the UK, no matter what my passport says. But there is no way for them to actually check that, is there? And even if there is, would it be a problem on the border?

Is anyone else finding it super hard to get a job? I know the job market is tough at the moment, but interviews have a strange energy now... I literally see people's faces drop when I walk in. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid

Hi, I just had an appointment regarding my last hormonal check up. During this the doctor needed to explain to me some of the differences between hormone levels in cis women vs trans women. I obviously have no issue with this an appreciate the information however she did this by calling cis women “normal women” and trans women simply “trans women” I actually had to correct her. I’m in my 5th year of hormones and have literally never had this experience from anyone. Is there a process I can go down to complain about this? I found the implication that she was normal and I was abnormal deeply offensive and dehumanising.

Hi chat
I know the US is very not safe to travel to at the moment, but I found out a friend of mine might have a serious illness and I'm worried they might not have much time left. If that turns out to be the case, I want to see them one last time.
we were originally planning a trip for them to come here but had to cancel at short notice because of the illness.
I know to fly via Dublin (or Toronto) for TSA pre-check so I don't get disappeared if the border officer isn't having a good day, and instead just get turned around back into the UK (or Canada if flying via Toronto)
I have previously visited the US on an updated passport only. This passport has my current name and correct gender marker. I have never visited the US with a pre-transition passport
I cis pass and I'm post-op, and can get away with skipping my HRT for a few days to avoid declaration
I have never had any issues at the US border previously
-----------------------------------
Do you have any advice on this, does anyone have any experience entering the US in the same way I have done previously

Hey everyone! I haven’t started hrt yet so I only really go girl mode in my home. I’m aware of the 5 o clock shadow but other than that do you reckon I’d get clocked if I went out? If anyone has any tips or advice it would be greatly appreciated <3

I didn't choose to be like this and everything I see about me or us is negative and I have so much to say but I don't have any energy to. I'm so scared I feel so hopeless and just completely broken.r

Hi
Long term subscriber to GenderGP (3 years plus)
While I appreciate the founder who does some great activism towards trans people, I must share conversations had with two ex members who worked under GenderGP
The only doctor you speak to who prescribes HRT is in Kenya, and is somehow responsible for reviewing bloods and prescriptions. Kenya does not have trans healthcare even close to the UK.
I have spoken with this doctor myself paying about £80 per call, he was often confusing and did have a thick accent, but I thought nothing of it at the time. I thought he was a UK based doctor.
GenderGp’s team are very very small now. They’ve tried to use AI everywhere but unfortunately it’s not up to standard and is often broken.
There is no Endocrinologist looking at patients, not even one who uses AI to try and help manage the high customer numbers
While I appreciate that they have made it easy for some trans people including myself, to gain access to HRT at somewhat affordable prices, this shouldn’t give them the right to provide such a poor and quite frankly dangerous service.
It wasn’t until I moved providers (I will not name), that I realised how inconsistent they have been with dosing. I started on gel, patches, then added finesteride, then added spiro, then told to do 200mcg mono, then back down to 150mcg with spiro…then told I don’t need finesteride as a blocker would stop DHT..
Inconsistent levels like this aren’t exactly healthy or supportive of your transition goals
Use with caution my fellow trans brothers and sisters!!

Hello! Quick question. I’m ftm, 25, been on the nhs waiting list for eight years… but theyve finally emailed to say im at the top of their list! So, I had to fill out this 15 page form talking about like… my whole life, tbh.
One thing that’s concerning me is they asked about goals - I already know my bmi is going to probably be a barrier for surgery.
But I can’t seem to find any info on if low BMI (14, to be specific) might be a barrier to starting testosterone.
It’s due to anorexia, and I’m with the eating disorder team. They’ve already noted my ed is linked heavily to dysphoria.
My bloodwork and ecgs are always fine, so I guess that works in my favour

Hi, hope this is allowed. I'm 30 ish FTM in long term relationship (8years). My partner is a cis male. We had a happy family for many years, he knew me before I transitioned and been always nothing but supportive. Couple of months ago he admitted to having an affair with a cis female at work. It turned out he started seeing her at about time I started T. It's been ongoing for two years. Now it's over and he's been regretting ever starting this relationship. He's trying really hard to re commit to our relationship and make it up to me. But... I can't get over the feeling that my treatment was a trigger for him and I blame myself for ruining what we had. I even thought about detransitioning but that would break me. I'm in a pit of self hate and despair. How do I cope with this? How to not hate my body and brain even more than before?

I just wanted to tell the GIC that my name was legally changed but I am not on their records, apparently. The GP responded with that but I don't know if that means I was actually referred or not.

Hi just want to ask so I'm on one pump of gel (testavan) I have been almost 5 weeks (so far no changes I've noticed at all th) I know it's still very early on. However being that I'm only on one pump did anyone still experience changes on one pump should I be noticing any changes 5 weeks in almost?
However I want to increase two 2 pumps but will they let me? It's just a start dose I think and they said that's what they like to start on and my next review would be 6 months I deffo dont want to wait until then to increase, but at what stage is it ok to ask or request if I can increase? Will they let me?
Thanks

In short, the BBC refused to call London Trans+ Pride a protest, instead calling it a celebration.
In addition, I would like to note that - when I cover Trans+ Prides for What The Trans?!, I consider them protests, and call them protests in order to remain fair and impartial.

Hey! I am moving to London in September, coming from Romania, and I was wondering if someone could explain what is the situation with public single sex spaces? I am a bit confused by all the media and I am not sure what is true and what isn't. Can we still use the women's restroom if we don't cause problems or are we banned from using them at all? What would happen if someone did "clock me" in the women's bathroom...would I be arrested or...? What are the consequences?
