I’m not kidding. I’m an avid flea market/ thrift shopper and the number one thing I always look for is gold. This is my best gold find to date, but I have found quite a number of pieces of gold jewelry over the years. I figured I’d share with the sub, fellow gold lovers!

Finally got in the game

After lurking for way too long, finally bought some gold yesterday. Starting off with a Valcambri 1 oz Combi Bar and a 1/4 oz Gold Eagle. Great prices from Monument Metals. Can't wait for it to arrive :)

Hahaha, gold is already up like $90/oz since I locked in my price. This is fun.

Wife was informed by our bank that our safety deposit box was being relocated. I had zero memory of this box...apparently it was opened jointly back in 2012...we get to bank and the officer informed us that there were 14 years of unpaid dues on the box hahaha...we paid....took out the box and i find gold i thought was stolen/lost/misplaced during our last house reno 15 years ago...

its now worth +300% or thereabouts ....bought before 2010. Funny how our memory works. Took out everything, closed the box. happy ending

Edit

It's really strange ppl would not believe this lol...I have zero reason to make it up...I just thought it was a nice story to post on this sub. Life happens, back then I was going tru biz issues, bad renovation, first kid,I must have put the stuff in the box for safe keeping and totally forgot about it

Same thing with my wife, she inherited the box from her mom who passed, only opened it once, then it slipped her mind for years and years

Not in the US

Found this gorgeous 18k pendant for $10 at a flea market a few weeks back. Still in shock to be honest. 15.6 grams, tested by a jeweler.

Does mined/sluiced/detected gold feel better than bought?

Post image

I have some bars and coins that I bought at a gold shop but I have always had a dream to find some nuggets in Western Australia or just set up a sluice box in the Yukon somewhere over the summer. Even if I just get a couple of grams the blood sweat and tears it would have taken to find that gold would be so worth it. Is your gold mostly bought or do you have some got out of the ground yourself?

I have seen too many charts and too much crap TA diluting a thread of great pictures recently, so I thought that I would post a video of some shiny stuff:

Question Should I be buying gold coins or bars?

Hi I started buying small grams last month . Learned my leasson quick on how to buy them now . Well as much info and advice as I can get and find. So bought some grams last month and paid 10 over spot then paid about 30 in shipping and about 40-50 in taxes. Round about prices. So I’m looking to find a place near me that sells gold so I don’t have to pay shipping and maybe not so much taxes . And insurance ect. But I can’t find a definitive answer at what’s best at this point to buy. I do t have much so I can only buy around 5-6 hundred worth every month. I keep getting different answers that I should stay with the bars or no I need to buy coins. I’m probably going to do both if I can find the right prices. But what is all your opinions on this. Please give me some insight . Thanks guys . This r/ has been so helpful so far. Appreciate everyone helping me out.

Speculation When do you think premiums are going to come back on pre-33

Upvotes

I saw some videos from a few years ago about pre-33 vs modern bullion and they were saying how a disadvantage of pre-33 is that the premiums are higher. Boy, how the times have changed. You can get it at melt, sometimes even lower.

When do you think the premiums will come back?

I found this pendant in a vintage jewelry lot at a thrift store. I can't seem to find any markings on it. After a Google lense search it came back to be possibly made by Rikers Bros circa 1900s. But the lack of a mark scares me. Any thoughts?
