I need some insight

Upvotes

Hi I alredy posted in this sub like 2 months ago about they fear of developing schizophrenia or psychosis

After sometimes time the fear dissapeared because my OCD made me fear about other things an alot of the "symptoms" I had disappeared

I Just wanted to say some things here.Is schizophrenia or psychosis something that can not have symptoms for a long time or It is something that is progressive without the meds

Can a delusion dissapear or it is progressive too?

Thx guys for all the comments in the last posts trying to reassure and explaining me that this is just anxiety and obssesive thoughts.I just want to post this last time because of these doubts.

Have a nice day and I Hope the best for you all

Remember this is going to get better and take your meds.

Also what is when the ground begins to ripple like waves. Is this a hallucination or can It be vertigo?

My friend is deep in a paranoid episode…he could become a danger to others…he’s traveling around the country under pseudonyms…and I am the only person he trusts enough to keep contact with. What do I do, here?

My friend is a 42 y/o male with a history of drug abuse. His psychosis is likely meth induced, whether it has cause paranoid schizophrenia or just brought it out, idk, but that’s the closest comparison I can make.

He believes he was kidnapped at birth and his “real” family is after him. Believes they’ve killed his children and are storing the meat in his fake family members’ freezers. He thinks people on the bus are following him and there are cars and helicopters…it’s the whole thing.

He asked me to get him a bus ticket. He’s somehow ended up several states away. He was just around home a couple nights ago.

He is highly intelligent, highly uneducated, and…like me, 6’, muscular (we’re both concrete finishers). He’s been in and out of the system, a capable fighter, and typically carries a knife (though I didn’t see one on him the other night, so maybe he lost it again).

I’m worried about him, and just as worried for anyone he finds suspicious. I am the only person he’s willing to contact anymore, who’s willing to engage with him (I won’t sell ya the hooker with a heart of gold; he’s a meth addict, so I’m sure he’s been a nightmare for his immediate family).

If I notify police, I’m very concerned about how that will turn out. What can I do to help him?!?

Psychosis as crazy manifestation power instead of mental illness

What if we tap into some psychic power and then we get scared of it and brain starts trying to explain it (demons, aliens, all kinds of theories). The brain goes to these theories because it doesnt understand what is this "power" and then under the influence of fear we go crazy.

Maybe psychic is not a good word, but instead manifestation power would be a better term. Like you think demons are doing this to you and you see "confirmations" of it because you believe it and manifest the signs of it.

At the moment i thoughts christianity is a real thing i saw a 666 car registration go next to my car and a guy came out of some yard showing me a cross sign with his fingers and saying "no". Psychotic or not, that happened. So i am questioning everything now.

For a long time i have blamed God

I kept thinking, how can't we have a healthy mind? Why those things have to happen with us?

While i keep seeing my friends growing and having a life, i have to be careful in order to not have a crisis.

It is not fair.

Anyways, just wanted to vent and hear your stories as well. Life shouldn't be so hard and our mental health should be stable.

Irreversible Tics

I had a strong manic weed-induced psychosis episode back in April and have ever since had strong 'tics' making my eye blink, my head turn and my stomach pulse. It's draining my soul and energy from doing simple tasks and holding a job. Has anyone had similar experiences, and did y'all tics disappear?

I'm a 27M on anti-psychotics (Rxulti) and anti-depressive medicine. The tics started before taking medication. Please help!

Am i being psychosis or anything?

(20 male English is not my first language)

Hi since yesterday I'm obsessed with my data and how gouvernement is treating it , I'm feeling like I'm being watch , every move every message and I hate that , I go on all my social media and get rid of some authorized things who seems to me like spy.

It's like everything I do is being watched and if I talk to someone they will believe I'm crazy or don't believe me , I told my friends to do the same (delete authorization) and for now to talk to me on another device than social media.

I don't know if something wrong with me but I'm aware it's maybe not normal so it's maybe not such a big deal ?? Idk

When I was younger and even in past I had those thru that I'm being watch , I use to look for minutes to some "camera" I had in my room , it's take me months to make sure one black round isn't a camera in my logement. Even if deep down I know it idk I was in doubt.

