Steve Canyon Via Ferrata

I just stumbled across some posts online that seem to show a via ferrata on Steve Canyon near Gap Lake. Has anyone here been there and done that? I imagine that this must have been set up with the blessing of Alberta Parks but I see very little online in the way of route maps, guides or information.

Post elopement dinner?

My fiancé and I are eloping in Banff but staying in Canmore. What are some good restaurants for celebrating? We do have a bit of high expectations as we are huge foodies lol. We are currently debating between Sauvage, 4296, and Ankor. But if there is someplace else you'd suggest I'd love to hear them.

Thanks in advance.

Anyone been out lately to sport climb? Wondering if the areas around town are good now that the advisories have ended.

Solo Visit - October

Howdy! I am planning a solo trip from October 16th-19th. This will be my first time travelling “alone”. I am hoping to get some recommendations on things to do, must see locations, any easy hikes available, etc etc etc. I am hoping to also go to Banff for a day. I will be flying into Calgary and then taking the bus into Canmore, planning to stay in an AirBNB. Would also love any food reccs you may have!

Accessing EEOR

Hello! I was planning on taking the Roam 12 to grassi lakes trailhead and then walking to the EEOR trailhead from there. I just read about the 742 rockslide closure, does anyone know if my plan will still be possible? I reached out to Roam about whether they're still going to grassi lakes and it looks like they are, so I'm mostly concerned with the connection between grassi and EEOR

Doing a solo day trip and want to do this hike. Could someone please provide insight on what I should know about getting there this weekend? My mother in law told me the road was closed and it may be closed from rockslides?

Canmore with toddler 3 days in October!

Heading to Canmore this October with our toddler and could use some local tips!

Stay: Kid-friendly hotel/condo, ideally with a pool

Eat: Toddler-tolerant spots (patios, high chairs, quick kids’ meals a plus)

Do: Stroller-friendly walks, indoor backup options for bad weather, playgrounds, easy wildlife spotting

Also — what’s October weather actually like there? Snow or still mild?

Any favorites (or warnings) welcome. Thanks!

Heading to Canmore camping on the 20th and haven’t been their in years. Taking my gf who’s never been. Looking for some neat bar or food joints to check out. Also looking for a good medium level hike and some other fun things to do around Canmore that may not be shown online. Thanks!!

Event for up to 250 people

I am looking to have a pre wedding party in Canmore but the usual event spaces/hotel venues either are not able to accommodate all my guests or are all booked for the day I need. Does anyone have any other suggestions for alternatives like a property that would allow us to post an event tent or a space that isn’t usually used as a venue but could still accommodate? Would also consider spaces in surrounding areas.

Thanks!

Fruit Truck

I'm dating my time in Canmore, likely - but does the fruit truck still stop in Canmore during the week, somewhere behind main street?

TIA!

Inside scoop on 742

Anyone have insider info on timing to get this road open? Or insight into what is driving the seemingly long time to do so. Aside from fencing, cement, and rods into the mountain this face has and will continue to crumble as the rockies limestone does. Seems like we move the risk tolerance lower and lower every year this area gets more popular. Is the plan to just close this indefinitely like cougar creek until we eventually put in a massively overbuilt fix over 5 years. Just feels a bit over the top... its been over a month youd think a few guys with crowbars could dislodge whatever they are worried about by now... no one gives a shit about undermining and sink holes in tsmv area why the dramatic concern here? Not enough money to do the talking? Why am i paying the alberta parks fee to have indefinite closures with no comms? Seems irresponsible no?

Deadfall chop for firewood

Hi! I’m looking for someone with a chainsaw that would like to head to K Country with me and chop deadfall for firewood. I’ll get the permit and we’ll chop and I’ll happily run it to our vehicles. I have done this with a buddy in the past. He’s out of town though. It’s hard work - I somehow find it fun though. Only day I can’t go this week is Wednesday.

Where to watch World Cup games?

Hi all, my family and I are visiting the Banff area for a few nights from the UK. Does anyone have any suggestions for pubs that will be showing the England game tonight? We are staying in Dead man’s Flats. Thank you.

Looking for someone to fish with! (Last ditch effort)

I’m in Banff for a few more days and looking for someone who’d want to go fly fishing.
The water level is high and really not sure where to go.
I got a 6wt and some dry flies looking for someone who might know a bit better as all the guiders are booked out.

Floating an idea - groceries

Just wanted to float an idea I had here. I remember a few years back someone did this but it seems to have disappeared.

Given that grocery prices in the bow valley are significantly more expensive than in Calgary, would any of you actually be interested in a local grocery delivery service where I would go buy groceries in Calgary and deliver them to your door for a fee (maybe somewhere between $20-$30?).

I realize it would likely only make sense for larger grocery hauls, but even with the fee you’d be saving money vs buying at one of the big box grocers in town.

Any thoughts?
