Hi,

I have a couple days reserved at Banff and 3 more days at lake louise campground.

I plan to set my tent in my truck bed so my question is: Is there buses that I can take from the campground to the interesting spots so I don't have to pack my tent everyday?

Or is a better idea to just get a ground tent and move in between places in my truck?

Also, any other camping tip is appreciated. I hear is a little wild there and all my previous experience is not in Canada.

Curious if anyone has info on if it is ok legal? to camp right beside a river? Are there rules around wild camping that pertain to this?

I am trying to figure out if I can camp next to the Bow River outside of Calgary city limits.

I’m planning to camp here this weekend (never been), but likely wouldn’t make it out until Friday evening. I’m wondering if I should drive out after work on Thursday to grab a site for the weekend.

Is anybody familiar with how busy this campground gets on weekends?

is it maintained? how bout washrooms and shower? we are also camping with a dog but saw that the beach area doesn't allow dogs, anyone knows if the lake that allows dogs is too far from the camp sites? we will be in area C.

any bear or wild animal encounter?

Would also appreciate any camping recommendation as we are first timers 😄 .

I have lived in Alberta for a year now and my family are visiting in 3 weeks. I am looking for places to take them south of Calgary that I may not have heard of. Range of ages from 11 to 65 so not looking long hikes,more like places to swim, have a picnic, nice scenery.

I did a scout of Beaver Mines Lake and Castle Falls yesterday and I know Chain Lakes, Little Bow, Waterton, Lundbreck Fslls.

Can anyone who has stayed at point campsite advise if there are logs to sit on by the fire pits? We were just at Romulous and there were only benches by some of the fire pits but not all, and I’m deciding on bringing my chair.

Was anyone camped out in the Bragg Creek campgrounds this weekend? Just wondering how high the elbow still is? Thinking Heading out to Paddy's or beaver flats next weekend and with the high temps it would be nice to cool off by the river with the kiddos. If it's still too high and sketchy I might look elsewhere.

I like a site with good tree cover and more grass than gravel / asphalt parking pad. Don't need power, but that would be a sweet bonus.

Would like to be within about 10-15 drive from Lac La Biche.

Thinking of heading out camping in overflow area next weekend (July 17 to 19, 2026). We’re recovering city people, and have never done this. Would appreciate any guidance.

Since it’s on a first come, first serve basis can anyone advise: 1) the best days to arrive to increase odds of getting a spot and 2) the likeliness that there will be spots available.

I know of a couple crown land “public use-ish” cabins throughout AB / BC crown land where you hike or trail out, crash in the cabin, make it better for the next guy and go about your trip. But I also know quite a few are more of a “if you know you know”. Wondering if anyone in the know can fill me in on their go-to spots. DM me? Trying to find some new scenery this season. Down for getting together for group trips too 👊🏼

We were in BC 2 weeks ago on our way to the Island, we thought about staying at some BC provincial park, but we found out that BC Parks charges an extra $20.00 per night for people out of the Country or Province.
BC does this so the campsites are for BC residents only.
I think Alberta Parks should do the same!

Have spotwatch for a couple popular sites in Kananaskis. Got a text today for it while I was on my phone, immediately clicked the link and the site was booked before the website even loaded. Considering you need to be logged in and get through a Captcha to even get a spot into your cart, I dont see how someone would have beat me to getting it in their cart in the time it took me to load the website

Is there a delay to the spot watch? Does it send a text every hour or the minute someone edits or cancels a site?

Does it get triggered when people are playing the pushing their site dates around game?

I'm having trouble finding the right people to contact and come seeking advice. My family has plans to camp at Boulton next week in tents. Currently Boulton has mandatory hard-sided camping because of a grizzly family wandering around (See below):

• Effective today June 25 until at least July 6, both Lower Lake and Bolton Campgrounds will only allow hard-sided camping accommodation units. To ensure public safety no tents or soft sided camping accommodation units are permitted.
• Reason: A family group of four grizzly bears has been frequenting the campground. One of the bears investigated and tore a hole in an occupied tent. Bear spray was deployed. Staff will be monitoring the bears and patrolling campgrounds to ensure public safety. 

We are scheduled to arrive the day after the warning is set to expire and camp in tents. Here are my questions:

1. What are the odds that the bear warning actually expired and isn't renewed?

2. Is it even safe to go tent camping the day after a bear warning expires?

How serious are they about the maximum amount of cars allowed at one site? I have a booking for 2 nights in August at Boulton Creek Campground and the website says my group can only bring 1 car.

There's no way my group of 6 can all fit in one car along with all our camping equipment, will they notice and care if we drive two?

Anyone interested in the above dates? Some friends bailed on me, so have a C site if anyone is interested. Otherwise will simply cancel.

I heard there are caterpillars and lots of mosquitoes . Any advice to survive them?

If it rains, is it easy to set up a tarp with the trees or should I bring a pole to help support the tarp? We are tent camping and the forecast is windy with some rain on/off. Our site has trees surrounding it. I've been camping lots before (but never in the rain).

I recently moved to the spruceview gleniffer lake area with my partner who has shown me a completely different side to them i wasnt aware. We both work together but i am a new employee and whereas they have already established themselves so I am hesitating on asking the boss for any leads to finding a safe space to stay while i work.

I am torn between trying to keep my job and risking humiliation and or termination if my ex continues this pattern and saying eff it but i also dont really have any wheres to eff it too.

I have a vehicle but the clutch went on it ( i have the clutch kit but not sure how to go about getting it installed) my car is currently parked about an 1 - 2 hr walk from me and i am still in unsafe spot with ex in their camper at a local campground.

(I am at the moment keeping myself calm, packing what i can and doing my part to prevent any more escalation)

I am preparing to walk to my vehicle before it gets dark. i am reluctant but will leave most of what i have behind.

I am quite isolated.. both physically and socially.

I havent always been one with a lot of friends but ive struggled to connect in the last few years.

I guess maybe if anyone even just has any advice or experience id be grateful.

Ive been in tough situations before so i am keeping strong mentally but ive always knew where to go or what to do.

I am not sure what to do in this one.

I am planning on reaching out on community pages relevent to this area, but trying to stay more discreet as still currently in same space as ex partner.
