Question Shoes similar to EVO SL?

I recently bought the Adidas EVO SL and i really like shoe love the cushioning with the tempo feel to it. I also have the Saucony Endorphine Speed 5, which i feel has significantly less cushioning. But when looking around i see many people comparing them to each other and they are saying that they are quite similar. I do not even slightly understand this because the ES5 feels much stiffer and not even close when it comes to cushioning. So what shoes should i be looking at if i want some shoe that could replace the EVO SL in the future?

Question New runner shoes recommendation

Hi everyone, I'm a new runner. My current tempo run pace is 7:15/km and easy run is over 9/km. Currently I'm using the Asics Dynablast 5, which I have almost 200km mileage in them. I want to add another shoe to my roster. These are the shoes i'm contemplating:

  1. Asics Novablast 6
  2. Adidas Adizero Evo SL
  3. Li Ning Red Hare 9 Ultra

honestly my main concern is, am I too slow currently for these shoes? I'm in Malaysia, so temperatures are always over 30 celcius and close to 40 celsius with very high humidity.

Big/Heavy Runner Question Running shoe recommendations for heavy runner using orthotics

Post image
2 Upvotes

I've been running since November last year, started out with a pair of New Balance 880 v15, and recently got a pair of Kiprun Challengers for faster runs. The New Balances are wearing out, and I'm looking for a replacement, hopefully a bit more fun! Currently run 3 times per week, generally 6-12 km per session, and aiming to get 5km under 20mins by the end of the year (also do 5 other varied crosstraining sessions but they don't impact the shoes)

I'm 93kg and wear rigid half foot orthotics, this is making it tricky to find something that suits - a lot of shoes are too narrow for the orthotics (eg tried the Boston 13, even the Challengers are a struggle) plus can be a bit unstable, and many others are too soft and bottom out under my weight (eg Novablasts). Usually a euro size 44.

Pic attached of the orthotics with a North Face Ultra Fastpack insole, and a Kiprun Challengers insole, to show the width aspect. (In general, I cut the back half of insoles away so the orthotics sit lower, these are the two intact ones I have).

So, can anyone suggest shoes I could try that would handle the orthotics, handle my weight, and hopefully be more fun than the 880s?

(Sorry if this ends up as a duplicate, I've been struggling to understand 'reading the rules' and getting deleted).

Daily Trainer Question Looking for stable-neutral replacement for Tempus 1 & Superblast 2

I’ve been running for a while and am looking for a replacement for the Saucony Tempus and Asics Superblast 2.

The original Tempus was my first favorite shoe, I went through four pairs at roughly 500 miles each and stayed injury-free even while building up to 60 mpw. I used the Endorphin Speed 4 occasionally for speed work, but about 85% of my mileage was in the Tempus. I didn’t enjoy the Tempus 2 nearly as much, and later switched to the Superblast 2, which I also loved, owning 2 more pairs with 500 miles each on them.

Earlier this year I moved to the Saucony Azura and quickly developed pain along the inside of my foot and arch. I also tried the Superblast 3 and hated it and felt it lacking any support. After taking some time off from running due to a sprained ankle, I started physical therapy where I ended up learning my prior arch pain was likely PTT partially related to my shoes’ lack of support.

I’m currently back in a pair of Tempus 1s I found locally, but am looking for a long term replacement. I need a cushioned, stable-neutral trainer mainly for easy miles and supporting my feet while also handling some faster paces (Not any track work, but for occasional tempos around 6:00-6:20 pace).

I’m considering the M2C C1 and Hurricane 26 but am open to any suggestions. Would appreciate input from anyone who loved the Tempus & SB2 or has dealt with some PTT pain :)

Question New Runner

Upvotes

New Runner

Hi! I just started running (literally 2 days ago). Does anyone have any shoe recommendations? I’m currently wearing New Balance 520’s. I know these aren’t the best for running and are more of an everyday shoe. I’ve also heard the shoe can make or break your run so I want to have the best experience I can.

Question Any of these trail shoes suitable for high instep/midfoot?

Hi, I wan´t to get back to running and have preselected some shoes on runrepeat with high shock absorption and rigid midsoles due to my foot health issues.

I also have quite high instep/midfoot (hereditary) so not many shoes fit me and none of the shoes in question are available to try in brick and mortar store near me, only order online, return etc.

