Hello there, looking for some advice from locals on this. My wife and I are heading out to Alberta, mostly in Calgary to see family who recently moved there, but we do of course plan to head out to Banff, Lake Louise, all the Rocky Mountain areas (plus a possible detour to see a friend in Invermere BC). I was planning to rent a car in Calgary, but my wife has a pretty intense fear of driving alongside steep cliffs, and is hesitant about doing it with me driving since I don't know the terrain. So my question to you locals who will know way better than I do is, how hazardous or steep are the drop-offs on the main roads like Highways 1 and 93 once we're into the Rockies, both on the Alberta and BC sides? Is there maybe a better or worse part, like say maybe it's worse if we drove up to the Columbia glacier but better near Banff? I think it would really help a lot of we know what we're in for when it comes to this kind of thing, and then we can decide if it would be better to take a bus from Calgary. Thanks for all the help! I have a couple days reserved at Banff and 3 more days at lake louise campground.

I plan to set my tent in my truck bed so my question is: Is there buses that I can take from the campground to the interesting spots so I don't have to pack my tent everyday?

Or is a better idea to just get a ground tent and move in between places in my truck?

Also, any other camping tip is appreciated. I hear is a little wild there and all my previous experience is not in Canada.

we have a trip planned to banff for may 3-8. I recently got diagnosed with a medical condition (POTS) that has recently proven it is going to be hard for me to walk miles upon miles without fainting. i have read through many posts here today, but still wanted to get insight from people who have been!

i know this is not ideal because this is truly an outdoorsy vacation, but i’m wondering if there are still any pretty things to see that are not as treacherous of a walk/hike?

this will be our honeymoon if that means anything. we will be renting a car as well 🤍

I went to the top of Sulfur Mountain via the gondola and looking north I saw this peak and it has a spire adjacent to it. What is it?

My family and I are going to Banff national park this fall (September). We love to fish but don’t know how to fly fish. Does anyone on here have any recommendations or ideas on where to go to have a great experience? We are experienced fishermen who usually target northern species like Muskie, Pike, and Walleye.

Getting into hiking and just finished Moose Mountain and Yates with some friends. I want to get into more serious peaks involving light scrambling (preferably with little to no exposure).

Was considering Ha Ling Peak or EEOR but with the road closure I'd prefer a more accessible hike to the Canmore/Banff area.

I am confused that which 4 am shuttle to Moraine lake is the best option? And how long can I stay there?

We're traveling from Virginia US, train in Vancouver, and can only bring mid sized luggage. I get cold and want to bring a jacket, raincoat, scarf and hat. My husband thinks I'm nuts since it's August. Temps range from low 50°- 75° . I don't want to get there and have to buy warm stuff. Any advice is appreciated!

My mom and I want to start planning a trip!! I also will have a 2 year old by the time we go. I want to avoid lots of crowds but obviously I’m realistic too. In your opinion when is best time to go and any fun things for kids..? Thanks!!!

Is it completely outrageous for two fit 30 year olds to start devils thumb at 7:30am and then hike to sentinel pass or at least minnestima lakes on the same day. Reviews on all trails has both hikes at 4-5 hours each and the last ride back is at 7:30pm so timing works with a couple of hours of wiggle room. Just wondering if I'm in way over my head thinking I'd physically be capable of doing it which is why I'm considering at least trying to minestima lakes as I heard there is still a well earned pay off to make it at least there. I really want to do both hikes as I've read so many great things

- Surprise corner, My Norquay lookout 
- Emerald lake, Takakkaw falls
- Banff Hot springs

I am considering visiting bow lake again and doing the glacier falls trail

My sibling and I will be visiting in September for work, but will have a few days off. We will be staying at the Banff International Hostel for the days before work and we'd like to explore some trails around. Sadly, neither of us drives. We do see there are plenty of options to hike around Banff even without a car but I'm wondering if anyone has got any recommendations specifically for people staying in this part of Banff, around the International hostel.

If we buy Banff gondola tickets for a group of four for 6 pm on a weekday and arrive an hour or two late, can we still ride the gondola?

Our only realistic window to visit Marble Canyon is around 2:00 PM. How long could it take to find a parking spot at that time? And is it worth the wait? Also how much time should I allocate to visiting Marble Canyon if we don't do any hikes?

Is Cave and Basin a must-visit spot in Banff? And how much are tickets if we plan to visit first week of August?
