After I watched it, I was kinda just confused by all the 10/10s. Like, it's a great family movie, cute moments, some good acting, but better than Interstellar? Movie of the year? More than a 7/10??? I just don't get it.

The plot was basic hollywood sci-fi adventure with the silly alien sidekick and quirky protagonist, all the dialogue felt extremely scripted and milennial-esque, the characters were all kinda one-note. I understand why it's so loved especially by casual watchers, but it just baffles me on how the critics are on the same boat.

Don't get me wrong, it had a lot of great aspects too, but I can't be the only one who was severely underwhelmed, right??????

I would not mind if Hollywood were dethroned internationally though. Perhaps it already has been. I live in the US and I already kinda ignore it.

We finally have a new 4.5-rated movie since Parasite and it only took 7 years.

So many great movies with very different approaches, I think this is my favorite though because it has a bit of everything and I find it darkly hilarious at times why also being kind of tragic.

I know it wasn't an accurate adaptation of the book but it was still watchable and entertaining film. Some stories deserve to be judged on their own and this is one of them.

Such a thrilling experience. It took a while to get into the interesting stuff but the whole getting into parts were also really good. The bridge scene my god. Any other Freidkin movies to watch ?? Edit : 1977 not 1978

I absolutely love the film. The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous and the characters are all amazing! I really love Travis’s monologue during the 2nd booth scene. Only problem I have with this film was that I didn’t really get emotional 🥲 Anyone else didn’t get emotional or it’s just me?

Frankly I didn't care for it. I loved the look and sound of the film. I tend to love the type of music Tarantino puts in his soundtracks and these 60s bops are no different. I love how Los Angeles is filmed as well. Just some great shots of a metropolitan summer which I'm a sucker for. But they lack just a bit of substance. A movie just about people going about their day can work, but Tarantino lacks a point of view to what's being shot. The characters guiding us through these scenes aren't very compelling, neither are the situations they find themselves in and the ultimate twist pay-off wasn't interesting to me (even though flame throwers are indeed cool). The result is a movie that lacks momentum. Margot Robbie does great with what little she has, but the film gives us no insight to her or Brad Pitt's characters. Which is interesting given that the movie is set up as this love letter to a major diverging point in Hollywood. But nothing is said about this moment in time other than "What if, like, things didn't happen that way". Yeah, bitch, what about it? Leo did good in his performance as a bratty Hollywood type who takes his job seriously, though. He had a great sense of humor and prima donna-ness which helped pull me through the first half of the movie. Also this movie gave us Margot Robbie and featured one of my favorite historic weirdos Squeaky Fromme. So there's that!

I feel like people forget how truly great of a director Taika Waititi is. Jojo Rabbit and Hunt for The Wilderpeople are genuinely some of my favorite films of all time. What We Do In The Shadows was also incredible, and Thor Ragnorok was one of the best marvel movies at it's release (and at least the best Thor movie). After Love and Thunder it's like he fell off a cliff in terms of writing quality and directing style. What happened? The visual style in Jojo and HFTWP is genuinely amazing and the writing even more so. It seems strange for someone with such promise to fall off so hard.

Out of the ones I have left, I’m not quite sure if they’re worth the time honestly. It seems like animé fans and Indians have got a little too many spots on the list.

• Drishyam (2013) - Indian movie (side note: Drishyam 2 was also in the list before getting out because of The Odyssey)

Are any of these worth watching if you’re not an animé fan, Indian or from Turkey? 

I should also mention that I gave the most top rated Indian movie a chance which was 3 Idiots. A pretty silly college comedy that was 3 hours long with little to none female characters. I gave it 3 stars.

Will it still annoy me to no end that the circle won’t be green in my Letterboxd stats so I might watch all of them anyway? Maybe…