Salomon AeroGlide 4 GRVL

Hoka Mafate 5

Nike Wildhorse 10

Hoka Mafate X

Kiprun Kipsummit Max

Teva Hurricane Trailsetter

So what I am looking for is tips like "I have high instep too and these shoes fit me." or maybe the opposite "I have normal instep and have to lace these shoes all the way down so my foot doesn´t jump up and down."

Thanks.

Question Marathon Shoe Recommendations

Started running in February and running my first marathon in October. I am 35, flat feet, 224 lbs, will probably be running a 10-11 min pace for my marathon. Current shoe rotation is Megablast, Superblast 3, Vomero plus, Evo SL Exo. Evo's were my first running shoes, but i have slowly stopped using them because I believe I am getting knee pain from them, from the lack of stability. I have done 10+ mile runs in all the other shoes. Right now I am planning on buying another pair of megablast for the marathon. the reason I'm looking for possible alternatives is because the upper of the megablast isn't the greatest. I love the foam, but i sometimes get lace bite from the upper, and sometimes, on longer runs, I get blisters on the sides off my toes. I have to make sure I tie the laces right before i start running. just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for maybe another pair of shoes? I was looking at possibly the cloudmonster 3 hyper as ive heard thats a great shoe for a lot of time on feet. Also the new newbalance SC Rebel's that just got announced look interesting.

Question Two pairs? GT2000s or Keyanos?

Hey All,

TLDR: Do i need two pairs of running shoes? Asics Keyanos or GT200s?

I currently use Asics GT2000 14 TR (trail) shoes, as I mostly run in the park/fields/woods, and I have some overpronation

I run about 3 times a week - but I'm debating getting a second pair of shoes - probably road running shoes instead of 'trail' shoes for when I do more tarmac/road paths or actual events.

I was going to get Asics Gel Keyanos as I've used them before (23s and 29s) and thought they were really good for protecting the knees, but I read online that the GT2000s can actually be better for protecting the IT band/knees as they're a bit firmer, so your foot wobbles less, and as the Keyanos are a fraction heavier, they may slow you down a tiny bit.

Also, is there even a need for 2 pairs, or will one pair be fine? I think when I do my half-marathon and 10 miler in late Sept and late October, my shoes will only be approaching 250 miles of usage.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks!

Question Is This Rude?

I am new to running and trying to find a road shoe. I come from a hiking background and started with trail running but want to do about 50/50 road/trial. I am used to the Altra 9+ and really love them. I want more cushion for road. I started with the On Cloud Cloudsurfer but they bit into my achilles pretty bad so I had to return them. Just today I got the Mount to Coast H1 and i really liked them. The heel cup feels really good and the drop is a little less than the Cloudsurfer (I think this is part of the achilles issue). I am trying to get over my heel striking and I think the higher drop is making it worse.

Anyway I am doing a little more research on MtC and it seems as though the C1 might fit what I am looking for even better then the H1. I don’t need a road to trail shoe like the h1 because I already have my altras, the toe box seems a bit wider in the C1 which is intriguing to me, and it MtC claims that the C1 has a little bit more stability.

My right arch does collapse a bit so having more stability would be good, I am training for a HM and run about 20 miles per week currently but will be working up to 35 over the next few months according to my Coros training plan.

Question 1- Do you think that the C1 would be a good fit for what I am looking for?

Question 2- I feel like i’m being high maintenance if I keep going into my local running store and exchanging shoes each week, but I want to find something that works well for me. Is this normal, or should I just stick with what I currently have?

Question Multiple questions in one regarding shoe rotation & race shoe - half mara

Hello! First time poster. I am going to provide a lot of background here..

I have always had issues with shoes and finding the right ones for me - especially running. I have a wider foot - but not too wide, I don't always need the wide fit.

I did my first half mara in April 2025 - I used asics gel cumulus for my training for approx 450k then changed to novablasts 5.

I love my novas i now have 3 pairs - but as I have increased my load again (training for a half in October) my post tibs have been getting tight & sore. I had this happen during my training block last year, it settled - but my legs are always tight. I use these for my easy, long, intervals and race day runs so I only have one shoe in my rotation. I do 3 runs per week 8km easy, 9km with intervals/tempo/thresholds, and a longer run (working with a coach).

