Which Watch To Get? Anybody else considering Garmin Cirqa?

So I've had a Garmin Fenix 6 Pro since like 2020 and it has worked flawlessly. I seriously love my watch. That said, I work in finance and like the look of a nice watch.

When I have an event to go to I usually take my Garmin off and wear a more professional looking watch. I'm considering getting the cirqa and wearing it on my right wrist all the time and then wearing a nicer watch on my left wrist all the time.

Honestly I don't track my workouts live on my watch anyways so I'm really not sure what features I would miss from not having a full Garmin Watch on all the time.

Anybody else feel this way or considering the same thing?

Discussion Zone 2???

I’m a VERY new runner. I just finished a super easy run trying to keep my HR under 155-160 (2.1 mi/31:50). I literally couldn’t go slower. My average HR was 165, I walked when it went over 170, breathed almost entirely through my nose, and I could hold a conversation the whole time. Sounds like Zone 2 to me right??

I’m gonna blame this on my Garmin watch for not knowing my physiology, but it thinks my Zone 2 HR is 120-139. That’s a WALK for me sometimes. I have lower BP than average and my resisting HR is about 50, but when I’m up and moving around it’s ~90-110.

If anyone has any input or feedback. Let me know! But for now, I’m finished focusing on “Zone” runs.

Accessories / Companion Device “wirelessly” charging my FR255

What do you think about this? Isn’t this handy for urgent?

  1. Samsung Galaxy S25 with wireless power sharing;
  2. a wireless charging adapter for a Garmin watch;
  3. and a watch that happens to be running low on power

Wellness & Training Metrics / Features VO2 Max

pardon the throwaway account, but i started running distance about a month and half ago and have a 44 vo2 max average. comparing that to everyone else on this subreddit and other distance subreddits, it feels awful. i’m relatively young, so i don’t know much about it. can it improve quickly?

edit; i will add, ive only been focusing on times lately. i managed to drop from a 9:29 to a 7:24 (so proud of myself) and have wanted to expand to caring for other aspects of endurance!

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Garmin Connect is Messy

Anyone else feel this way, especially with the most recent update adding the essentials bar at the top?

Now there are 4 metrics in the essentials bar, then In Focus where you scroll horizontally to view generally the same metrics as the essentials bar, then the glances are just different metrics to glance...they all generally perform the exact same purpose and in many cases can show the same key data like training readiness or whatever...

Leads me to wonder why are they making these so repetitive and also wonder if a larger overhaul to the app is coming because this is just getting messy.

The CIRQA marketing video shows a lot more glass UI effects and stuff and typically marketing and branding of a product tries to align and match the feel of the product and the services...could Connect be getting a UI update to align more with modern design language with the glass UI, and updated navigation and everything to match more modern apps like bevel.

Which Watch To Get? Moving to Garmin from Apple Watch

Good afternoon all, looking for a bit of advice!

Over the past few years I've become increasingly fed up with Apple Watches. I've gradually upgraded through the range and currently have an Apple Watch Ultra 2, but even that has started to lose its appeal. My biggest frustration is the battery life. Despite being Apple's premium watch, I'm still charging it far more often than I'd like.

It's got to the point where I've been considering giving up on smartwatches altogether. which is mad as I've worn some form of smartwatch since the early days of the Moto 360, but because of my experience with Apple, I've been debating whether to get a Whoop or Fitbit for fitness tracking and then just wear a traditional watch.

Though a few people around me wear Garmins and have been encouraging me to make the switch. I'm always doing some sort of fitness activity, whether that's gym sessions, hiking, or wild camping, so Garmin seems like it could be a good fit.

With that in mind, I was pretty close to pulling the trigger on an Epix Pro Gen 2 Sapphire. The price and feature set seem ideal for what I want. However, I've recently seen Garmin are releasing what I can imagine YouTube tech influencers are calling a "Whoop killer", and that's got me reconsidering the whole fitness band + watch combination again.

So I'd love to hear from people who have maybe made a similar switch from Apple, or from those who own an Epix Pro Gen 2.

