Other Driver Intentionally Swerved on Crossing to Scare me

Upvotes

Was crossing the street and a blue Ford pickup truck was driving towards the pedestrian crossing. The driver, instead of stopping continued going and intentionally swerved towards me to scare and then kept going. I got the plate but don’t know if Hoboken PD will do anything about it. Be careful out there. Some crazy drivers.

Recommendations 🌟 Shout out to The Hive

I want to just say how grateful I am that The Hive exists. I have a baby now and it’s somewhere we can go & I can immediately relax. Everyone (workers and patrons alike ) are so baby friendly - someone always jumping up to help me move the stroller through the doors or gush over my little one🥲

A clean, cozy, safe space! 🫶🫶🫶

Recommendations 🌟 Workouts similar to Project Sculpt

Upvotes

I’ve been going to Project Sculpt and enjoy their strength exercises, but the studio always feels so cramped and I can’t get the weights suitable for me for some key exercises because they are taken. Good for them for having such good business, but the crowdedness makes me dread going! Does anyone have recommendations for similar strength focused classes in Hoboken at a studio that feels less crowded?

Nightlife/Bars 🍸 Bottle service recs

Upvotes

My friends and I are planning my 22nd birthday and we’re looking for recommendations for the best bottle service in Hoboken or nearby (Jersey City, Weehawken, etc.).

We’d rather not go into NYC since we already have plans there the next day and don’t want to deal with getting back late, but not opposed to some recommendations. Would rather avoid the cliche spots (Tao, marquee, little sister) Looking for somewhere with a fun crowd, good music and a good overall vibe for a birthday.

If you’ve done bottle service anywhere in the area, where would you recommend?

Question❓ Cast Iron Lofts

Anyone live in Cast Iron lofts? We are looking to move there and wondering how difficult it is to find parking with the unreserved option. Is it worth it to pay more for reserved? TIA! Also open to thoughts on the building in general :)

Question❓ Someone throwing things out of the Sky Club?

My gf lived in 100 Marshall for a year and had her car egged twice while parking in the same spot. We thought nothing of it until my buddy recently had his windshield broken from a bottle that looked to be thrown. I’m hearing rumors that there is someone living in the sky club that is basically being a piece of shit. Spraying people taking their trash out with water guns, egging cars, yelling etc.. anyone live in the building and hear similar?

Recommendations 🌟 Any reccs for a dog sitter for 2 pups?

Wondering if anyone has any reccos for sitters in the area they’ve had a great experience with! I’m new to town with 2 anxious pups & looking for a sitter for 2 1/2 days in August preferably with experience with shy, but very sweet/low maintenance dogs.

Local Government/Politics 🏫 Bicycles on the sidewalk

A bit of a rant; what is it with young entitled people in this town. A young woman riding on the sidewalk came up behind me just as I was walking now, no warning no bell , hit me and my dog and continued on, without an apology. When I asked what exactly was wrong with her the answer was “you should pay attention when you’re walking”. I think we need to have serious conversation about bikes on the sidewalk in this town. There are enough bike lanes now. If you’re not a child you should be in the street. Has any politician here proposed this before?

Recommendations 🌟 looking for a night nurse ASAP

hi! I'm a first-time mom due Aug 12. our night nurse plans just fell through. does anyone have a recommendation for a night nurse that might be available on short notice, or agencies we could contact? thank you!!

[posted this in Hoboken Mommies FB group but mods there deleted it because nanny posts are only allowed in their monthly thread, which 1) I can't find 2) this is fairly urgent]

Question❓ Pottery, calligraphy, or similar art classes

I moved to NJ from out of state back in the winter and am trying to get into some new hobbies, get out of my comfort zone, and hopefully meet some cool people along the way.

I know Paint & Sip classes are really popular right now, but I’m looking for more variety than just watercolor painting.

Are there any places for adults with a casual and social vibe that hold one night only classes or weekly classes in ceramics/pottery, calligraphy, traditional Japanese stamp making, etc? I’m open to going into NYC for this too, but would prefer something on the NJ side of the river (Hoboken and Jersey City preferred because I know them best).

Housing/Sublets/Roommates 🏠 Looking for apartment sublet

Hi there. Looking for a studio or 1 bed sublet beginning 9/1, maybe 9/15. Ideally would be for at least 3 months but open to longer. Open to suggestions if there’s a good site for these.

Recommendations 🌟 Private Events at Hoboken Biergarten

Hi there! We're looking at booking a big event at the Hoboken Biergarten, for about 100 people. Their quote works for us and say we have exclusive use of the Winter Garden. It looks like the reviews of the place in general are overall mixed. Has anyone gone to a private hosted event there? How was it? Thank you!

Hi neighbors — I’m the owner of Vacant Casa, a small ceramics studio here in Hoboken. We currently have a limited number of monthly memberships available for potters who already have basic ceramics experience and want independent studio time.
Membership is $200/month, including tax, and includes:
• 24/7 studio access
• Unlimited kiln firing within reasonable studio use
• Dedicated storage of approximately 20–25 cubic feet
• Shimpo VL-Lite pottery wheels and large worktables
• Access to our Skutt 1027 electric kiln
• Optional support for small-batch production, 3D-printed prototypes and mold development
Kiln scheduling may be required depending on firing volume. Members are responsible for maintaining a clean and safe shared workspace.
If you’re new to pottery, we also offer beginner classes before moving into independent membership.
You’re welcome to tour the studio before joining: [BOOKING LINK]
Questions? Comment below, email [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), or call/text [(312) 684-6235](tel:(312)%20684-6235).
Disclosure: I own the studio and am happy to answer questions here.

Local News 📰 Things to Do Around Hoboken This Week (July 20–26) | Markets, Live Music, Movies & More

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

A few people asked if I’d share this in r/Hoboken too, so here it is.

Full transparency: I’m one of the people building YourScene, a events app. We started putting these weekly roundups together because we couldn’t find one place that collected everything happening around North Jersey. This isn’t sponsored—we’re just trying to build something useful for the community, and I’ll keep posting these if people find them helpful.

This week’s roundup includes Hoboken, plus nearby events in Jersey City, Newark, Union City, Weehawken, and other spots that are just a quick walk, PATH ride, or short drive away.

Hoboken highlights this week
🎬 Free Movie Night at ResilienCity Park
🎹 Dueling Pianos at Madd Hatter
🎧 Dance Party at Madd Hatter (Thu–Sat)
🌊 Summerfest concerts just across the river in Jersey City
🎤 Shinedown, HOT 97 Summer Jam & IVE at Prudential Center
🥕 Farmers markets throughout the week nearby
The full weekly roundup is in the crosspost above 👆

If I missed a Hoboken event, recurring meetup, happy hour, trivia night, volunteer opportunity, run club, pickleball group, live music, comedy show, or anything else local, leave it in the comments. I’ll update the list and include it in next week’s roundup.
The goal is for these to become a community resource—not just something I put together—so suggestions are always appreciated.