I know I overpronate as I have had gait analysis done - but each time I try a more supportive shoe they hurt my feet (around the forefoot, arch area) - I have tried brooks adrenaline GTS, asics kayano, glycerin (they didn't hurt my feet to start but eventually they did). I figured i must be over correcting my form.

I am looking to add in maybe nike vomero 18 - but i am just not sure if i wear them for everything? Do i wear my novas for my interval run and the vomero's the other 2?

For someone who runs 3 times a week as listed above - do I need multiple shoes in my rotation??

I am hoping to get around 2 hours 10 for this half mara - is there any point getting a 'speed' or 'race' shoe for someone of this pace? So my easy runs are around 6:40-7:00min, intervals 5:10-5:30, longer intervals/thresh 5:50-6:10.

Unsure how to articulate the rest of my questions.. guidance/opinions/expertise would be appreciated.

Question Running shoes for mild overpronation and low arch

I just recently took running seriously and I’m now training for a half-marathon. I need guidance on buying daily trainers and a race shoe.

I previously used Nike Pegasus and Adidas Ultraboost for running and eventually got posterior tibial tendonitis. I also used Asics Gel Kayano 30 before my injury but I felt wobbly on that shoe so I returned it eventually.

Went to a podiatrist and discovered I have mild overpronation, low arch and wide feet. I was recommended with Brooks Adrenalin GTS 24. I like the stability but I don’t really like it for running. It’s really great for my walks though. I now use Hoka Bondi 9 (I know a lot of people don’t like this shoe) and I recently used it for my 10km races. I use it with inserts and my feet feels very supported and I really like how it feels for my ankles and knees. But I don’t like it for my long runs. It feels heavy.

Any suggestions for daily trainers and race shoes? I recently tried the Saucony Hurricane 25 in the shoe store and I like its cushioning but I’m still hesitant to buy it.

Daily Trainer Question Looking for a good everyday shoe

For context, I (23, M, 150lbs, 6’0”) have been running in the adidas evo SL for the last 300ish miles so I suspect their lifespan is coming to an end. I would love to transition them into a tempo/interval shoe for whatever is left and pickup a new everyday shoe.

I’ll be starting training for a marathon after finishing with my current half marathon training in mid August (looking to go about 1:35:00). I’m looking for something that would be good for everyday miles and long runs.

I’ve looked into the megablast, superblast, novablast line from asics as well as the endorphin azura and vomero plus but haven’t seen anything that seems definitive either way.

Would love insight about experiences with good every day shoes and maybe recommendations. Happy to provide more information if needed!

Appreciate it!

Big/Heavy Runner Question Vomero Prem - Size 15

I wear somewhere between a 14 (NB5, Saucony Azura) and a 15 (Adidas Terrex Agravic, Nike VF4). It's hard to find the Vomero Premiums in a 15 to try on in-person, can anyone weigh in if sizing is consistent enough with the VF4? I figure race shoe vs non-racing could be pretty different.

Question Decent school shoes

Running school shoes

My school doesn’t allow popular branded shoes but I think I’m fine if I use all black ones that don’t have a very obvious logo. I’m from Malaysia and basically every school certified brand the bottom will become like a bald tyre in a few months and I’ll slip and die

TLDR looking for school shoes that can be used to run and have good grip but won’t get caught

Budget under rm200 around usd 50 maybe stretch abit more

Question New Balance Ellipse – silver strip folds inward and irritates my foot

Post image
0 Upvotes

Has anyone else experienced this with the New Balance Ellipse?

I’ve noticed that the silver overlay (not the stitching, but the stiffer synthetic strip) on the side of the shoe bends inward while running. When it folds, it creates a small wave/ridge underneath that I can feel against my foot. It’s not exactly painful, but it’s slightly irritating and rubs that area. I ran 5K without blisters but it was noticeable enough for me to think about it durning my run.

Has anyone had the same issue?
Does this part soften and break in over time, or is this just how the shoe is designed? I’m wondering if the upper will eventually mold to my foot or if the crease will always be there.
I’ve attached a photo showing the area I’m talking about. It is on both sides of the shoe.

Can’t return them.

Planning to buy the ASICS Novablast 5
Has anyone purchased ASICS shoes from this seller/listing? Is it safe and genuine, or should I buy directly from the ASICS website? I did visit the store yesterday that guy was insisting to buy from store only and scaring me that u might get a duplicate product on amazon. But the store don’t have this particular color.

Thanks for ur help in advance
