After many hours drawing, I'm excited to finally share my art of Scott Parker from his time as Burnley head coach.

The 2024–25 Championship campaign was a remarkable one. Burnley secured an immediate return to the Premier League, finishing runners-up to Leeds United on goal difference after both clubs ended the season on 100 points. The Clarets also put together a 33-match unbeaten league run, equalled the Championship record with 30 clean sheets, and conceded just 16 league goals—the fewest ever in a 46-game English Football League season.

Whatever your views on Parker's style of football, there's no denying the organisation, resilience and consistency his side showed throughout that campaign. It felt only right to celebrate that achievement through this portrait.

My latest illustration celebrates some of the defining symbols of football in Burnley: Turf Moor, their home since 1883; Harry Potts, who guided the club to the Football League First Division title in 1959–60; and the traditions and memories that have shaped generations of Clarets supporters.

I wanted to bring those elements together in one piece that reflects the club’s unique history and identity.

Hello! With the World Cup causing a bit of a football craze here in the US, I wanted to actually get invested in the sport and pick a non-MLS team to root for. I landed on Burnley because:

I went to the game in Cincinnati a few days ago and had a great time interacting with the fans.

I love J.J. Watt (absolute legend for American football and just an amazing human being to go along with it).

Your guys’ uniforms and team colors are pretty sweet.

All of my other American friends getting into soccer are bandwagoning teams like PSG and Real Madrid which is booooooooring as fuck. Sports fandom should be about true loyalty no matter how good the team is. Suffering should be expected and not avoided by just picking a rich team that wins all the time. Plus with the bigger teams, it feels like there’s no real connection to the places and people; it’s all just overly commercialized and fake. I didn’t get any of those vibes when I talked to Burnley fans in Cincinnati, which felt super refreshing, as football coverage in the US rarely highlights smaller teams like Burnley and their fanbases.

Next season, I really want to try watching games and actually get invested in the team. But I simply don’t know a lot about the team, other than they got relegated last year. So feel free to tell me anything. Who are our best players? What are we looking forward to for next season? What’s the team’s history? What are some traditions the team/fanbase has? What other teams do I need to hate as a Burnley fan? Any tidbits would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Burnley’s 1959–60 First Division title was one of the most remarkable achievements in English football and became the defining moment in the club’s history. Under manager Harry Potts, Burnley won the league despite competing against wealthier and more established sides, relying instead on a squad developed largely through the club’s own youth system, with only two regular players signed for transfer fees. The championship was secured dramatically on the final day of the season after a 2–1 victory over Manchester City, having spent almost the entire campaign outside first place. The triumph reinforced Burnley’s reputation as one of the smallest towns ever to produce a champion of England’s top division, enhanced the club’s national reputation, and earned qualification for the European Cup for the first time in its history. More than six decades later, the 1959–60 title remains a symbol of Burnley’s commitment to youth development, intelligent management, and success achieved without the financial resources of the era’s biggest clubs.

Harry Potts guided Burnley to the 1959–60 First Division title, and his legacy lives on with Harry Potts Way at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche and Vincent Kompany each restored Premier League football to Burnley as Championship-winning managers, leaving a lasting impact on both the Clarets and the town.

For those who might mention it - wasn’t able to include the first titles manager John Haworth (1920-21) due to the fact that I couldn’t find decent enough clear references of him that I was satisfied with

I've just finished this illustration inspired by Burnley's 2022–23 Championship-winning season under Vincent Kompany. How it started vs how it finished…

After relegation from the Premier League, Burnley responded by winning the Championship with 101 points, earning promotion with seven games to spare and losing just three league matches all season. It was Kompany's first year in charge and marked a complete change in the team's style, with a younger squad playing confident, possession-based football.

I wanted to capture the moment with the Championship trophy as a tribute to what was one of the most memorable seasons in the club's recent history. Hope I've done it justice.

Hartman has shared photos of himself training alone in the Netherlands with the caption, "In the loading screen", as talk of a summer exit continues. The left-back has already admitted he expects to leave, with Espanyol heavily linked. It certainly feels like his time at Turf Moor is coming to an end, even if nothing has been made official yet.

Obviously we need a manager - but it does seem very quiet on the transfer front (inbound). Here’s a rumour I’d like to start: Sorba Thomas - excellent at this level

Luc De Fougerolls - 20 yo CB 🇨🇦 - Fulham 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

I can’t be not convinced that LDF is not already like 22/23 Jordan Beyer but younger, right-footed, and imo a much higher ceiling.

I’ve watched every game he’s featured for the Canadian Men’s team and believe he’s the real deal. While he def has some maturity to gain (which he’ll get in time and experience), he was integral to Canada’s Ro16 run at the World Cup, and I think if he represented 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿, he’d already have his signature chased by big 6 (even tho his Canadian career is probably a primary reason he played in the Belgian league this year at his age).

Yes I know we need a manager first. But I’m saying a year playing in the Championship will make him a full-time Prem player in 27/28.
