Running school shoes
My school doesn’t allow popular branded shoes but I think I’m fine if I use all black ones that don’t have a very obvious logo. I’m from Malaysia and basically every school certified brand the bottom will become like a bald tyre in a few months and I’ll slip and die
TLDR looking for school shoes that can be used to run and have good grip but won’t get caught
Budget under rm200 around usd 50 maybe stretch abit more

I’m not a runner. I walk a lot. Been having trouble finding shoes that fit well. I have flatter feet and high insteps, so I need more room on the top of my feet. I tried on the 23s. They fit well. Surprisingly, the Wide fit me better, and I’ve never worn wide sneakers in my life. Regular/medium always.
I returned them, bc I had bad low back pain from my first walk of about 7K steps. Maybe I just need to get used to them more. Not sure. I don’t have a back problem. Just typical middle age aches and pains. Would you choose one of these for mainly walking or possibly another model?

Has anyone else experienced this with the New Balance Ellipse?
I’ve noticed that the silver overlay (not the stitching, but the stiffer synthetic strip) on the side of the shoe bends inward while running. When it folds, it creates a small wave/ridge underneath that I can feel against my foot. It’s not exactly painful, but it’s slightly irritating and rubs that area. I ran 5K without blisters but it was noticeable enough for me to think about it durning my run.
Has anyone had the same issue?
Does this part soften and break in over time, or is this just how the shoe is designed? I’m wondering if the upper will eventually mold to my foot or if the crease will always be there.
I’ve attached a photo showing the area I’m talking about. It is on both sides of the shoe.
Can’t return them.

Started running in February and running my first marathon in October. I am 35, flat feet, 224 lbs, will probably be running a 10-11 min pace for my marathon. Current shoe rotation is Megablast, Superblast 3, Vomero plus, Evo SL Exo. Evo's were my first running shoes, but i have slowly stopped using them because I believe I am getting knee pain from them, from the lack of stability. I have done 10+ mile runs in all the other shoes. Right now I am planning on buying another pair of megablast for the marathon. the reason I'm looking for possible alternatives is because the upper of the megablast isn't the greatest. I love the foam, but i sometimes get lace bite from the upper, and sometimes, on longer runs, I get blisters on the sides off my toes. I have to make sure I tie the laces right before i start running. just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for maybe another pair of shoes? I was looking at possibly the cloudmonster 3 hyper as ive heard thats a great shoe for a lot of time on feet. Also the new newbalance SC Rebel's that just got announced look interesting.

New Runner
Hi! I just started running (literally 2 days ago). Does anyone have any shoe recommendations? I’m currently wearing New Balance 520’s. I know these aren’t the best for running and are more of an everyday shoe. I’ve also heard the shoe can make or break your run so I want to have the best experience I can.

I am new to running and trying to find a road shoe. I come from a hiking background and started with trail running but want to do about 50/50 road/trial. I am used to the Altra 9+ and really love them. I want more cushion for road. I started with the On Cloud Cloudsurfer but they bit into my achilles pretty bad so I had to return them. Just today I got the Mount to Coast H1 and i really liked them. The heel cup feels really good and the drop is a little less than the Cloudsurfer (I think this is part of the achilles issue). I am trying to get over my heel striking and I think the higher drop is making it worse.
Anyway I am doing a little more research on MtC and it seems as though the C1 might fit what I am looking for even better then the H1. I don’t need a road to trail shoe like the h1 because I already have my altras, the toe box seems a bit wider in the C1 which is intriguing to me, and it MtC claims that the C1 has a little bit more stability.
My right arch does collapse a bit so having more stability would be good, I am training for a HM and run about 20 miles per week currently but will be working up to 35 over the next few months according to my Coros training plan.
Question 1- Do you think that the C1 would be a good fit for what I am looking for?
Question 2- I feel like i’m being high maintenance if I keep going into my local running store and exchanging shoes each week, but I want to find something that works well for me. Is this normal, or should I just stick with what I currently have?

I have an upcoming race and was hoping to find another pair of ES4 since mine are worn out, but if I order them now I wouldn't get them in time cause they're only available on a few niche online stores. These were perfect because they're snappy enough while being noticeably cushioned. They also gently hug the roof of my feet even if I tied them snugly.
Not at all like my other tempo shoes - Adidas Adizero Boston 12 - which feel as though my feet are being strangled with an indestructible piece of carboard. Running in those sometimes feels like slamming my heels on concrete, the cushioning is not comparable to ES4 AT ALL.
Endorphin Sped 5 are easy to find but I just can't stand how firm they are on the above part of my foot, especially the toes, which I like to be able to wiggle around a little bit.

