Hello, I've been working on general game guides and starter materials for different feiends and family.
I posted this comment the other day in the hopes of getting more interaction under a post about the new player experience.
If anyone has any advice, notes or graphics they wish to share I would adore that! The full version will have its own visually aided PowerPoint and medium piece.
This is more a proof of tone and concept. So if this was spread out to better prepare people for loadouts or the assignment of champs and elements to weapons, then it would make new players go from an internet of resource to one "CTRL-F" input.

The actual text is below. This would be a general synopsis meant for those trying to join in with knowledge of games and maybe even a little destiny. Someone just joining the experience.
The actual project will have much more in the way of examples/guides rather than suggestions. I like to know tone and mindset is good. As fellow vets and newcomers alike, does this feel helpful to opening up the game?

My best advice for being a new player in Destiny is to progress linearly through the stories, after visiting the Timeline in the director. And ignore Guardian Ranks until your first story run is done.
The only exception is renegade intro to get to tier 3 for mods. Do it on easy (replayable for legendary later) and skip cutscenes.
The timeline lets you play a few key moments but also gives you a general sense of where everything falls in. It won't help you uncover the depths of characters outside of in-game missions but it will add to that resource.
Once you have your story completed, try exploring the moon. No rush or need to go anywhere else, just complete some quests or do some essence completions. Maybe do some lost sectors.
Repeat this cycle as you would if a new dlc dropped. When the moon is old, go do Beyond Light. When Beyond Light runs dry of its specific stuff go do Witch Queen.
Following that cycle will introduce you to each system the dlcs brought as well as ensure that on Legendary completion, we are earning extra exotics and armor for our character.
Ignore everything you earn that doesnt feel good and just Vault those weapons or delete them if they feel bad. Armor is a mess for new players and "end game builds" are either breaking something or just scratching a few numbers off of different measures.
You can experiment with this by testing in the Tower's Shooting Range. Equip some mods, like a Grenade Font! These give about 20/40/60 depending on if we run one, two, or three. These numbers are estimated or near-specific.
Anyhow, with this equipped, we can have around 100 Grenade with only 4 Grenade stat mods? And then decide if it felt better to throw that Grenade or to know it dealt 1 kajillion damage.
This with help you begin to decide where in the sandbox you want to be as you prepare for actual Ops Playlist activities like Nightfalls and Raids. If you liked the nature of throwing the Grenade and the number was just cool, maybe leave the Shooting Range and find a YouTube build to chase after while you cobble together the story.
Or if you like the numbers, find a video on what guns make that go up. Progress through the story and into your Ops with a mind for what to grind. Make the focus just about funny number go brr, because even if it was good the story ends.
Its where our Legend begins now. And yours is gonna be awesome!
So remember, guns with good Perks, which artificats are BEST and class aspects/fragments you need for bigger BOOM will come to you as you progress. Because of this, ignore it and just keep trying shit out.
Equip that new subclass aspect from Ikora, throw on 5 Grenade stat mods and 3 grenade fonts to spam Q. This will teach you how to use every end game warlock build like wax on/wax off.
Grab a Mistral Drift from the Tenet of Bravey in the tower courtyard. Its the "Dawning Weapon Engram" and discover the joys of Tablet of Ruins Particle Reconstruction.
Just keep exploring what is good here, the gameplay. And once you wrap the story we do have, or while you are looking for good drops and feel confident, jump into the Seasonal Hub or the Guardian Ranks menu for new content to try out.
Guardian Ranks will walk you through the Vanguard Ops and their many different options of modifiers or activity.