  • Would you still buy the Epix Pro Gen 2 today?
  • Is Garmin's new fitness band worth waiting for?
  • If you were in my position, would you go for a Garmin watch, a fitness band + traditional watch, or something else entirely?

Cheers in advance for any advice!

Cirqa Cirqa during the night, Fenix8 during the day

Hey guys, love my fenix8 and been wearing it daily ever since I got it. My only problem is: I hate how bulky it is while sleeping and end up putting it on my nightstand, not tracking any vital data during the night.
I’ve had a whoop in the past which didn’t bother me with its slim form factor. Now with cirqa I’m considering getting it, to get sleep data and using the fenix8 during the day and my workouts.

Anyone know if data would sync up nicely and whether that would be a supported use case?

Watch / Wearable When we end sleep mode in the morning, can we PLEASE stop having it automatically reenter sleep mode a few minutes later?

This has even happened to me during GPS activities where I got up at 12AM to summit Whitney and had to fight my watch from entering sleeping mode every few minutes.

Cirqa Cirqa Vs HRM 600

Any insight to if you can use the Cirqa is a biceps HRM & how it would compare to a HRM 600.

Looking into getting one of the 2 as I race Motocross and often have my watch mounted on the handle bars and want something that tracks me all day while it’s on the bars.
I do wear my watch 24/7 other than this.

Just pre-ordered mine (black, xl). If you’re an REI member, you also get $20 back in rewards. I had so many rewards in my account, scored the Cirqa for $106! Hopefully it gets fulfilled at launch.

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Resting Heart Rate (RHR) Overestimated

I don't wear a Garmin watch, only use the Edge 1050 as my cycling computer. Because of this, Garmin wildly overestimates my RHR. Some days it says it's over 100BPM. My true RHR is around 40BPM per my Apple Watch. But because Garmin only gets HR data during my bike rides (when I'm actively exercising), it calculates my RHR to be way too high. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Which Watch To Get? Decisions

I’m looking to switch from an Apple Watch to a garmin. There are just so many options. I’d be using it to track steps/calories burned. I swim, run and do CrossFit. Not looking for anything super fancy but just want to make sure it’s good long term

Developer - New App / Watch Face [New App] - Milestone

Heya folks! I really enjoyed the Garmin expedition badges that were milestones like Inca Trail or the Patagonia circuit. But they never added new one... 😒 So I thought I would try make my own little app that uses your daily steps and stride length to copy the same sort of thing.
It's Completely free. It shows up as a glance widget like the attached image. You can open it up and see your progress towards different milestones. It's really simple. No permissions required.

(I'll be honest, I don't know if anyone even looks at Garmin apps these days. I'd love to make a proper game for our watches, but I don't think people actually want that...)

A picture of the glace view of the Milestone garmin app. It says "Inca Trail" with 32.2km out of 43.0km

Discussion Looking for advice!

Hi! I’m looking for some advice around what tracker is best for me and hoping that someone could help!

I’m currently stuck between a Garmin smartwatch, the new Garmin Cirqa or staying with my Whoop.

The biggest things for me are more health & sleep related, so real-time heart rates, stress tracking etc.

Workouts are a bonus - I’m not big on running anymore.

I currently have a Whoop 5.0 on trial, and used a Whoop 4.0 for the majority of last year, but don’t have any loyalties.

Would rather avoid a subscription where necessary but not completely against it!

Thanks in advance 🙂

Which Watch To Get? Which Garmin to choose?

I want to buy Garmin watch for sleep tracking, steps tracking, gym, mountain hiking, using alarm clock and ocassionally running. I dont need any features like calling, plan to disable all of the notifications. Only need to check time. And the battery should last above 10 days. Do you have any recommendations? I was thinking about Instinct E or any of the older Instincts (maybe 2X or some second hand ones)

Cirqa Thinking about the Garmin Cirqa, but I ride indoors on TPV

I’m interested in getting the new garmin cirqa, but I’m on the fence.

