Membership is $200/month, including tax, and includes:

• Dedicated storage of approximately 20–25 cubic feet
• Shimpo VL-Lite pottery wheels and large worktables

How hard it would it be to get into Stevens? I’ve been out of highschool for almost 7 years now. I’ve been in the military as an aviation electronics technician for about 5 years now. Just wanna know what my chances of getting in are since I’ve been out of school so long. I’ll try to get my bachelors in electrical engineering. I’ve been to electronics school in FL where we learn about troubleshooting and I also have a lot of experience with multimeters, oscoliscopes, signal generators and that kind of stuff. I was in the top 10th percentile of my class but also didn’t really go to a good school and got like a 1300 on my SAT. Would it be super hard like MIT to get into or should I not even bother. I’d obviously like to get in because everything would be paid for but what would like to know my chances.

I’m joining this fall for MSCS. I don’t know a single fucking person from the college, and I wanna build some connections.

Here’s a bit about me: I’m a 22M from Hyderabad, India. Currently am working as a cloud engineer(still a fresher). I’m not really into academics, but pretty much everything else. I love films, shows, anime, filmmaking, etc. I’ve shot a few short films and have a bunch of stories just lying around waiting to be shot. I also worked as a graphic designer for a good 4 years (still haven’t lost the touch). I do like to nerd out over niche topics lol. Apart from that, music, cameras, food, and anything new keeps me hooked.

So, I’m looking to meet as many people as possible. Doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from, I just wanna have a few familiar faces before I get to college. Feel free to DM.

I’ll be using my GI bill to attend school in NJ. I can choose between Rutgers, Stevens or NJIT. Which school offers the best for electrical engineering or really any engineering. Cost is not a factor at all considering everything will be paid for. I’d really would like some advice. Also which college has good study abroad programs as well? That’s something that’s important to me. Any advice would greatly be appreciated. I’ll be living at home so dorms or not a factor. Also internships are a great deal as well as networking more so than academics.

When I first came to Stevens, I heard that there was a co-op program as an option. A lot of other schools I looked at had internships and not co-ops. I’ll admit I should have done my research.

The school sold me and my parents on this idea that I could get a job while working on my academics. But what the school failed to tell me and my other classmates who wanted to do co-op was how we’re not guaranteed a job by joining the program among other missing details. Here’s what I really learned:

1. Co-ops are just internships that take place during an academic school year instead of summer.

2. They have companies that come to campus to interview students but from what I heard from other people who went to interview, you have to be a) selected by the company to interview with them and b) the companies that are there no student really had an interest in working with. For context, my friends and I are mechanical and electrical engineering majors and the companies that we want to work for don’t partner with Stevens.

3. The employers don’t follow up with students after events like that. It’s a waste of our time as students to miss class for a “maybe” opportunity just to find out we’re not selected.

I met with career coach the other day and asked about it and all he said was “well you can submit your resume to a resume book next semester we’ll send it off” what a joke. Clearly no idea what he’s talking about.

My parents are furious with the career center for their lack of experience or knowledge in this area. How can Stevens just wing it like this and just have random companies no one wants to apply to in the first place?

So what did I do? I asked my parents for help. My dad has connections and used to be an industry recruiter. He connected me with someone at an engineering staffing firm. The recruiter was really nice and helpful and I asked him what I can do to prepare better.

He was honest: the job market is tough right now but it was important for me to build on my skills and focus on taking classes related to my major in the field I want to be in. He actually asked me about my background and why I chose engineering. This was completely different that the experience I had with a “career specialist” or “coach “ or whatever at the career center.

I had a long talk with my parents and I’ve decided to transfer out of Stevens. My academic advisors were more helpful than the career center. I’ll miss the friends I made and professors I learned from but that’s it. I’ll admit I should have done more research and a friend of mine is doing the same thing by getting out.

