Hello! First time poster. I am going to provide a lot of background here..
I have always had issues with shoes and finding the right ones for me - especially running. I have a wider foot - but not too wide, I don't always need the wide fit.
I did my first half mara in April 2025 - I used asics gel cumulus for my training for approx 450k then changed to novablasts 5.
I love my novas i now have 3 pairs - but as I have increased my load again (training for a half in October) my post tibs have been getting tight & sore. I had this happen during my training block last year, it settled - but my legs are always tight. I use these for my easy, long, intervals and race day runs so I only have one shoe in my rotation. I do 3 runs per week 8km easy, 9km with intervals/tempo/thresholds, and a longer run (working with a coach).
I know I overpronate as I have had gait analysis done - but each time I try a more supportive shoe they hurt my feet (around the forefoot, arch area) - I have tried brooks adrenaline GTS, asics kayano, glycerin (they didn't hurt my feet to start but eventually they did). I figured i must be over correcting my form.
I am looking to add in maybe nike vomero 18 - but i am just not sure if i wear them for everything? Do i wear my novas for my interval run and the vomero's the other 2?
For someone who runs 3 times a week as listed above - do I need multiple shoes in my rotation??
I am hoping to get around 2 hours 10 for this half mara - is there any point getting a 'speed' or 'race' shoe for someone of this pace? So my easy runs are around 6:40-7:00min, intervals 5:10-5:30, longer intervals/thresh 5:50-6:10.
Unsure how to articulate the rest of my questions.. guidance/opinions/expertise would be appreciated.
