Starting to look forward to the first game of the season, got me thinking, will Isak get boo'd? Will we sing "there's only one greedy bastard"? I've flipped between yes and no.

The yes part, he downed tools whilst we were paying his wages, especially fucked our summer transfer window and overall left on a very sour note.

The no part, will booing him make him play better? Would not booing him seem like we don't give a fuck about him and have moved on? The tiny bit of doubt that he was promised a contract and that wasn't given?

So a while back at the request of members of the sub, we agreed to ban Romano from r/NUFC.

As we've switched from normal season to transfer window, there's been some confusion over exactly how we want to implement that ban, so we want your opinions.

The reasons we banned Romano were partly because of his unethical journalism (stealing content from other journalists and claiming it as his "exclusive", putting out pieces he's been paid to do without caring about the truth of it) but perhaps more importantly because of the way he has supported the rapist, Greenwood, and tried to farm engagement and monetise Jota's death. He also posted to say Atsu was alive when he wasn't, giving family and friends hope - basically he is an unpleasant individual who we do not want to give any money or engagement to.

The options ban wise are:

Total ban - no links, no screenshots, no quoting his material or making reference to it, just a total blanket him and his views/news are not welcome on this sub.

Partial ban - no links and screenshots, but people are free to discuss his content, or write a comment with what he has said.

Personally, I'm off the opinion that a total ban is better. There are other reputable journalists who we can use instead and it gives a real statement that we don't condone him and his behaviour. Just in the same way I want Greenwood as far away from our club as possible, I don't want anyone who has apologised for him near us either. If we're allowing people to quote and discuss him it still drives engagement to him and legitimises his content.

However, I know not everyone holds that opinion, and please someone feel free to make opposing argument in the comments (or build on any of the points I've made). Remember to keep disagreements civil (we're all adults and we can not agree with someone without resorting to name calling etc.) and please vote in the poll as well.

I’m an American who’s trying to get into English football for the first time, and after looking around the Premier League, Newcastle United is the club I’m most interested in supporting.

The problem is I’m basically starting from zero. I know the basic rules of football, but I’m pretty ignorant when it comes to English football culture, rivalries, history, and what makes one club different from another.

I don’t want to be the stereotypical American who picks a team because they’re good and then pretends to know everything. I’d rather learn from the supporters themselves before fully committing.

Ive been reflecting a lot over the recent England mentality catastrophe, and the parallels with Newcastle. What struck me from the beginning of the match footage was the passion of the Argentinian players, their collective self belief and clear vision. Man for man, England are a better side, but through intensity, and of course having Messi to all upon, this team of players could retain the WC!

It reminded me of happier times at Newcastle. When our intensity, clear vision, team spirit and sometimes shithousery enabled us to outperform our squad and budget. Since then weve invested in better players and changed our strategy in search of more control. But all weve done is lose our identity (intensity) and we look ruddeless. With SCR tightening its grip and it becoming all too clear now that we will have ro make do with lesser players than the big 6, its obvious that we have to go back to intensity, build the squad around it and keep that as our strategy as we continue to trade players to grow
