Honestly morale at EY seems lower than Everest era.

It’s all “you should be glad you have a job”. Massive layoffs. Allegedly no bonuses, trash raises, and hearing they are formally stretching out the path to partner further. Just real brutal stuff outta uncle Ernst.

I’m deciding between two MSA programs and would appreciate some advice.

I graduated this past May from George Mason University with my bachelor’s in Accounting, so I am familiar with the area and the university.

I was accepted into GMU's MSA with a full tuition scholarship, and a guaranteed Graduate Teaching Assistant position.

I was also accepted into Wake Forest University’s MSA with a full tuition scholarship as well, but no “work study“ position guaranteed.

My goal is to earn my CPA and work in Big Four.

If you were in my position, which program would you choose and why? What factors should I consider that I may be overlooking?

I've been with the firm for 2.5 years and, despite receiving a differentiating rating again this year (3rd time in a row), I still haven't been promoted from Analyst to Senior Analyst. To be honest, I'm extremely disappointed and frustrated.

Unfortunately, leaving isn't a straightforward option right now, as the firm is funding my master's degree through March of next year. At the same time, the compensation outcome feels underwhelming—the bonus was far below my expectations, and the salary increase was only around 10%.

Given the situation, I'm seriously considering whether it makes sense to start exploring opportunities at other companies, even if that means repaying the master's sponsorship out of pocket. I'm struggling to see a compelling reason to stay if strong performance continues to go unrewarded.

Currently A2 in Audit and being unassigned for 2 months.
Counselor said my performance is great and everyone likes working with me, just slow in the summer and it's alright. I asked every single person I know for work, but there's nothing. Now I start feeling like I'm not gonna get my senior promo due to low work hours. Should I plan myself out?

Based in California, just graduated with an Econ degree. I have 128 credits and am planning on using FEMA to catch up to 150. I don’t plan on pursuing a CPA but just want to get the 150 so I can work in audit for 2-3 years.

Do they just check if you have 150 credits or do they also check the subject related credits, like accounting, etc?

Has anyone been through the EY FAAS case study interview before? If so, I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience. What kind of case study did you receive, what types of questions were asked ?

I work in ey tax, rated a 4 and getting promoted to senior. currently making about 98k in NYC. is it better to leave for industry, or possibly PE hedge funds etc, stay for a few more years, or stay forever?

currently I don't work insane hours, typically my worst weeks are 55-60 hours during busy season (probably 4-8 weeks out of the year are actually this busy) and most times in the summer I'm only doing 30-40. but fear it's only a matter of time before I get added to some more garbage clients

would I get paid the same elsewhere / as good of time off / have even better hours, or is this the best it's gonna be

the cons are I hate the office politics around rating time, kind of afraid for the future after hearing about these layoffs, and hearing that they fire people at any rank, and hate living in fear of getting thrown on another horrible client because I had a really bad one last year that I got past.

Hi, does anyone know if it’s possible to negotiate severance with EY or if it has worked for anyone successfully? I got laid off today and was told my severance will be 4 weeks because I worked with ey for 4 years. I tried negotiating and the talent lady said it’s not negotiable at all but there has to be exceptions. I went through cancer this past year and I really need my health insurance. I don’t care that I lost the job itself I’m just really nervous about loosing my health insurance as I still have ongoing doctor visits and medications and treatments that I need to keep up with. Does anyone have experience with negotiating the severance and getting ey to extend it?

I’m an audit intern with EY this summer - and independence is confusing me. Let me start by saying I do not invest at the current time but am looking to start in the near future. If I accept my full time offer, even if I am not on the audit engagement for a specific company, and they are not audited out of my office, am I still restricted from purchasing their stock? What is a covered person?

For example if I work on the XYZ company audit engagement as a staff 1, can I still purchase GOOG shares on NYSE?

I'm currently placed in a big 4 in the external audit department. It's been nearly 4 months since I've joined. Gained above decent exposure in a mid size firm during my articleship. So, the transition in terms of work hasn't been hard. I'm getting used to the big 4 way of work.