I already use a garmin bike computer for outdoor rides. During the winter, though, I do most of my indoor riding on TrainingPeaks Virtual (similar to Zwift). From what I understand, TPV rides don’t automatically sync to garmin connect.

Would that mean I’d be missing important activity, training load, recovery, or other data in the garmin ecosystem during the winter? Or is there a way to get everything to work together?

I’d really like to have the full garmin ecosystem, but I’m wondering if the cirqa makes sense for me if a lot of my riding is indoors.

Anyone here use garmin with TrainingPeaks Virtual (or Zwift) and have experience with this?

Cirqa Switching from WHOOP to Garmin CIRQA — how is strength training tracked?

I’m currently a WHOOP user, but my subscription ends on August 8 and I’ve ordered the new Garmin CIRQA. I’m planning to move fully to Garmin Connect.

On WHOOP, I have my full strength-training routines saved with every exercise, set, rep and weight. How does this work with CIRQA and Garmin Connect? Can I create and follow complete workouts exercise by exercise, or does it only record the session as a general strength activity?

Also, is Garmin Connect good enough as a complete WHOOP replacement, or do you recommend another strength-training app that syncs accurately with Garmin?

Accessories / Companion Device Sick of proprietary cable clutter

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

From cable clutter and prototype fails to a completely cordless setup, I spent the last few months building a Qi wireless charging adapter for my Garmin watch.

Like maybe many of you, the missing wireless charging on Garmin watches was always my biggest friction point—especially coming from devices where you just drop it on a desk pad. The battery lasts 2 weeks, which is awesome, but every 14 days I'd end up hunting for that one specific 4-pin cable hidden under a mountain of cords.

Instead of just complaining, I decided to fix it myself.

It's been a fun project to get my desk cable-free, at least visually . Curious to hear your thoughts!

Rant Warning about GarmStrap – Looks official, but the quality is terrible

The website looks almost like an official Garmin accessory store, but it's just cheap rebranded products.

https://www.garmstraps.com/

This is my strap after only one month of normal daily wear. The black coating is already peeling off.

Definitely not worth the price. How Garmin allow this website?

Watch / Wearable What time will the Garmin CIRQA be available to order in Europe?

Garmin says the CIRQA will be available to order from July 24 in Europe. Does that normally mean it will go live at 00:00 CEST, or does Garmin usually open orders later in the day based on US time? Has anyone experienced a similar Garmin launch before?

Cirqa Chase the Summit - Initial Impressions

I initially thought this will replace my current Epix 2 but it seems more likely I will use them both for activities, and the band for general stats tracking.

Anyone else exited to be able to be able to wear their normal watches again ?

Garmin also mentioned that they reconsidered and add the HR display during an activity without a subscription required.

Connect / Connect IQ / 1st Party Apps Why no love for Indoor Rowing?

After my knee replacement, my surgeon says my running days are over. I've switched to indoor rowing at the gym for my cardio. I've been working on lowering my 5km time. So, looking in Garmin Connect "personal records" section, there's nothing for indoor rowing. I've been recording rowing sessions for a couple of months now. I also tried to set up a goal for rowing 5km in 26 minutes. You can set a time goal for rowing but only in increments of whole hours. Who rows for hours? I tried entering .45 hours but it won't take anything other than whole hours. Why doesn't Garmin recognize rowing as a legitimate excercise for personal records and goals?

Discussion Fossil Hybrid features that Garmin Vivioactive6 lacks

I am actually hoping these are hidden in the settings and I’m just too dumb to find them, but Fossil had two features that I miss dearly due to my ADHD. They were companion features, basically. One would see that you were either walking briskly or running for an extended period and the watch would ask you if you were performing either exercise and if you answered yes, it would “back date” your progress. The other and maybe even more important was it would notice you standing still or moving slower for a time and ask you if you were still performing your activity. If the answer was “no” it would back date your activity ending.

Because of my ADHD there have been numerous instances where I’ve performed an activity, stopped, driven home and hours later realized I never stopped it on my watch.

It’s an incredibly easy feature to add, and, honestly, it should be a default feature that you have to opt out of.