Like my neighbors, Im scared to see them because I have the feeling they want to make me leave the logement I'm on , I tried to go out when I don't here anyone outside (my neighbors)

All that's but deep down I know it's surely fake , one of my friend told me that it's juste derealization (BCS I told him one day I have feeling that everyone is fake and BCS I'm aware it's not true it's derealization) idk

Things feel off those days I want to talk about it to friends but not online , irl

Edit : there other exemple now that I thinks about it , I close my window store (idk if it's the right word) and be in dark when I'm at my house BCS idk there is a scary through that someone will watch me from my window, some day I don't have those trough some day they are strong and when I dream about those , idk if it's reality or just dream it's very ..strange ?

I'm stress to post this message here btw

Thanks anyway

How do I forgive my parents for neglecting clear signs of my psychosis?

Recently gained insight after on and off psychosis for 3/4 years starting when in my mid teens. Started off with classic persecutory delusions (People stalking me, people reading my thoughts, people being paid actors, hearing people talking about wanting to kill me, etc) and eventually morphed into ones of delusions of grandeurs.

I showed clear signs of total social withdrawal, collapsing academic achievement, self harm, suicidal intent, inconstant hygiene, lack of motivation, difficulties talking to people and with reading due to my racing thought’s. At one point I carved a cross into my wall and ocassinaly when my paranoia about my parents was at its lowest tried to inform my parents of my delusions. I would cycle between episodes of recovery and relapse.

My parents just disregarded my symptoms as classic teenage behaviour and later as a “touch of the tism” or sometimes “overthinking you get from me”

The reason why im so angry now though is that so many of my delusions made me both a threat to my self and others. With my persecutory delusion I believed the only way to prove to the group stalking me that I was innocent was to stage my own suicide publicly.

My delusions of grandeurs involved me adopting extreme political and philosophical opinions which borderlined on the fantastical. I began to develop eloberate and violent plans to install and promote my beliefs. Fortunately I entered a stage of recovery before I was able to attempt them. The last of these episodes was maybe about a year ago? Since then ive had delusions and rare hallucinations but not to the same worrying level.

Im now in a period of recovery where I’m able to break down these beliefs and realise that they are irrational even if they do still to some extent true. Ive immediately referred myself to a EIP and im desperately trying to get a diagnosis and medication before I relapse again, out of fears that now that im a adult that I would be able to carry out my delusions.

The question im sort of asking after all of this is how do I forgive my parents for neglecting clear constant signs of my psychosis, when I was potentially a threat not only to myself but to others?

Can’t enjoy anything

Does anyone have debilitating anhedonia where you can’t enjoy ONE THING? I stare at the tv and it feels like I’m watching literally nothing. Pure hell. It’s been 8 months since my last episode. I’ve had 8 episodes since 2015.

Anyone else have this?

Does anyone else only get visual hallucinations when they close their eyes? Mine are really vivid and play like little movies, and they're almost always evil, disturbing, or scary. When my eyes are open I don't really see anything, but as soon as I close them the images start. I'm just wondering if anyone else deals with this and if anything has helped make it better.

I think psychosis is actually making sense now???

I was thinking about how terrible it is to have such a blank mind when my thoughts used to have so much life and depth and I was actually pretty bright. And then I thought, Isn't this kind of common in psychosis? And then I recounted the other negative symptoms again, and I was like, Oh. What if they weren't inserting the idea that I'm psychotic into my psychiatrist's mind, and people were telling me I was in psychosis not because there was a higher power telling them I was, and rather, because I actually AM psychotic. Like idk the symptoms make sense and I got prescribed meds for the second time 🤡

Yeah well idk my brain is pushing back on this idea and maybe my thoughts are being manipulated again to make me believe im psychotic idk I still can't agree with my psychiatrist because he thinks I have schizophrenia. And I can't agree that I'm delusional. But. What if?

Can’t comprehend psychosis

Have been making a lot of posts in the schizophrenia sub lately so I’ll make one here to give them a break. I just can’t wrap my mind around the idea of psychosis anymore. How could I have spent over a decade of my life thinking that: people are persecuting me, filming me, sending me telepathic messages, that the world is giving me signs, that I’m taking to entities, the list goes on and on. I just can’t comprehend it. I’m disturbed by it and can’t think about anything else. I’m obsessed about psychosis. I can’t understand it. How does one move on from this? I’m rethinking my life and it’s making no sense. Most of my life makes no sense. No one talks about how you feel after getting out of psychosis. I may be normal now but how does one reconcile their years of psychosis with their current “normal” self? I’m having a hard time accepting everything.

Am I just mildly psychotic for almost 20 years?