I’m writing on here because I’m frustrated and expected better at the school. Stevens needs to have real recruiters be career coaches who know industry. The career center doesn’t seem like they have anyone with that knowledge (my dad poked around each staffs LinkedIn profile) I don’t care I SAID IT!

If you’re going to spend money here or go into debt, go to a reputable school that has a REPUTABLE CO-op program!

I’m currently signed with Hudson Dorms for the Fall ‘26 and Spring ‘27 semesters, but I’m looking to commute in the spring semester, and Hudson Dorms does not do single-semester leases for students that are not graduating. However, I am allowed to have someone take over my lease for the spring semester so long as they are not currently signed on with Hudson Dorms.

The apartment is a 5-person apartment at 800 Jefferson Street, cost for a semester is $6,795. ~15 minute walk from campus, 5 minute walk away from the Light Rail, ACME, and ShopRite. Pizza & Kabab places right across the street. The apartment has in-unit laundry, an elevator, a gym, and a courtyard with grills and a fire pit.

I do have some direct flights to JFK and EWR , i wanna know how strict or convenient is the port of entry at all these places..

Hi I’ma incoming Stevens student and I’m a stem major and I was wondering if I do good enough on my math placement test can I place out of calc 1 and maybe 2 even if I don’t have the credits. I feel really strong on my calculus knowledge and I am hoping to be in calc 2 or 1 but I feel like I’m going to get a 3 on the AP exams.

Incoming freshman at Davis who got a room next to the communal bathroom. Specifically on the right side of the bathrooms. The pros would probably be that it's convenient, but I was just wondering if there are any noise issues or problems with being next to the bathrooms.

I have been looking at windows computers for use at Stevens and was wondering if there was any consensus about certain things to make sure to get above the base requirements stevens provides such as Lenovo vs Dell or 14" vs 16"

I’m incoming first year engineering student, but I ended up buying a macbook before switching my major to engineering and I realize that you basically need a windows machine. I have never tried parallels but I heard that some ppl end up using it for solid works. Do you think it’s worth it to try and make these programs work for mac os or just end up buying a windows laptop. Additionally I have a PC at home since i’m commuting that can run the softwares so even in that case do u still think it’s worth getting a windows laptop

Im an incoming fall freshman in engineering undecided. I know 100% im going to declare my major as Mechanical engineering (i applied engineering undecided bc my stats were highkey below average for this school and thought I had a better chance going in as undecided rather than apply with a decided major in mind)
I know I want to persue aerospace engineering after I get a bachelors in mechanical engineering and I know that Stevens offers an aerospace concentration with the bachelors in mechanical engineering Aswell as its own aerospace minor. But im just wondering which of the 2 would be better to have before applying for an aerospace engineering masters program in the future (i plan to apply to stevens again for my masters too but also plan to apply for other schools)

I know im probably overthinking this by a long shot. But Since im in engineering undecided right now, would me staying in engineering undecided for the first 1-3 semesters affect getting a concentration or a minor in aerospace engineering (or whatever the actual term is) in any way?? Should I try and change my major right now/declare it right now before the deadline if it hasnt already passed (i forgot when the deadline is, would someone be able to lmk plz)

BASICALLY: im going into stevens engineering undecided, i want to get another aerospace concentration/minor but idk if me starting in engineering undecided will affect me achieving any of that, and if i should declare/change my major (whichever that would be for an undecided student before classes even start lol) before the first semester even starts/class choosing. also is the concentration or minor better for going into an aerospace masters?

Hi, I’m an incoming freshmen with a roommate who just went through room selection.

Rather unfortunately, we got late times so we essentially were limited to Davis, Humphrey, Palmer (only singles), and Castle Point.

We had also heard that Castle point was undergoing renovations in the bathrooms, including removal of asbestos - and given the nature of the material, we decided to pass on that.

However, I think we still have some residual concerns on the safety of Davis (where we selected). Is asbestos, bathroom cleanliness, or general facilities a concern at Davis? And if so, could we still switch?
