Repair Help Nintendo switch 2 picture messed up when docked?

Hey guys I’m not sure what to do lol. I was playing games just fine a few hours ago. I turn the switch back on and the only way I can describe it is that it’s evil. I’ve changed the HDMI, tried other hdmi ports. Restarted the console. It’s fine in handheld mode. Do we have any idea what this could be???

Accessories Better joycon grip for Switch 2 docked mode

I hate how the grip that came with my Switch 2 isn’t perfectly round at the handles because the Switch 2 joycons have to slide in from the sides rather than the top (see pictures for the difference between Switch 2 and Switch 1).

Is there any third party alternative that has the rounded handles like the Switch 1 did?

Account Help Is there any way to prove an old switch was mine?

Ive recently reached out to friend to get back a few games i loaned to her kids years ago. While we were chatting she asked if i wanted my switch back too. I said, i dont think i gave you a switch?, I have three sitting here in front of me and i can’t for the life of me, remember having owned 4 of them! But the more we chatted a memory came back of having a switch with the brightly coloured controllers. I thought, huh, maybe we did buy 4? We have the pokemon switch, a normal oled, and a Zelda switch.

Anyways. I picked the games up and the switch.

A little later she texted to let me know that her son said the switch was given to him by his cousin. I said, oh if thats the case then ya, take the switch back!

Now, i actually don’t care if it was in fact mine to begin with. I really just wanted the games back. But, i would like to figure out if it actually was mine. For no other reason than my curiosity.

Repair Help New Switch 2 won’t turn on at all after forcing shut down

I’ve had my new Switch 2 for less than a week. I was playing with my cat in my lap, she rubbed her face against the bottom of the switch, and the screen suddenly went to an error message saying that the Switch needed to be restarted.

I was an idiot and didn’t snap a picture of the error message with the troubleshooting QR code. Instead, I tried restarting it, but it wouldn’t restart. I forced a shut down, and now it will not turn back on at all. I have tried the hard reset, removed the adapter and let it sit, let it charge, etc. I’ve done everything Google recommends, and absolutely nothing is working. I would prefer to get this machine working instead of having to return this for a new one.

If anyone has any ideas or advice, please let me know. I’m so frustrated with this stupid gaming console absolutely bricking after less than a week of owning it.

Setup Help Safe to upgrade OG Switch to an OLED without losing save files?

I have the very first Switch. When I met my partner, he had an OLED Switch. Of course we will have a Switch 2 in the future, but in the meantime, we'd like to stop using the old Switch and transfer everything I have over to his OLED. This way whenever we get the Switch 2 we will both have a console, and we can clear up some space on the TV stand.

The three things that are probably important are:

  1. My Switch has a very important Pokemon Shield save file under my account with shiny mons! I caught them myself and do not want to lose them.

  2. Most of my games are digital, on a 1 TB memory card.

  3. I do not currently have NSO, but if it would help safely transfer everything I would definitely invest in it. (I have had it in the past and enjoyed it, but I didn't renew because I'm too busy to use it.)

I am thinking we will basically factory reset the OLED and then transfer my account stuff over to it. My partner only had 3 games on it which I already own, so nothing would be lost. I want to confirm I can safely transfer my save files and games over without losing my shiny save file.

Account Help Is there a way of preventing game deletion - accidentally or otherwise?

I recently purchased a Switch 2 for the whole family to use. My youngest child is autistic and struggles with the concept of sharing - to a point when he is playing on the console he deletes games which aren't "his". This is frustrating for everyone else who has to re-download their games when it's their turn to use it.

Can anyone advise if there is a way to either:

a) prevent online game deletion by way of a password lock or some other means?

b) have certain downloaded games only appear on certain profiles?

I've got the parental controls app but struggling to navigate and online instructions are not helping much

Setup Help Parental controls extend time doesn't work most of the time

When I try to extend time on the app, it often doesn't work on my Switch 2. The Mario icon just goes forever and then eventually errors out. It seems to usually happen right when it tries to wake up from sleep after not playing for a while. Is there some setting that needs to be setup for it to work consistently? It works just once in a while.

Repair Help Can anyone tell me what this is?