Hi there,

I have a fear that one random non-specific stranger is obsessed with making me miserable. Messing with me by coming into my home and doing things to my belongings, food, supplements etc. This has been a huge fear of mine for almost 20 years. The thing is, 90 % or more I’d say of the time if I really think about it and break it down, I can at least somewhat get behind the fact that this is something in my head. I also usually feel better after self-reassurance and reassurance from others that this is not true and if I fight them on it, I deep down want them to be right rather than am convinced I am correct about my fears. Every now and then if I come across something I cannot explain that really sketches me out, I will become so upset and depressed that “it’s actually happening all along” but inevitably come back down to Earth within a couple of days. I have always been told I have OCD by my parents and most mental health professionals and it makes sense aside from the fact that I have never come across anyone with OCD who is obsessed with the fear of a persecutor. Weed can help me in the moment but in the long run doesn’t help but the clarity I can usually get while high also doesn’t seem to suggest psychosis? Basically, can anyone relate to the way this paranoia manifests or does my presence of insight for this long without ever fully tipping over suggest another mental health issue such as OCD?

Thank you!!!!

Partner went into psychosis - what should I do?

About 3 months ago, my fiance (Male / 33 years old) went into psychosis. He woke up and starting having delusions, and they were all about me, all centering around me being some sort of sexual abuser/ porn star / out to get him. He eventually broke up with me after about 1 month of symptoms. This all happened two months after he proposed.

Now, on his good days, he wants to get back together. I moved out after he dumped me. He was truly awful to me. Blackmail, threats that he would "expose me". There was also an obsession with my sister, he keeps saying that she was his best friend, and he is so sad to have lost her.  She blocked him and won't talk to him because of how he treated me.

Now that is has been three months, he has calmed down, but still has flares of believing crazy things about me. One week he is so sad that he lost me, and the next he is conviced I am bad, the reasons vary.

We were together for 8 years, and had a good relationship. Not perfect, but our small issues turned massive to him overnight when he got sick.  He reframed the breakup as "we weren't happy."  I was happy, he was happy. He can't seem to acknowldge that he was having delusions.  He is now calling them "panic attacks." He said he did all this because he "didn't know who he was." He started seeing a psych and therapist, and they put him on wellbutrin, which I think is the wrong medication. They keep upping his dose.  They also put him on vyvance for his ADHD.  He used to take adderall until last year he abused it, and I think that was the first small psychosis episode. At the time, I didn't realize that was what it was, and it was not as defined as this second one.

The doctor originally thought it was weed induced psychosis. He never let me talk to the doctor to tell him my side of things, and I know there are events that happened that he doesn’t remember, or won’t let himself remember.

I just don't know what to do. I don't want to throw out an 8 year relationship because he got sick, but he was just so awful to me.  Breaking up with me 2 months after getting engaged is also the exact opposite of what marriage is to me. But he is so sad, I am so sad, but I know he is not healthy yet and not fully looking at his mental problem head on.  Now he wants me to move back in.

What do I do?? Has anyone had experience with their partner going into psychosis and having delusions about them? Is healing possible?

I told him we had to start couples therapy, and let me talk to his psychiatrist. he wouldn’t do either because he didn’t trust me at the time. I set a boundary and said I won’t rebuild our relationship without those two things, but he hasn’t made them happen. He goes on and on about how he is better, but then will have an episode. I don't think he has told his medical team everything, otherwise why would he be on wellbutrin?

Psychosis Induced Auditory Hallucinations/Delusions

Hey guys 27(Ftm) here. Ive suffered several bouts of psycosis. First one was in 2019 and it was drug induced during an overdose attempt.

The second one which was worse was late 2022. I was taken cold turkey off a high dose of steroids(Prednisone) after being on it for almost 2 months straight while being diagnosed with a severe condition called Lupus.

Anytime I went above 20mg a day/5 days a week of Prednisone the delusions and Hallucinations would start. Id start seeing lights or shadows outside my windows, id hear people whispering outside my door or windows, i was completely convinced my partner of many years was cheating on me with this girl, and that he and her would call behind my back and talk about how awful I am.

Then in 2023/2024 I was taking Gabapentin for nerve damage in my legs. And during that I had a flare up and needed a low dose of Prednisone. If I could go back and never take those meds again I would. Id do every painful day over again if it meant this wouldnt happen.