To summarize, I would greatly appreciate if you could recommend me a pair of running shoes which are:

I recently bought the Adidas EVO SL and i really like shoe love the cushioning with the tempo feel to it. I also have the Saucony Endorphine Speed 5, which i feel has significantly less cushioning. But when looking around i see many people comparing them to each other and they are saying that they are quite similar. I do not even slightly understand this because the ES5 feels much stiffer and not even close when it comes to cushioning. So what shoes should i be looking at if i want some shoe that could replace the EVO SL in the future?

I've been running since November last year, started out with a pair of New Balance 880 v15, and recently got a pair of Kiprun Challengers for faster runs. The New Balances are wearing out, and I'm looking for a replacement, hopefully a bit more fun! Currently run 3 times per week, generally 6-12 km per session, and aiming to get 5km under 20mins by the end of the year (also do 5 other varied crosstraining sessions but they don't impact the shoes)
I'm 93kg and wear rigid half foot orthotics, this is making it tricky to find something that suits - a lot of shoes are too narrow for the orthotics (eg tried the Boston 13, even the Challengers are a struggle) plus can be a bit unstable, and many others are too soft and bottom out under my weight (eg Novablasts). Usually a euro size 44.
Pic attached of the orthotics with a North Face Ultra Fastpack insole, and a Kiprun Challengers insole, to show the width aspect. (In general, I cut the back half of insoles away so the orthotics sit lower, these are the two intact ones I have).
So, can anyone suggest shoes I could try that would handle the orthotics, handle my weight, and hopefully be more fun than the 880s?
(Sorry if this ends up as a duplicate, I've been struggling to understand 'reading the rules' and getting deleted).

There seem to be a lot of great shoe options coming out every year for marathons. I’m wondering why there seems to be a lack of interest from companies to release similar top of the line shoes specific to shorter distances?
Is it the case that the best marathon shoes generally translate well to 5ks too? What’s the best 5k shoe money can buy right now?

Hi everyone, I'm a new runner. My current tempo run pace is 7:15/km and easy run is over 9/km. Currently I'm using the Asics Dynablast 5, which I have almost 200km mileage in them. I want to add another shoe to my roster. These are the shoes i'm contemplating:
honestly my main concern is, am I too slow currently for these shoes? I'm in Malaysia, so temperatures are always over 30 celcius and close to 40 celsius with very high humidity.

Hello fellow geeks.
The ASICS Megablast is my GOAT running trainer and the favourite child in my rotation for some time. I prefer it over my Carbons, at all speeds, from distances all the way to 50k.
With 1000km clocked, it is finally reaching the point where it’s losing it’s pop. I intend to buy another pair, but also wanted to try some competitors (if anything, to rotate with on my long tempo runs to extend the lifetime of my next Megablasts).
So far, the On Cloudmonster 3 Hyper LightSpray seems to be one of the most comparable premium super trainer when considering comfort, energy return, and impact absorption.
Keen to hear from anybody who owns this, or both, shoes for their take on how they like them and whether it’s worth the price?

My EVO SLs just hit 1000 km (620 miles), so the time to replace them is approaching.
They've been my only running shoes for a bit over a year, and I've done everything in them: easy runs, 10K-15Ks, one half marathon, mostly at a pretty humble pace (~6.3min/km / 10:30min/mile).
I love them and had the most fun, but recently I've been getting pain around the front/inside of my ankles after runs. I'm not sure if it's simply because the shoes have 1000 km on them now, or if I've reached the point where I need something a bit more stable.
I've been looking at the Novablast 5/6 because my partner absolutely loves them. The Vomero Plus has also caught my eye since there are a lot of good deals at the moment, although I'm wondering if it might be a bit too soft. I also found a good price on the Boston 13.
F31, 55kg/121 lbs. I mostly run on roads, 3x week (easy, tempo, long run). I'm looking for a shoe that can do it all, specially the tempo work I'm currently focusing on, and eventually longer runs as I build back towards half marathon distance. Ideally something that feels stable and reliable, but still fun to run in. Budget is around €200.
Any recommendations?