I have just noticed a mark on my screen which I thought was a spec of dust under my screen protector so I replaced it however I noticed that when I took my protector off this mark is under the factory screen protector.
I fear it may be dead pixels however I am not sure as I have never had them.
I can see it when the screen is turned off leading me to believe that it is not dead pixels however I just need the reassurance.
In the case it is dead pixels however do I go about fixing?
Will it be covered under my warranty?

Any help would be very appreciated.

In like march 2025 my house burnt done and my switch kinda melted off but someone from my local church help ed and fixed it for me, he didn't fix it completely but he fixed it enough where i can play it normally without any major casualties and all the other problems i managed to fix a solution too except this where i can't shut down or reset the switch when i need too (btw im still able to turn it off normally just can't power down or reset it) for some time i just stuck a needle in it to reset it but as time past it became extremely difficult to find where the actual power button under the yellow tape thingy bc the yellow tape thingy moves around making the power button under unclear where it actually is so i decided to ask this sub reddit for help its okay if there is nothing i can do, i'll just go back to messing with it untill i figure out how to deal with it but if you can help please 😊

Repair Help My Switch 2 has to be hard reset every time I leave it in the dock for more than a day

So I’ve been having this consistent issue where if I leave my Switch 2 in the dock for too long, it won’t turn on and I have to hard reset (hold power button for 20 secs, then press power button again). After that it runs perfectly fine, everything is good, but I keep having to do this every couple of days and it’s getting really annoying.

I sent my console to Nintendo in May and they said there was no issue with the battery. Thankfully, they replaced it with it a new one anyway. However the new one they sent back is still having the same issues.

Has anyone else dealt with this, and what should I do? Is it because too much power is going into the dock or something?

Accessories Joycon battery draining while off

Hi folks. I noticed that my right Joy-Con battery drains significantly while the console is completely powered off.

After not using the console for a week, the right Joy-Con battery was completely depleted, while the left one remained charged.

I did some more testing today, and after leaving the console powered off for about 3 hours, the right Joy-Con was at around 90–95%, while the left one was still fully charged.

Has anyone else experienced something similar? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Repair Help Packet loss on switch online. Connectivity issues.

Hello, I recently purchased a refurbished switch from GameStop and it is having issues with online features. The switch does connect to my network. But when I play online (any game title) I get disconnected regularly. Multiple times per hour. Enough to where I am being suspended regularly from online play. Now here’s where it gets confusing for me. My brothers switch plays smooth as butter on the same network with the same connection speeds being shown in the tests. We messed around with DNS settings and tried multiple resets. I even had a local store the fixes broken electronics do a diagnostic and they replaced the WiFi antenna. I also tried connecting it to other networks and some of them it won’t connect with at all. I’m not certain what can be done from here. Please let me know if there’s anything else I can try? Thanks

Repair Help Joycon 2 and controller suddenly disconnected and won’t connect back

Hello! I was playing my switch 2 in handheld mode. I was playing minecraft via controller when my sister came and sat on my bed, causing my switch to fall backwards. It didn’t fall far at all, it was sitting on my bed and it fell backwards onto my bed. When I picked it up the joycons and my controller were disconnected. I managed to get my controller connected again via usb c after i unpaired anything. Now, even when the joycons are docked, they still aren’t connecting and the controller isn’t connecting without usb c. I’ve tried everything online and i don’t know what to do. Please help!!

Seems the Actuator on my son's ZR is missing. Does anyone have a home made fix for this up their sleeve?

We have switch 1 controllers. Maybe those can be upcycled to the S2?

Thanks in advance!

Setup Help Switch 2 AC adapter won't hook up with switch 1

Hi! I made a reddit account specifically for this question because i haven't gotten any help with the searching I've already been doing. The switch 2 i just opened will not connect with my switch 1 while trying to transfer data with the switch 1. The switch 1 can detect the adapter but the switch 2 isn't, no matter what I do. I don't know if I'm missing something important, but whenever i click next on the switch 2 while they are both connected the it'll still ask me to connect an AC adapter. I'm also using the official Nintendo adapter that comes with the switch 2, so i'm clueless.

Software Help Is there a way to reset all my info and still keep digital games?

Hello, I am trying to sell my switch since I don’t ever use it anymore and it has been collecting dust for a while. I want to try and get a good amount of money out of it. I own a few popular games digitally like pokemon and Zelda and if possible I want to keep those on the switch but remove all of my other information. Is that possible so if someone buys it they will see the games but none of my stuff?