Needless to say the two meds Together sent me into a multiple day spiral of Hallucinations and Full scale delusions. I was convinced he was only staying so he didnt look like rhe asshole leaving his sick partner. I was convinced I was gonna get fired from my job because my foot was in a brace(Stress fracture in toe), I was convinced my mom or partner were gonna decide i wasnt sane enough to take care of myself and take away my autonomy.

I was having panic attacks over this stuff. Crippling, hunched over hyperventilating panic attacks. I almost checked myself into a psychiatric hospital on my birthday two years ago. On my birthday.

Instead i went to my psychiatrist and explained it all and she put me on abilify. And for a whilw it helped. The voices become whispers I couldnt make out, I stopped entertaining them, they didnt make sense to me.

But over the last say couple months its like those voices are louder than ever. They cruelly whisper every last time thing that bothers me or insecure about and critics every last thing i do.

Simple things like snoozing my alarm turns into hearing "Hes so fucking lazy. Hes gonna be late to work again because he cant drag himself out of bed."

Not wanting to cuddle with my partner cause its 105F degrees out turns into "its obvious he doesnt actually love his partner. Hes selfish and lazy"

I could go on and on. These voices are nonstop. Within minutes of my mind waking up in the morning to me hearing it ubtil I fall asleep late at night. At work, at home, at the store. Whether im home alone or with my partner. In a room full of people ane loud noise I hear them.

The two voices are one that mimicks my partners voice and the orher that is an angry irritated female that is my partners "Girlfriend" that hes seeing behind my back.

(Id like to preface that ive gotten proof its not him and this girl voice is not an actual person. He is not cheating on me legitimately. Its just what my paranoid brain has decided)

I hear them worse when im overheating/Having a Lupus flare up. Both of these cause inflammation to build in my brain and which causes my episodes now. Its summer time in Central US and its been over 100 this week and the voices have been so so loud and cruel.

Im gonna be starting services this friday(7/24) for Therapy and Psychiatry but other than that does anyone have any tips on how to idk block out these voices and keep myself grounded in reality. Ive tried recording these sounds and my brain warps the white noise into something different every time I listen to it so i dont trust it anymore. Ive even sent these audio clips to a friend who confirmed she heard nothing.

Ill take any help or advice I can get please. Thanks for your time.

Sleep-deprivation-triggered psychosis, severe cognitive crash afterward, still trying to figure out where I stand — anyone been through similar?

Long post, but I want to lay out the timeline properly.

I was on an SSRI for 2 years with no manic episodes at all. When I stopped it, my depression came back, and by last summer I was dealing with real cognitive problems — trouble concentrating, memory issues, difficulty finding words.

Then, out of nowhere and without any medication change, I started feeling genuinely good. I had a very fixed daily routine during this period. It lasted about 3-4 months.

At some point I decided I could get by on less sleep — around 5 hours a night, thinking I just didn’t need more. Not long after, I was thrown into a full psychosis episode. After that, I crashed cognitively in a way I’m still not fully back from. Before this I was a law student fluent in multiple languages; after the psychosis, I could barely form sentences even in my native language.

I stayed unmedicated for about 2 months afterward, hoping the fog would just lift on its own. It didn’t. I eventually went back to the psychiatrist who’d originally prescribed my SSRI. He restarted me on fluoxetine and added olanzapine. One dose of olanzapine knocked me out for two straight days, so I stopped it and told him. His response was that since I’d done well on fluoxetine before, we’d just stick with that — I’ve now been on fluoxetine 40mg for about 3 months.

Where I’m at now: better than right after the psychosis, but nowhere near my old baseline. Some days I feel genuinely good, other days just meh/foggy.

I have a psychiatrist appointment tomorrow. Has anyone else dealt with psychosis triggered specifically by sleep deprivation, and the cognitive aftermath that followed? How did treatment end up shifting for you, and did the cognitive fog ever fully resolve?

Need help detaching from a hyperfixation

Unsure if this belongs here I posted a similar message in the autism subreddit but i have gained a new hyperfixation. The problem is i am on the brink of an episode and i can feel this movie triggering it. My body is starting to go in and out of auto pilot and all i can think about is this movie when im not stressed w work and other shit. How do I detach myself from this movie before I get worse??? All i do is consume content about it or around it and I'm obsessed with the main character and fighting this off is so hard. Due to an incident I am between therapists so it'll probably be a few weeks before I can see a professional again.