My major problem is the pressure. I understand from talking to people here and based on my previous articleship experience that the pressure is always present here.

There are a few bad apples in the hierarchy too in terms of micromanaging and sometimes raising their voices.

I know that external audit is not a long term plan for me. Looks like I won't be able to manage it here in the short term too. My health has taken a toll. I'm constantly anxious, which has led to nausea.

I'm planning on moving on to industry, but the job market is just genuinely bad out there.

People keep telling me to atleast consider staying for a year. But I feel like it's not something I'll be able to manage here. I'm depressed, anxious and always angry.

My question is this - do I stick it out for some time until I find a good job to drop my resignation, or do I drop it now or do I stay here for a year because it will look good on my resume? Is there a lot of shame that comes with quitting early?

I would appreciate practical, sensible advice from people who've been in this position before.

I’ve been unassigned for a little over one week after my latest project ended. Had my YE review and received differentiating with promotion to senior. Should I be concerned about being on the bench or is the summer just a slow time for the firm?

After 2 months of interviews, I finally got a verbal offer last month that the team wants to proceed with the written offer paperwork but after 5 weeks I have still never received it. Now the recruiter is saying I might not get anything until end of August (another 5-6 weeks). Is there a hiring freeze right now? Should I just assume the offer is dead in the water? I've never experienced such a thing before.

I worked in Pwc global for 1.5 years in Audit.I am CA + CFA level 2 qualified professional. Should I continue in Audit or Finance .? I am not getting many interview calls . I’m from India . I am waiting on my results on my final test to hopefully go 4/4 and I was wondering if once I become a CPA i would receive a salary increase.

I currently work in EY and I know you receive a one time bonus if you pass it in the first two years of you joining, but I was also expecting some sort of increase to my annual salary as a result of my license.

I spoke with my counselor and he told me that they did not consider the CPA when giving out increases. I find this hard to believe given the need for CPAs in the industry. Can anyone confirm whether this is common practice among the firm?

Hi All. I’m in a hugely stressful situation and was hoping to get some advice please.

Big 4 Audit Senior in the UK. Completing the ICAS CA and I’ve completed all exams (first time passes), and the 450 days of work experience. I just need to a) still be employed with the company in early September for my 3 years, b) submit and have my 39 competency question answers and work experience signed off by my line manager and c) have my overall training file signed off by the designated partner.

I don’t feel comfortable going into huge detail here (happy to in PM) but essentially I’ve historically had strong feedback and a strong department contribution. I’ve worked on more clients than my colleagues too since I was never given a permanent client (which has been bad for my learning).

Worked on one particular project last year and got OK feedback from the manager and bad feedback from the senior manager. Came back on the project for year end and felt bullied by the SM who gave me bad feedback after 3 weeks back on the project and said I’d have a weekly coaching call going forward. I was going through a bereavement and went off on sick leave, then was back on the project for a week before being booted off it. The manager gave me bad feedback for those few weeks at year end.

After that I worked on 2 other projects and got strong feedback on those. My overall numerical grade per my feedback is equivalent to meeting standards expected. However the SM complained about me in the performance meeting and was told his feedback wasn’t written down so couldn’t be considered. He then sent it to me and I guess had a quiet word with the performance lead. There is a lot of dodgy stuff I haven’t mentioned but basically I’ve been told by my line manager I’ve been given a ‘progression required’ category and will be put on a PIP. He couldn’t confirm but said these are usually 12 weeks and to be selective in what projects I take on. I asked if it would impact my qualification and he said he didn’t expect it to but I shouldn’t quote him on that. I have the capability meeting coming up to respond to the allegations which are generic (e.g “communication”) etc.

Thinking of requesting an occupational health referral due to my anxiety being terrible and flaring up my other disabilities. Does anyone have any advice please, particularly my likelihood of qualifying or how to protect my qualification? I wouldn’t even mind leaving by the end of the year, just as long as I qualify. I’m absolutely terrified of the thought of leaving after 3 years with no qualification :(
